Our Houston Texans 2022 Fantasy Preview gives you the run down on the teams outlook going into the season. The Texans decided to rearrange the furniture on the Titanic in changing coaching staff, but keeping the role in building and promoting staff that were in place last season.
They also have (from the looks of it) thrown in the towel for the time being, letting talent get out of the door, and not really replacing it.

Positional Previews
Notable Players- Davis Mills
Mills had a bit of stink over him, but that is largely due to the team being bad rather than him. The thing is, there isn’t exactly a buzz around him. Certainly for single QB leagues he is off the radar.
There are rumours the Texans could pick up Jimmy Garoppolo if he is cut, which would dump Mills firmly to being undrafted. Mills hasn’t shown ability with his feet to give you fantasy points, and frankly the talent around him is sub-par.
The thing is, I feel like you could put Tom Brady in here and there wouldn’t be a huge shift in fantasy outlook.
Notable Players- Dameon Pierce, Marlon Mack & Rex Burkhead
The Texans backfield is one area that is up for grabs, get the right guy and you could have a decent backup. Get it wrong and you have a cut candidate.
Dameon Pierce is the current lead candidate, due to the fact that there are no other bodies of note to really challenge him. The thing is, and the reason you’d only likely get a backup, is that he needs to be able to shoulder a good workload. The Texans offense just isn’t effective enough to support a player out of the backfield through efficiency.
Marlon Mack and Rex Burkhead are on the roster. And they feel like they are really lottery tickets. With this position, on this roster, I’ll take Pierce if he falls to me, but I’m not feeling like I have to target him.
Notable Players- Brandin Cooks, John Metchie & Nico Collins
The receivers room is basically (as it has been for a while) Cooks and then a bunch of guys. So, I’ll tell you what I think of those guys, then circle back to Cooks.
Metchie was a player that would have been drafted higher if it wasn’t for the ACL injury he suffered. Keep an eye out closer to your draft on his progress. I’ve seen reports he could be fine for Week 1, as well as start the season on the PUP list.
Collins is the type of player you’d pick up in a pinch on any other roster. His size gives him a good advantage over defenders, but he has struggled to make an impact in the NFL. With limited RZ opportunities, it’s best to avoid unless you are in the deepest of leagues.
So that brings us back round to Cooks. Cooks has been a great fantasy option near enough every season that he has played in the league. His shear volume is unheard of. With the lack of talent around him, there is no doubt he is going to command a significant number of targets. That volume gives him appeal as a WR3 in drafts with upside.
Notable Players- Brevin Jordan
With the lack of scoring opportunities, and the lack of talent on the roster, I’ve be looking elsewhere frankly. The way the team rotate through players is hard for anyone to have fantasy value.
