Welcome to Week 15 of the 2023 season IDP Start ‘Em Sit ‘Em series. For those new to the article, know that Play or Pine will cover IDPs which might seem like an obvious start. The reason is that IDP leagues vary so much; one-time use for the season, 2 IDP starters in 10 team leagues, 11 starters in 14 team leagues, and roster requirements of various sorts throughout the world. So if one seems obvious it could be because the projections indicate this could be their best week of the season.
Week 14 brought a few surprises, including a questionable player being the highest scoring player of Week 14, Maxx Crosby with 40.75 points. Roquan delivered on his one and done with over 20 points, and Josh Metellus made another big play for the Minnesota Vikings. Did you know he has lined up at every position on the defense. He has played all three phases of the defense including cornerback and defensive tackle. That is extremely rare, so rare that I have never seen it in my lifetime. Week 14 was an absolute dud for Play or Pine, but we are in the playoffs and that is the focus now. First a quick recap of last week.

Maxx Crosby (LV) v LAC
One and Done candidate and he is sharing the spotlight in the column. He has 13.5 sacks on the year tied for the third most in the league. He is injured and did not practice Tuesday with a game this Thursday against division rival Los Angeles Chargers. He will also have the benefit of playing against the backup quarterback instead of Justin Herbert. He could be leading the league in Sacks after this game, Trust your one-and-done, even though he’s hurt and on a short week.
Kahlil Mack (LAC) @LV
The leading sack artist will be on the field Thursday too, and his name is Kahil Mack. K. Mack is turning back the clock and having an All-Pro caliber year. The problem is, it’s hit or miss. He only had two tackles last week and is playing on a short week. Not to fear, as this is going to be a true sack-town showdown with K. Mack and M. Crosby playing against backup quarterbacks. Mack could really get some separation on Danielle Hunter, TJ Watt, and Trey Hendrickson with a sack or two.
Sit ‘Em
Aaron Donald (LAR) v WAS
As difficult as it is to pine a Hall of Fame guy and a DL that has earned you several points, it’s time to bench Aaron Donald. Washington passes so much, but A. Donald will continue to be double-teamed and he’s just not generating the pass rush he once did. He has less than one sack in his last four combined games. Pine him for another week.
Start ‘Em
Alex Anzalone (DET) v DEN
Anzalone returned from injury and recorded nine combined tackles. He is available in several leagues and if you are in need of a solid floor linebacker, with a high ceiling, go get him. The Lions are playing the Denver Broncos, and Anzalone is familiar with Sean Payton who drafted him. A double-digit tackle day along with a big play could be in store for A. Anzalone.
Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah (CLE) v CHI
Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah (JOW) is having his best year. He already has a career high in tackles, 75, and the Cleveland Browns have won with three different starting quarterbacks. That is a silent nod to the Brown’s defense, and JOW is at the middle of it all. He had eight tackles last week and hosts the Chicago Bears this week. A win for the Browns would drastically improve their playoff chances. The Bears are a run heavy team, including their quarterback Justin Fields. JOW could spy and will be crashing into any running play. Expect a ten tackle game from JOW this week.
Sit ‘Em
Kaden Ellis (ATL)
Another top name in Kaden Ellis that you should probably pine. He could make a big turnover and that would be his saving grace. Not because he is bad, but because he is playing against a bad offense in the Carolina Panthers. He will likely see a low amount of snaps as the Falcons look to control the time of possession with running plays and long drives. Pine him this week
Start ‘Em
Kamren Curl (WAS) @LAR
The Washington Commanders are coming off a bye week, and are well rested. Their starting safety should be ready for a pass attack from the LA Rams. It should be a high volume for Kamren Curl helping against Cooper Kupp, Puka Nukua and other Rams pass catchers. He has not had a ten tackle game in over a month, but could see a double-digit game. Play him.
Jabril Peppers (NE) v KC
The New England Patriots could have a winning streak if they take down the Kansas City Chiefs. If they do Jabril Peppers will need to continue to make big plays, he could be available in your league, if so go get him. He is due for a high tackle game against Travis Kelce and the Chiefs. If he earns eight tackles and is part of a turnover, he will have at least a 12 point game. Play him if you are in need of defensive back help.
Sit ‘Em
Darius Slay (PHI) @SEA
Big play Slay is having an excellent year and is coming off a great game against the Dallas Cowboys, despite the loss. He is four tackles away from setting his career best, which spans twelve years in the NFL. However the Eagles are playing the Seahawks who are banged up on both sides. The Eagles are looking for a much needed win. They will look to run the ball and control the game, limiting D. Slay’s volume. Pine him this week.
