2022 Seattle Seahawks Fantasy Preview

Notable Players- Geno Smith & Drew Lock

The Seahawks have been rumoured to be looking at adding a veteran passer via trade or picking up a player that gets cut. That could mean that the starting QB for the team isn’t even on the roster yet.

For the time being, we are looking at a ‘battle’ between Smith and Lock, two players that were drafted by different teams and have failed to be successful consistently in the NFL. Being totally honest, even if one of the players were to win out for the season, I don’t think I’d draft them still. Avoid.

Notable Players- Rashaad Penny, Kenneth Walker III & Chris Carson

The Seattle backfield has been fertile ground for fantasy, with the importance the team place on the running game. The thing is, it’s rare that you find one body that does it throughout the season. Instead they shuffle and change the lead back, but when they play they have fantasy value.

Penny finished the season incredibly strongly, which is going to make people forget about the struggles he has had earlier in his career. It’s likely that Penny will start the season for the team, before Walker becomes the starter.

Walker will probably see action from Week 1, it just won’t be a big share. Walker is my preferred option from this backfield, purely because I’d prefer to go for the younger option in the offense. Once he wins the job, he will be an RB2 with RB1 upside, it’s just a question of when.

Carson is unfortunately a victim of circumstance. I’m not considering him in drafts. His injury history means he is far more likely to be on the sidelines for the season than have fantasy relevance this season.

Notable Players- DK Metcalf, Tyler Lockett & Whoever else

This offense is likely to take a step back. Moving from Wilson to either Smith, or Lock, or whoever the team brings in is likely a downgrade.

The player that is hit by this move more is Lockett, just because his fantasy value really came from his chemistry with Wilson. He is still going to have fantasy relevance, but he is unlikely to reach the same levels of previous seasons, meaning he is likely to be a draft bust. (Purely based on where you need to draft him).

Metcalf is more interesting. He didn’t have the same level of chemistry with Wilson, he was just a baller. That should allow for him to develop chemistry with the new QB. I’m still not 100% sold on Metcalf at his current ADP, because of the QB downgrade. I still have him as a WR2 though, so don’t hear what I’m not saying.

Outside of those two, just forget it. There are going to be players that perform in flashes, but not enough to rely on week to week.

Notable Players- Noah Fant & Will Dissly

Fant was moved in the trade that moved Wilson on. He steps in as the day one starter in the offense at the position. However, expect his fantasy relevancy to take a hit. During his time in Denver, he was a receiver who operated at times as a secondary receiver in the offense. With Metcalf and Lockett very much firmly ahead of him in the receiving pecking order. 

Then, you need to factor in the fact that Dissly will have those typical big-game appearances that he has every season. I wouldn’t be targeting Fant in drafts, but would take him if he fell, and Dissly isn’t worth considering outside of deep best ball drafts.
