Welcome to Week 11 of the 2023 season, and our Start ‘Em Sit ‘Em series. This is where all the hard work is done as we prepare for another week of hard-hitting action and paper championships.
As always, if you are struggling with a decision you can checkout our rankings for each Week. Or, if you want a more personal touch, reach out on social media. You can find us on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram. Or jump into our Discord server. All stats refer to 1/2 PPR, 6 point per passing touchdown leagues. The number in brackets next to an opponent is that teams rank against the position. Rank 1 is the best possible matchup, Rank 32 is the worst. Follow me on Twitter @FFMadScientist
Start’Em
Jordan Love, Packers v LAC (2)
Love has cooled of significantly after a blistering start to the season. He seems to be having a hard time adjusting to the new looks defenses have given him and has been relegated to superflex relevance and nothing more. This week however, he gets a matchup with the Chargers who are the 2nd best matchup for quarterbacks and are allowing 20.9 fantasy points per game to quarterbacks.
Brock Purdy, 49ers v TB (4)
Purdy is a perfect system quarterback for the 49ers who looked much better in Week 10 after struggling for several weeks with Trent Williams out of the lineup. This week he faces off against a Buccaneers defense that is the 4th best matchup for quarterbacks as they are allowing 19.3 fantasy points per game to the position.
CJ Stroud, Texans v ARI (6)
Stroud has been on fire over the past six weeks and appears to be a bonafide stud even as a rookie. In Week 11 he faces the Cardinals who are the 6th best matchup for opposing quarterbacks. Arizona is allowing 18.6 fantasy points per game to the position and Stroud will have little trouble dismantling them.
Sit ‘Em
Zach Wilson, Jets v BUF (30)
Wilson has been Wilson this season, so it’s no surprise he is in the sit column even in superflex leagues. To make matters worse, he faces as Bills defense this week that is the 3rd worst matchup for quarterbacks, allowing 12.8 fantasy points per game to the position.
Kenny Pickett, Steelers v CLE (29)
Expectations were high for Pickett coming into his sophomore season and he has been a massive disappointment through ten weeks. This week he will square off against division rival Cleveland. The Browns are the 4th worst matchup for quarterbacks and are allowing only 12.9 fantasy points to the position.
Baker Mayfield, Buccaneers v SF (26)
Mayfield has been surprisingly good and has met expectations and then some this year. In Week 11 however, he gets a matchup with the San Francisco 49ers who are the 26th worst matchup for quarterback and are limiting quarterbacks to 13.7 fantasy points per game.
Start ‘Em
Ty Chandler, Vikings v DEN (1)
It appears Alexander Mattison’s days off being the inefficient lead back for Minnesota have come to an end. Ty Chandler appears to be taking over the job and in Week 11 he gets a matchup with the Broncos who are easily the best matchup for running backs, allowing 27.0 fantasy points per game to opposing running backs.
Devin Singletary, Texans v ARI (3)
Singletary stepped in for injured Dameon Pierce in Week 10 and performed at a level we hadn’t seen out of Pierce all season. This week we are unsure of how the backfield will shake out if Pierce is healthy, what we do know is that it will be against a Cardinals defense that is allowing 24.5 fantasy points per game to running backs and is the 3rd best matchup to the position.
Aaron Jones, Packers v LAC (6)
Jones has been hampered by injury for a good portion of this season and it has hurt his fantasy production. This week he gets the benefit of a matchup with the Chargers who are the medicine that heals all. The Chargers are allowing 22.4 fantasy points per game to running backs and are the 6th best matchup for the position.
Sit ‘Em
Isiah Pacheco, Chiefs v PHI (32)
Pacheco has been an underrated star all season and has produced as a borderline RB1. This week he faces the best run defense in the game. The Eagles are currently allowing only 10.5 fantasy points per game to running backs and are a must-avoid.
D’Andre Swift, Eagles v KC (27)
Swift has cooled off over the past few weeks after a hot start as the Eagles pass game has been more involved than the run game. This week Swift faces the Chiefs who are the 5th worst matchup for running backs and are allowing only 14.6 fantasy points per game to the position.
Khalil Herbert, Bears, v DET (26)
Herbert is no guarantee to play this week but if he does he will be adding to a messy backfield that gets a bad matchup. Herbert is likely to split reps with D’Onta Foreman and Roschon Johnson. This week they face the Detroit Lions who are the 6th worst matchup for running backs and are allowing 14.6 fantasy points to the postion.
