Start’Em
Matthew Stafford v ATL
Stafford wasn’t in a good spot last week against a tough Bills defense, but this week, he should be able to bounce back. The Falcons defense was terrible last year, and they just allowed Jameis Winston to throw for 269 yards and 2 TDs. This is a get-right game for Stafford and the Rams.
Kirk Cousins @PHI
Cousins just tore the Packers defense up for 277 yards and 2 TDs, which could have been more if Justin Jefferson managed to drag his toe an inch or two before. This week, the offense travel to the Eagles, who just made Jared Goff’s led Detroit look effective. Cousins should be in for a big game.
Trey Lance v SEA
Yeah, last week wasn’t good. But there were alot of factors, mainly the weather, but injuries to starting pieces on offense too. Lance did show his ability with his legs though, with 13 rushes for 54 yards. That rushing floor is solid, and the Seahawks defense has allowed plenty through the air. Second times the charm?
Sit’Em
Justin Fields @GB
The Packers defense were just ripped by an effective Vikings offense on the road. With the Packers now welcoming another divisional rival, they are going to look to make a statement. Fields could perform effectively for fantasy, but I’d look at other options this week.
Tom Brady @NO
If there was a sit that is potentially going to bite me, it’s this one. Brady hasn’t performed very well against the Saints since he has been in Tampa Bay. Well, he has had one strong game. But since he is also without Chris Godwin, if you have a better option I’d be fine with it. **CUE HISTORICALLY MASSIVE GAME**
Start ‘Em
Antonio Gibson @DET
Gibson seemed like he was on the verge of being cut during preseason, but played the majority of snaps in Week 1. His involvement in the passing game is especially great for fantasy. A matchup against the Lions gives him another opportunity to impress against a weak Detroit defense.
Darrell Henderson v ATL
Henderson was the starter for Week 1, and performed well against a tough Buffalo defense. That should give him the opportunity to again shoulder the load in a high-powered offense. The Rams are likely to make a statement in this game, even if Cam Akers were to steal some carries, Henderson should be effective for fantasy.
Rhamondre Stevenson @PIT
Stevenson was a player that I was in on during the offseason, and he didn’t really live up to expectations for Week 1. But, with some injuries to the pass-catchers from the backfield, I feel like this game is one where he is going to get more touches. Worth a flex consideration this week against a TJ Watt-less Steelers defense.
Sit ‘Em
Dameon Pierce @DEN
Well. That train stopped suddenly. Pierce was barely on the field last week, and as a result, wasn’t able to have a good fantasy performance. The fact that the Texans were in a game script that should’ve allowed Pierce to be on the field and the team opted for Rex Burkhead instead. Against a Denver defense hurt from a Week 1 loss, not great.
Travis Etienne v IND
Etienne isn’t really going to be fantasy viable for me until either the Jaguars offense improves significantly, or James Robinson is out of the picture. Until then, you’ve got two players eating into each other’s production on an offense that isn’t the best in the league. A tough Colts unit too? Nope.
Start ‘Em
Julio Jones @NO
Jones isn’t the washed up player that many thought he was this offseason. Jones was targetted five times in Week 1, only behind Mike Evans. With Chris Godwin out of the lineup, Jones should enjoy seeing secondary coverage against a team that he had performed against well against in the past. Jones should be able to perform as a WR3 with upside.
Christian Kirk v IND
Kirk was a start last week, and is another start this week. His contract means that he is likely to be put on the field often. After an impressive performance against Washington, he is clearly the primary receiver for the Jaguars. His volume will put him constantly in the low-end WR2 conversation.
Allen Robinson v ATL
You might be worried about his showing in Week 1, but when you look back at the tape, he was free quite often but just wasn’t looked at. This game against Atlanta is a get-right for the Rams offense. If Robinson struggles in this one, it’s ugly. But a coach like Sean McVay is going to see that tape and change the offense to exploit that space.
Sit ’em
Kadarius Toney v CAR
Well. After Toney looked great during the offseason, I was in on him in a few lineups. And he played seven snaps. Yep. Seven. He did make plays when he got the ball, and there is certainly upside in owning him, but until he sees the field in a meaningful way, he is a sit.
Elijah Moore @CLE
If you have Moore on a roster, the good news is that this isn’t the finished article for the season. Joe Flacco isn’t going to be throwing the ball for the whole season. But, at the moment Moore is suffering. He only had 7 targets when the team threw the ball 59 times. Finishing with fewer targets than both Jets RBs, Corey Davis and Garrett Wilson.
Start ‘Em
Pat Freiermuth v NE
Freiermuth had a good showing in Week 1, catching 5 of 10 targets for 75 yards. The offense for the Steelers is still needing to find it’s feet, with Mitchell Trubisky throwing the ball now. But you can’t ignore this volume of targets- even against a tough Patriots defense.
Cole Kmet @GB
The Bears offense doesn’t have alot of offensive pieces, which is exactly the appeal of Kmet for fantasy. The Bears are going to pass the ball more this week than they did against the 49ers, and the Packers defense while effective has struggled against the position.
Sit ’em
Dalton Schultz v CIN
I was off of Schultz for the season, and without Dak Prescott throwing the ball, it feels even more of a fade. The offense is going to change, and be less efficient with Cooper Rush throwing the ball. As a result, even against a CIN defense that has handed points to the position, I’m looking elsewhere.
Hunter Henry @PIT
For the second week in a row, I’m off Henry. Jonnu Smith was given more of the ball than Henry, and the team are looking at being led by Mac Jones who missed some time with a back injury. I’d leave the TD-dependent Henry on my bench.
Start ‘Em
Green Bay Packers v CHI
This game is one where the Packers as a whole are going to be wanting to make an impact. The Bears offensive line isn’t good, and while they didn’t implode against the 49ers, they didn’t really have the upper hand- the weather did.
Cincinnati Bengals @DAL
After losing to the Steelers in overtime, the Bengals get to face a Prescott-less Cowboys team. A new QB is always a struggle, and the Bengals defense has playmakers.
Sit ‘Em
Philadelphia Eagles v MIN
The Eagles fantasy week was saved with a defensive TD, as they struggled to stop the Lions scoring on them. This week they face a Vikings offense that just lit up the Packers defense. With the struggles they’ve had in their secondary, not this week.
Dallas Cowboys v CIN
The Bengals offense turned the ball over several times last week. The Cowboys defense are full of playmakers who can force turnovers. But this week, the Bengals offense are going to be looking to get back to moving the ball effectively. With the Cowboys defense likely on the field for alot of the game, I’d look elsewhere.
Start ‘Em
Younghoe Koo @LAR
Koo is back to his best, attempting to keep the Falcons offense in games with his leg. Koo converted two 50-yard kicks, and was accurate elsewhere. The Rams defense are going to be hungry to bounce back from their loss to the Bills, which should lead to more FG attempts.
Cade York v NYJ
York made an impact as he kicked the Browns to a victory to start the season. That winning kick was a 58-yard attempt, with no time left on the clock. Against the Jets, he should have a more relaxed time out, especially given how many points they have allowed to kickers.
Sit ‘Em
Wil Lutz v TB
The Tampa Bay DST is a strong unit, especially up front. Last week they managed to stop the Cowboys from progressing up the field enough to attempt kicks, which they are going to push to do against the Saints.
