Welcome to Week 4 of the 2022 season IDP Start ‘Em Sit ‘Em series. Week 3 brought us plenty of sacks, interceptions, and overall low scoring games….All of which is great for IDP & D/ST. Can you imagine missing out on Brandon Graham’s career game of 2.5 sacks, 6 tackles, 1 forced fumble? He did all of that on 27 snaps too… Last week is over though, let’s focus on some of the great matches in week 4.. This week, we have some nice matchups in what should be another great week of NFL Action. Some players here are ‘streaming’ options. However, some performances will become weekly starters. Here’s a few IDPs that have value this week, and possibly beyond.
As always, if you are struggling with a decision you can checkout our rankings for each Week. Or, if you want a more personal touch, reach out on social media. You can find us on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram. Or jump into our Discord server.
Start ‘Em
Jonathan Allen @DAL
Allen hasn’t stuffed the stat sheet but has 9 tackles, 1 sack, 3 TFL, 1 pass defended, and 2 QB hits. He has a favorable match up against the Dallas Cowboys and a patch work offensive line. This is one of the most bitter rivals in the NFL and the defensive line is primed for a great game against a back up QB.
Cameron Jordan v MIN
Jordan has a way of shining bright on the big stage. He will be playing in the first London match of 2022. He is up against an average offensive line in the Vikings, which he should take advantage of. He has 14 tackles, 3 for loss, and 1 sack, look for him to add to the sack total and deliver a big play.
Chris Jones @TB
Jones is filling the stat sheet with 6 tackles, 2 sacks, 3 TFL, 1 forced fumble, 2 passes defended, and 3 QB hits. Way to go big fella. He is being utilized in multiple spots on the defensive line to exploit match ups. He is often double teamed but has been close to many sacks and tackles for loss. Tampa Bay’s offensive line had trouble with Green Bay and likely will have trouble with Jones. Play him!
Sit ‘Em
Myles Garrett @ATL
Garrett is someone you never expect to see on the Pine list. With the news of his recent car crash he could be at 80% his normal self, or less. Put him on the pine and save him for another week.
Brandon Graham v JAX
Graham had an amazing week to boost himself into the top 10 DL. A FF truth is to use extreme caution when chasing points. Graham is not an exception as T. Law has 3 great WRs in Jacksonville not to mention Mr. Prove everyone wrong, James Robinson. They will shift Lawrence away and use quicker passes to cool down the Eagles pass rush. Pine him.
Also keep an eye on Joey Bosa (LAC). Sit him on IR if you have a spot available
Start ‘Em
Malcolm Rodriguez v SEA
Rodriguez’s snap count may not be as high as others, but his ability to fly to the edges in the run game, and him being targeted in the passing game should give him plenty of tackling opportunities. Look for him to add to his 22 tackles with a heavy dose of Seattle’s Penny/Walker and targets to the Tight Ends from Geno. Pick him up and play him.
Mykal Walker v CLE
Walker is having an excellent year, and after 3 weeks he has accumulated 22 tackles, 1 sack, 1 interception, 1 forced fumble, 1 QB Hit, and 2 passes defended. He should see significant work against the RB tandem of Chub and Hunt, look for a possible 10+ game which is a bonus in some leagues. Play him with confidence in streamer or one time use leagues.
Patrick Queen v BUF
Queen is asked to cover a significant part of the field, yet he is generating pressure to QBs with 1 sack and 4 QB hits. He has 18 tackles through 3 games, and is playing the offensive machine that is the Buffalo Bills. He will likely be targeted in the passing game, but may be schemed to blitz Allen or stuff a run. He should exceed his average of 6 tackles this week. Play him
Sit ‘Em
Quincy Williams @PIT
Williams is dealing with a high ankle sprain and is doubtful against the Steelers. He has 18 tackles, a key role in this defense, and is used to rush the passer. It would be wise to put him on the pine as you won’t find much better all around LBs, particularly in deeper leagues.
Tremaine Edmunds @BAL
Edmunds has 17 tackles, 1 sack, and 1 pass defended, but he will not have several of those same opportunities for tackles against the Ravens. Lamar Jackson passes to his WRs on the perimeter, and TE Andrews will likely be tasked by safety Poyer more than Edmunds. As difficult as it is pine him this week.
Start ‘Em
Roger McCreary @IND
McCreary has played almost every defensive snap for the Titans. In doing so he has lead the team in tackles in back to back weeks. He has a total of 23 tackles and as he is leading the team as a rookie. Pick him up and play him against the Colts and going forward if he’s available.
Charvarius Ward v LAR
Ward has earned 17 tackles, 1 interception, 1 forced fumble, and 3 passes defended. He is a leader in the young secondary and they are playing the pass happy LA Rams. It is yet to be determined how he will be utilized, but Stafford has been targeting multiple receivers. Ward should have 5+ tackles with a chance at another interception. Play him.
Jonathan Jones @GB
Jones will likely be on the field 35+ snaps against a good Green Bay offense. He has 10 tackles, 1 interception, and 2 forced fumbles. He should go above his 3.3 tackle average and the packers are -2 in the turnover department. He could rip the ball away after a reception. He is likely available in all leagues if you are in need of a DB or looking for a depth piece, add him and play him this week.
Sit ‘Em
Nate Hobbs v DEN
Hobbs has been lighting it up in his 2nd year. He is covering elite pass catchers and bringing the wood in the running game. Unfortunately he is concussion protocol and did not practice Wednesday. Putting someone averaging 8 tackles a game on the pine is difficult but there is a good chance he doesn’t play, or if he does will be less effective. Pine him as he’s too good to drop.
Josh Metellus @NO
Metellus may have displayed that the heir to Harrison Smith is in good hands. He stepped in and earned 11 tackles and an interception. He should have a role going forward for the Vikings, but Smith is an All-Pro who was playing at an All-Pro level prior to the concussion. With Smith returning Metellus’ value takes a massive hit. Keep an eye on how he is utilized this week in London, but Pine him if you picked him up.