Start ’em
Rashee Rice, Chiefs v PHI (2)
Rice has been teetering on the edge of a breakout as the Chiefs WR1 and that full breakout could be set to arrive in Week 11 against an Eagles pass defense that ranks as the 2nd best matchup for wide receivers, allowing 34.6 fantasy points per game to the position. Here comes the second half breakout we’ve been waiting for.
Terry McLaurin, Commanders v NYG (3)
McLaurin and breakout star Sam Howell have turned the Commanders passing game into a show to behold. No one could have predicted the Commanders quarterback would be leading the NFL in most passing categories, but here we are. In Week 11 this high-flying passing attack gets a matchup with the New York Giants who are the 3rd best matchup for wide receivers as they give up 34.0 fantasy points per game to them. Smash McLaurin this week!
Brandon Aiyuk, 49ers v TB (4)
Aiyuk has been the WR1 for the 49ers this season as he has managed to outproduce Deebo Samuel consistently. It can at times be tough to feed all the high-end mouths in this offence but against a Buccaneers pass funnel defense that allows 33.5 fantasy points per game to receivers, there is more than enough ball to go around.
Sit ’em
George Pickens, Steelers v CLE (31)
Pickens was the Steelers’ WR1 for a few weeks with Diontae Johnson on the shelf, but over the past few weeks that role has been given right back to Johnson. This offence is nowhere near potent enough to support two high-end assets and Pickens should be avoided at all costs against a Browns defense that allows only 21.4 fantasy points to opposing receivers.
DK Metcalf, Seahawks v LAR (28)
The Seahawks have become a nightmare that features five offensive weapons that are all being involved in the game plan. Metcalf has always split targets with Tyler Lockett, but with Jaxon Smith-Njigba carving out a larger role every week he has become a massive risk. This week he faces the Rams who are the 4th worst matchup for receivers as they allow only 22.6 fantasy points per game to the position.
Devonta Smith, Eagles v KC (30)
The emergence of AJ Brown as an absolute target monster has lead to the corresponding disappearance of Devonta Smith. He has quickly gone from the WR1B to the WR2. This week he faces the Chiefs who are allowing 21.9 fantasy points per game to opposing receivers, the 3rd worst matchup in the NFL. Sit Smith until he is able to turn it around.
Start ‘Em
Trey McBride, Cardinals v ARI (2)
McBride has been the beneficiary of a Zach Ertz injury and the volume that has followed has been truly elite. McBride has seen a level of targets that is almost unmatched by tight ends and with Kyler Murray back at quarterback he could be a second-half league winner. Add in a Week 11 matchup with the Texans who are allowing 12.2 fantasy points per game to tight ends and this could be his coming out party.
Sam LaPorta, Lions v CHI (4)
LaPorta has cooled off a bit since his early season hot start. In Week 11 however, he faces the Bears who are the 4th best matchup for tight ends and are allowing 12.0 fantasy points per game to the position. Fire up LaPorta once again as a top-5 tight end.
Luke Musgrave, Packers v LAC (5)
Musgrave is a talented tight end and has a great matchup this week with the Chargers who are allowing 11.7 fantasy points per game to tight ends. That’s the 5th best matchup. If Musgrave can find his way to earn targets with a young receiving corps he could be in store for a huge game.
Sit ’em
Pat Freiermuth, Steelers v CLE (32)
Freiermuth looks to make his return from the injured reserve in Week 11 but he will do so with a healthy receiving corps and a matchup with the Browns who are easily the worst for tight ends, allowing only 4.8 fantasy points per game to the position. Better days are ahead for Freiermuth, but this won’t be one of them.
Cade Otton, Buccaneers v SF (30)
Otton has started to come on as of late and his high snap share is finally starting to lead to consistent production. As good as he has looked recently , he simply cannot be trusted against the 49ers. San Francisco is the 3rd worst matchup for opposing tight ends and are limiting the position to 6.2 fantasy points per game.
Irv Smith, Bengals v BAL (27)
Smith is the bad combination of bad player and bad matchup. He faces the Ravens this week who are allowing only 6.7 fantasy points per game to tight ends. Add in that he was seemingly replaced by Tanner Hudson and I’m completely out on the once promisin Irv Smith.
