The season is moving along as we enter Week 12 of the 2021 season, continuing our IDP Start ‘Em Sit ‘Em series. Only a few weeks left for most leagues, you do not want to be a coach watching others continue to play… Do you? Roster management is at a pinnacle in order to earn a playoff spot. Let’s play the teams/players that will get us points, and pine the others!
As always, if you are struggling with a decision you can checkout our rankings for each Week. Or, if you want a more personal touch, reach out on social media. You can find us on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram. Or jump into our Discord server.
Start ‘Em
Philadelphia Eagles @NYG
The Philadelphia Eagles are a soaring team. They have won 2 in a row and can put themselves to be 1 game back from NFC East division leader. Their Defense has 4 turnovers, and 2 touchdowns during this span. They are traveling to the struggling Giants and playing one of the most turnover-prone QBs in the NFL. Play them.
Carolina Panthers @MIA
The Carolina Panthers are half a game out of the playoffs but their defense is playing superb. They have 7 sacks, 3 turnovers, and only 37 points allowed in the past 2 games. They should feast against the Miami Dolphins offense in what is the lowest scoring line of the week (41.5).
Deeper leagues: New England Patriots v TEN, Houston Texans v NYJ
Sit ‘Em
The L.A. Rams should be put on the pine as the have been unable to make plays and their offense is struggling. Look for more of the same against a hot Packers offense and top 5 defense.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have a tough draw against an offense scoring at will, pine them. The Seattle Seahawks are running into an offense in rhythm, pine them against the Football Team.
Start ‘Em
Going with a same game match up with two kickers that could put up big numbers. Greg Joseph (MIN) and Robbie Gould (SF) play against each other and each defense is allowing yards and points. There is a chance for multiple field goals for each of them, and possibly a game-winning kick to boot.
Deeper leagues: Mike Badgley v TB, Chris Boswell @CIN
Sit ‘Em
Evan McPherson (CIN) could see a lot of this game from the sideline, particularly if the Bengals have difficulty moving the ball downfield, or are forced to play from behind.
Harrison Butkner (KC) may have had a rough patch, but do not drop him on the bye. He is on a Chiefs team that is beginning to put up points and has a favorable playoff schedule. Pine him and have for rest of the season.
Start ‘Em
Sam Hubbard v PIT
Hubbard has 4.5 sacks in the past 4 games. He will be playing against the statue that is Big Ben, and should be generating pressure in a loud stadium. Hubbard is playing at a pro bowl level and this divisional rivalry game could have massive implications at the end of the season. Pro Bowl players make big plays in these games.
Kenny Clark v LAR
It is difficult for an interior lineman to have a dominant performance and be listed on the Play or Pine article. Clark is a dominant and special Nose Tackle with an opportunity to really tilt the Rams vs Packers game. He has dominated offensive linemen across from him, often blowing them 5 yards off the line. The Rams have lost their last 2 games because teams have generated pressure directly in front of Matthew Stafford. Look for Clark to have his best game of the season.
Deeper leagues: Nick Bosa v MIN, Justin Houston v CLE
Sit ‘Em
Emmanuel Ogbah (MIA) is having an excellent season, but he will have time catching and bringing down big Cam Newton. Pine him this week. Emmanuel Ogbah (MIA) is having an excellent season, but he will have time catching and bringing down big Cam Newton. Pine him this week.
Start ‘Em
PIT & CIN LBs
Focusing on one game, and it’s usually the best game of the week when the play… Not because of the offense, but because of the hard hitting and big plays made by the defense. Of course it is the Steelers at Bengals game. Logan Wilson (CIN) will be busy tackling RB N. Harris where ever he goes, and Harris should have a high volume game. Wilson could easily get 10 or more tackles this week.
TJ Watt (PIT) missed last week and has a history of huge games after a week off. Joe Burrow is forced to scramble, due to bad protection, and TJ Watt will be looking to bring him down. Not only that Alex Highsmith (PIT) has 17 tackles, 4 QB hits, and 1.5 sacks in the past 2 games. He will be bringing pressure from the other side. It wouldn’t surprise me if there was over 8 total sacks in this game. Play the edge rushers of Pittsburgh.
Deeper Leagues: Kyzir White @DEN, Jordyn Brooks @WAS
Sit ‘Em
Devin White (TB) has a questionable tag, did not finish last week’s game, did not practice Wednesday or Thursday, and Arians has mentioned his back up could see an uptick at snaps this week. As difficult as it is Pine the LB stud.
Kyle Van Noy (NE) had the game of his career last week, do not expect the same results, pine him as the Patriots will control the clock most of the game.
Start ‘Em
Darius Slay @NYG
Slay is having an amazing past two weeks with 2 TDs in the past 2 weeks. He is facing off against Daniel Jones which means the chances for turnovers. Do not be surprised if Slay has another interception this week.
Xavier Howard v CAR
Howard has been back to the elite form he was in last year. He has 9 tackles, 2 passes defended and a touchdown in the past 2 weeks. As much as an improvement as Cam Newton has been for the Panthers, he is still prone to turnovers. Howard has the potential for a big week, Play him.
Deeper Leagues: Antonie Winfield Jr @IND, Jeremy Chinn @MIA
Sit ‘Em
A.J. Terrell (ATL) has 16 tackles in the past two weeks, but the Jaguars will look to control the game via running/play action. He wont be targeted as often by Lawerence as other QBs in the league. Pine him.
Tyrann Mathieu and L’Jarius Sneed (KC) are 2 DBs inside the top 16 and on bye this week. If in deeper leagues or leagues that require 2 or more DBs, you should Pine them. Kansas City should be playing with a lead in most of their remaining games, allowing for their secondary to make big plays. Hold them if you can.
