Welcome to Week 5 of the 2022 season IDP Start ‘Em Sit ‘Em series. Last week was full of great IDP performances, week 5 could shape up for a good one as well. This is the final week before bye weeks begin. Be prepared and plan for bye weeks a week ahead of time. Some players here are ‘streaming’ options. However, some performances will become weekly starters. Here’s a few IDPs that have value this week, and possibly beyond.
As always, if you are struggling with a decision you can checkout our rankings for each Week. Or, if you want a more personal touch, reach out on social media. You can find us on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram. Or jump into our Discord server.
Start ‘Em
Rashan Gary v NYG (London Game)
Gary has been on this list once before, and he will be on it again. He is at an All-Pro pace, and there is too much greatness this Sunday in the London game to miss out. Gary has 19 tackles, 5 sacks, 1 FF, 1 FR… all of those numbers could go up Sunday regardless of who the QB for the Giants is. Streaming options look no further. Play with confidence!
Myles Garrett v LAC
Garrett has only 3 tackles and 1 sack in the last 3 weeks. He was in a horrific car crash that forced him to miss last week. The Chargers are without their stud left tackle and Garrett should be letting some frustration out this week. The Browns are playing good football, but they need their best player to have a great game for a chance to cool off the red hot Chargers. Play him with confidence.
Jeffery Simmons @WAS
Simmons has been lackluster the past couple of weeks. The big man is often double-teamed and plays from the interior which is difficult to generate points. Not to worry, a match up against the Commanders Offensive line should fix that. Look for the 2019 1st rd pick to get a sack and a few tackles before the Titans go into their bye week.
Sit ‘Em
Melvin Ingram @NYJ
Ingram has simply been on fire. He’s on a roster in most IDP leagues and he has been living on the big play. He could do it again against the Jets, but Wilson is a quick and deceptively strong QB. Pine him this week
Brandon Graham @ARI
Graham is still making plays in his 12th season. He has earned a tackle in every game and a sack in every other, with this week set to add another sack. Kyler Murray is extremely difficult to chase down, the Eagles will be on a heavy rotation against the high volume of the Cardinals. Pine him.
Also keep an eye on Joey Bosa (LAC). Sit him on IR if you have a spot available
Start ‘Em
Myles Jack @BUF
Jack is going to see so many defensive snaps against the Bills this week, he should easily go over 8 tackles. He has been the Steelers high motor, tackling machine and there is no reason to believe the Steelers will control the pace of this game. Play him.
CJ Mosley v MIA
Mosley is playing so well he could be a 2022 Pro Bowl candidate. He has had over double digit tackles the past 2 games and with check down Teddy throwing against him he could have his highest tackle total of the year. Play him and watch your opponent pull their hair out with every tackle.
Devine Deablo @KC
Deablo was thought to see a downgrade with the Raiders LB room returning to full health. Instead he led the team in tackles against the Broncos week 4. He has 38 tackles in 4 games, and he is going to see plenty of snaps against Mahomes and the Chiefs. If he is used to cover CEH and Kelce he could have his second 10 tackle performance. He is likely available in your league, pick him up and play him.
Sit ‘Em
Frankie Luvu v SF
Luvu has been a stud for us, and been featured in the Play column. He is battling a severe shoulder injury (devastating for LBs), he didn’t practice Thursday, and was a very limited Friday participant. DO NOT DROP HIM. PIne him and keep an eye for a Sunday designation. Use caution if you do play him this week, one hard hit and he’s out.
Leighton Vander-Esch @LAR
Vander-Esch is arguably having his best season in the NFL, 27 tackles and 1 sack in 4 games, all of which came under 70% of defensive snaps. He is worth a roster spot, do not drop him. The Rams are awful at running and he is not their best coverage LB, look for less snaps as the Cowboys should dominate this game.
Start ‘Em
Eddie Jackson @MIN
Jackson has 30 tackles, 3 INTs, and 1 FF through 4 games. He is going to see plenty of targets and have opportunities for tackles against the pass happy Vikings. Look for at least 6 tackles and possibly an interception against Kirk Cousins this week. Play him.
Jalen Pitre @JAX
Pitre is the real deal. If you took last week’s advice to pick him up and place him on the pine, now is the time to PLAY him. The Jaguars have given up turnovers and he should be on pace for his 5+ tackles, with a sack or turnover well within reach. They have a bye next week so a win would really make the 2 weeks without a game a better experience. Play him.
DeShon Elliott @NE
Elliott has 28 tackles in 4 games, including a team leading 11 last week. They are up agaisnt the Patriots who will run and throw short passes often. This could lead to another 10+ tackle performance from easily the best member of the Lions secondary. The Lions too go on a bye in week 6, expect the Lions to lay it on the line and build some momentum going into the bye week.
Sit ‘Em
Tariq Woolen @NO
Woolen has been on fire but let’s temper some expectations. Monitor the match up between the Saints this week. Grab him, put him on the Pine, and lets see if he’s consistent.
Jordan Poyer v PIT
Poyer is out this week, he keeps battling through injuries. If in a shallow league it’s okay to drop him, if in a deeper IDP league, let’s put him on the pine and see if he can recover. He’s a top 10 DB when healthy, be optimistic and pine him.
