Welcome to Week 13 of the 2023 season IDP Start ‘Em Sit ‘Em series. For those new to the article, know that Play or Pine will cover IDPs which might seem like an obvious start. The reason is that IDP leagues vary so much; one-time use for the season, 2 IDP starters in 10 team leagues, 11 starters in 14 team leagues, and roster requirements of various sorts throughout the world. So if one seems obvious it could be because the projections indicate this could be their best week of the season.
NFL Week 12 was another successful one for King Fantasy Sports. This column has predicted the highest scoring IDP two weeks in a row! Jessie Bates really delivered for his owners, and likely lifted several teams to several wins. In a game when celebrities were falling from the sky, J. Bates was giving the Atlanta Falcons flight. The Falcons are in first place and much to the displeasure of Arthur Smith, had the highest-scoring IDP. Haason Reddick and Quincy Williams were letdowns from the Linebacker position, but they were not duds. DeForest Buckner and Michael Hoecht were excellent double-digit defensive linemen too. A quick recap before an examination of Week 13 which some have labeled, Byemageddon. The teams on bye are; Baltimore Ravens, Buffalo Bills, Chicago Bears, Minnesota Vikings, NY Giants, LV Raiders. Get players from those teams out of starting lineups.

Start ‘Em
Christian Wilkins (MIA) @WAS
Wilkins is having another solid season, and having one of his best statistical years. He has his career-best in sacks, and had two last week. The loss of teammate Jaelan Phillips creates a void of pass pressure, and C. Wilkins is versatile. The Miami Dolphins play the Washington Commanders who have the most pass attempts in the league with 486. C. Wilkins should have his opportunities for another sack this week.
Brian Burns (CAR) @TB
Burns recorded a sack last game and has two weeks with double-digit points. The Carolina Panthers recently fired head coach, Frank Reich, but that will not improve their offensive troubles. The Panthers have a few IDPs who are having a great season, and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have allowed a sack in every game but one this season, and allowed six last week.
Sit ‘Em
Kayvon Thibodeaux (NYG) BYE
Thibodeaux is having an excellent sophomore season, and has earned 11 sacks thus far. He has matches against the Green Bay Packers, New Orleans Saints, and Los Angeles Rams for the championship game. If dropped, go get him!
Start ‘Em
Ja’Whuan Bentley (NE) v LAC
Bentley has been a high floor linebacker this season, with 6.75 points being his lowest score of the season. The Patriots have arguably one of the worst offenses of the decade, and the defense is seeing more opportunities due to it. Bentley has been one of the best Patriot IDPs, and although injured, still putting up fantastic numbers. The Los Angeles Chargers run several offense formations, but are active with their running backs and tight ends, which will benefit Bentley. He was picked up on waivers in three leagues, look for him and play him.
Dennis Gardeck (ARI) @PIT
If you are in need of a deep dive, look for Dennis Gardeck of the Arizona Cardinals. The Cardinals are playing the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Steelers offensive line have allowed a sack in all but one game this year. In fact they have allowed three or more sacks in seven games this season. D. Gardeck has five sacks on the season and could earn one more against the slow Kenny Pickett.
Sit ‘Em
Terrel Bernard (BUF) BYE
Bernard has quietly been one of the best linebackers in the NFL. While the concern was Terrell Edmunds would be difficult to replace, and Matt Milano’s loss would be sorely missed, it simply is not true. T. Bernard is currently the sixth-highest-scoring linebacker and could finish the season as a top five IDP. He is worth up to 80% of your remaining FAAB if dropped, take advantage.
Start ‘Em
Reed Blankenship (PHI) @DAL
If you have R. Blankenship you are starting him, but in a one and done league, or a league where only one IDP needs to be started, look at him. He is due for a season high game and is already having a Pro Bowl caliber year. R. Blankenship has 9.00 points or more in every game this season, and has a season high of 23.00 in a game. He should go over that. The San Francisco 49ers and the Philadelphia Eagles do not like each other, and all players will be bringing extra juice. This game ended on a sour note in the NFC Championship, and there have been chirpy comments from players and fan bases. Grab R. Blankenship and trust him in what will be a rocking home game.
Kendall Fuller (WAS) v MIA
Are you in need of a deep dive at defensive back? K. Fuller has not had a double-digit game in five weeks, but could be due this week against the Miami Dolphins. It seems like almost every offensive play the Dolphins run gets to the second or third level of the defense. His first double-digit tackle performance of the season could be on deck, and he is available in almost every league.
Sit ‘Em
Nate Hobbs (LV) v MIN
Hobbs has recorded double-digit scores in every game he has finished. He missed four games in the middle of the season and could be forgotten in several leagues. He has matches against the Los Angeles Chargers and Kansas City Chiefs. Stash him if you can and enjoy a high-floor DB.
