2020 Adds Before The Season

Week 9 Fantasy Streamers Week 6 Injury Reports 2020 Adds Before The Season Dynasty Start-Up ADP Values King Fantasy Sports

The early part of any season can shape your season, here we go into some adds to pick up before the start of the 2020 season. You might’ve just drafted your team, but there are always moves you can make. Here we identify a number of players that are owned in more than half of leagues on Yahoo.

Remember to check out our weekly rankings and get your roster in shape.

2020 Adds Before The Season: QBs

Philip Rivers (IND, Rostered 29% Leagues)

Rivers steps into an offense that has talent all over the field- but he now has protection. Truly, Rivers hasn’t had top protection for years. Alongside a solid defense, Rivers could end up having his best fantasy season this year. With an opening game against Jacksonville, he should jump straight from the start of the season.

Drew Lock (DEN, Rostered 21% Leagues)

Lock seems to be going completely under the radar at the moment. Considering the upgrades to the offense the team made, it’s surprising to see him on so few rosters. I’m not saying I’m expecting Lock to be a top option week in week out, but when you are looking at stashes for later in the season you are looking for lightning. Lock has weapons everywhere on the field- and could be lightning for you after a few weeks.

2020 Adds Before The Season: RBs

Tony Pollard (DAL, Rostered 41% Leagues)

This one I kind of understand. Pollard isn’t going to be relevant unless Ezekiel Elliott is injured. However, that could happen. Equally, the team might decide that they need to limit the number of touches that Elliott puts on his body. If that’s the case, then Pollard is the guy the team will lean on. Get him on your roster now for free, rather than spending up if it happens.

Darrel Williams (KC, Rostered 25%)

As with Pollard’s situation, Williams is currently the backup in Kansas City. That role is gold if the starter goes down, as it’s a system that gives production to the position. If Clyde Edwards-Helaire struggles at any point in his rookie season (especially the opening weeks) then Williams will be the target for teams.

James Robinson (JAX, Rostered 18%)

Robinson has a unique opportunity at the early part of the season. Jacksonville released Leonard Fournette, which put Ryquell Armstead in prime position for the early down work. However, Armstead has again found himself on the COVID list. That means that Robinson is going to be given the opportunity first, and therefore well worth an add in leagues. Even if it is for the opening weeks and then looking to trade him away.

2020 Adds Before The Season: WRs

Allen Lazard (GB, Rostered 44% Leagues)

Aaron Rodgers I think is being underrated this year. The reason being, this was the first time we actually saw him having to run a new offense in his career. I also don’t think that he is going to be in positive gamescripts each week. The Packers weren’t as effective as their record last year suggested. The WR2 option will be valuable in this offense, and with the trust that Rodgers has in Lazard, he could pay off big time.

Preston Williams (MIA, Rostered 40% Leagues)

Miami may have made improvements, but they are still not a great team. That should mean plenty of passing plays, and simply DeVante Parker can’t catch them all. Williams was mightily impressive last season until he was injured. If he recaptures even part of that form he is going to skyrocket in value. If you went RB heavy early, you could do alot worse than grabbing Williams as a boom option

Michael Pittman Jr. (IND, Rostered 26% Leagues)

I feel like Pittman is going to be a guy I’m going to look back at this season and look like a genius (or an idiot). Pittman is a big-bodied playmaker, who is ready to win balls thrown in the air. Rivers has long trusted receivers in the red-zone to win the ball over defenders. There have been reports of struggles in camp, however, we will know very early if Pittman will be a big part of the offense or not. That conclusion should allow you to cut bait, or double down early in the season.

2020 Adds Before The Season: TEs

Eric Ebron (PIT, Rostered 34% Leagues)

Ebron will be improved this season. I don’t think that’s a hot take or anything, he just has a great QB throwing him the ball. When he last had a truly effective QB throwing him the ball in Andrew Luck, he had a fantastic season. I’d be happy to roll the dice on Ben Roethlisberger’s health, and therefore Ebron’s fantasy outlook for the season.

Jack Doyle (IND, Rostered 28% Leagues)

As with Pittman, Doyle is an effective receiver in tight areas of the field. If Pittman does flame out, then it’s likely that Doyle has emerged as the receiver that Rivers looks to in the end zone. The landscape at TE isn’t the greatest, so why not roll the dice on someone with an effective QB?
