Welcome to Week 15 of the 2023 season, and our Start ‘Em Sit ‘Em series. This is where all the hard work is done as we prepare for another week of hard-hitting action and paper championships.
As always, if you are struggling with a decision you can checkout our rankings for each Week. Or, if you want a more personal touch, reach out on social media. You can find us on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram. Or jump into our Discord server. All stats refer to 1/2 PPR, 6 point per passing touchdown leagues. The number in brackets next to an opponent is that teams rank against the position. Rank 1 is the best possible matchup, Rank 32 is the worst. Follow me on Twitter @FFMadScientist
Geno Smith, Seahawks v PHI (1)
Smith is a mystery. One boom week, one bust week and one injured week. No one really knows what to expect with Smith who currently sits as QB18. This week he goes up against the Eagles who are the best matchup for quarterbacks. Philadelphia is allowing 22.3 fantasy points per game to opposing quarterbacks and should allow Smith to get back on track just in time for the playoffs.
Matthew Stafford, Rams v WSH (2)
Stafford has been awesome in three consecutive matchups and is blessed with yet another great matchup. In Week 15 he gets to go up against the Washington Commanders who are the 2nd beast matchup for quarterbacks. The Commanders are allowing 20.4 fantasy points per game to the position and should put Stafford in the mix for QB1 overall on the week.
Russell Wilson, Broncos v DET (4)
Wilson has been consistently average. He has been a locked and loaded high-end QB2 every week this season. While he may lack ceiling, he gets a prime matchup this week with the struggling Detroit Lions who are the 2nd best matchup for quarterbacks. The Lions are giving up 19.3 fantasy points per game and will allow Wilson to use his arm and legs to amass a solid outing.
Desmond Ridder, Falcons v CAR (32)
Ridder was excellent in Week 15 in a prime matchup but has put up three bad games for every one good game. This week his matchup is terrible as he faces the Carolina Panthers who are the worst matchup for quarterbacks. The Panthers are allowing 13.0 fantasy points per game, making Ridder a desperation option only.
Baker Mayfield, Buccaneers v GB (30)
Mayfield has been a consistent mid-range QB2 this season but has not shown much of a ceiling for fantasy. In Week 15 he goes up against the Green Bay packers who are the 3rd worst matchup for quarterbacks. The Packers are allowing only 13.5 fantasy points per game to the position and will limit Mayfield’s upside.
Justin Fields, Bears v CLE (28)
Fields has been awesome rushing the ball since returning from injury, but he’s been terrible throwing the ball. This week he faces one of the league’s best defenses. The Cleveland Browns are the 5th worst matchup for quarterbacks. Cleveland is allowing 14.0 fantasy points per game to opposing quarterbacks and Fields will have to survive off of insane rushing totals making him a risky start.
