Ahead of our slate breakers article, I thought I’d write up some of my favorite DraftKings stacks for Week 18 of the 2023 season. There are a few articles you can find on why stacking is effective for DFS, so we won’t recap that here.
Instead, I’ll outline the criteria for being included:
- Main slate only
- Stack will include QB & 2 other players (optional bring back noted)
Stack 1 - Green Bay Packers (v CHI)
Spread GB -3 (GB implied 24 Pts)
QB Jordan Love ($6,600)
RB Aaron Jones ($6,300)
WR Jayden Reed ($5,700)
Optional bring-back D.J. Moore (CHI) +$7,000
Green Bay are on a ‘win and in’ situation for the playoffs, so they are going to be going all out to win this. The Bears are going to be wanting to spoil the party for them, and have an effective defense. Love has been great this season, throwing the ball effectively to his receivers. Led the Packers to an important victory over the Vikings, with another game with multiple TDs in the air, and a short-yardage score on the ground. At the moment, I’d go with Jones in this stack. Wouldn’t normally go for an RB, but the Bears have struggled to defend the position this season. With the uncertainty over the health of the Packers receivers, I’d go with Jones’ volume of carries. One receiver who should be healthy is Reed, who leads the Packers in receptions, yards, and joint lead in receiving TDs.
The Bears offense is massively funneled, with Moore at the top of the pile with 130 targets for 92 receptions, 1,300 yards, and 8 TDs. The Packers secondary performed well last week, but have been middling against receivers otherwise. Moore had a great game last week against the Falcons, and their secondary has been a better unit against WRs this season.
Stack 2 - Jacksonville Jaguars (@TEN)
Spread JAX -5 (JAX implied 23)
QB Trevor Lawrence ($6,800)
WR Calvin Ridley ($6,500)
TE Evan Engram ($5,400)
Optional bring-back DeAndre Hopkins (TEN) +$6,100
The Jaguars are another team that need a win- if they get it they win the AFC South. For the Titans, are looking to next season. Lawrence has returned to practice too, and should be able to play in this one. The team also welcomed back Christian Kirk too, but I prefer Ridley who has been getting more consistent target and reception numbers. The variable for him has been the yardage totals- but he had a great game when he faced the Titans earlier this season. For the other Jaguar, Engram gives you a decent floor and ceiling combination. He leads the Jaguars in targets and receptions, with 39 in his last four games. Has really established a role in the offense as the checkdown option in the middle of the field to move the chains.
The bring-back options for the Titans feel a little limited. Henry has been struggling to move the chains, despite his volume, and the Jaguars defensive line has been good at limiting production too. Spears has been getting a handful of carries, as well as usage in the passing game. But again, doesn’t feel like he is a strong play here. So if I wanted to go with a bring-back it would be Hopkins. Getting volume through the air, he can catch any passes that come his way. The Jaguars secondary have struggled at time to limit production to the position.
Stack 3 - Dallas Cowboys (@WAS)
Spread DAL -13 (DAL implied 30 Pts)
QB Dak Prescott ($8,000)
WR CeeDee Lamb ($9,300)
WR Brandin Cooks ($5,200)
Optional bring-back Terry McLaurin (WAS) +$5,500
The Cowboys have on paper a nice game to finish the season. They’d have preferred a home game, but the struggles of Washington shouldn’t give them too much to worry about. Heavy favorites, which could mean that they take some starters out if they do get out to a big lead. As a result, I’ll have some lineups with the likes of Rico Dowdle here. But, if they do get out to a big lead it’ll likely be that their ariel attack has been productive. Prescott and Lamb have been a great combination this season- one of the better in the NFL. The real choice comes in with the third piece. Cooks should be inline for a decent number of targets against this Washington secondary.
I was tempted to go with Curtis Samuel or Logan Thomas with this bring-back. But ultimately decided that garbage time with McLaurin could be productive. Has been getting plenty of targets in the offense, Washington are likely to need to throw it early and often in this one.
