Welcome to Week 2 of the 2023 season IDP Start ‘Em Sit ‘Em series.
For those new to the article, know that Play or Pine will cover IDPs that might seem like an obvious start. The reason being IDP leagues vary so much; one time use for the season, 2 IDP starters in 10 team leagues, 11 starters in 14 team leagues, and roster requirements of various sorts through out the world. So if one seems obvious it could be because the projections indicate this could be their best week of the season. So without further ado, here are the Play and Pines of week 2

It is safe to say week 1 was a success for both sides of article. Let us keep the momentum rolling into Week 2.
Start ‘Em
Will Anderson (HOU) v IND
Looks every bit as advertised. He earned 17.50 points and if you had hesitation about putting him in as your starting roster, those should be put to rest. He is up against a rookie QB in Anthony Richardson. Another big performance should be on the horizon against the Indianapolis Colts who do not have the best offensive tackles.
Cameron Jordan (NO) @CAR
Jordan did not skip a beat. He usually has slow starts to his season, but not this year. He had 5 tackles, 2 passes defended, 1 QB Hit, and 0.5 sacks… That is filling up the stat sheet. Not bad for a 12-year player. This week he is up against another rookie QB with a less-than-stellar line. The Carolina Panthers ran often last week, which should allow Jordan to earn some tackles. C. Jordan’s high football IQ leads to several passes defended, and against the 5′ 10″ Bryce young Jordan’s long arms will create a problem. Look for another dominant performance from C. Jordan.
Sit ‘Em
Dorance Armstrong (DAL) v NYJ
Armstrong had 25.50 points last week and was a hot waiver add. Do not fall for the trap! He had only 18 snaps but managed to earn 3 tackles and 2 sacks against the New York Giants. If he keeps this pace up he will crush the sack record by over 10 sacks… that is not going to happen! Pine him week 2.
Start ‘Em
Kwon Alexander (PIT) v CLE
Alexander is likely available in your league, check the waivers to see. Go grab him right now, as his 9 tackles last week led to 12.75 points. He was a consistent defender on a terrible week 1 performance from the Steelers. Guess who is coming to town this week? The run-heavy Cleveland Browns. Can you fathom the headache it is for Mike Tomlin facing Christian McCafferry one week and Nick Chubb the next? Oy vay, talk about a double dose of ground and pound. This will benefit K. Alexander immensely. With future hall-of-fame member DT Cameron Heyward set to miss multiple weeks, Chubb (and QB DeSean Watson) will consistently reach the second level forcing Kwon to make the tackle. Expect a double-digit tackle performance and as stated he is likely free.
Kyzir White (ARI) v NYG
White is likely available for your team as well. He shouldn’t be though. He led the Arizona Cardinals in tackles, was hand-chosen by new Head Coach, Jonathan Gannon, to lead the defense. White had a top 10-year last year in Philadelphia with J. Gannon, it is shaping up to happen again. The Cardinals are a bottom-five offense. This will benefit White, who played 71 snaps last week, with more opportunities. Look for him to get 10+ tackles against the New York Giants.
Sit ‘Em
Zaven Collins (ARI) v NYG
Collins was held over from the last regime. He is an athletic and large guy (6′ 4″ 260 lbs), and new Head Coach Jonathan Gannon has moved him to an outside linebacker (OLB). This seems like a good fit thus far. However, Z. Collins floor from last year is gone, and it will be boom or bust weeks. Do not expect an interception and fumble recovery from Collins in week 2. Pine him.
Start ‘Em
Jessie Bates (ATL) v GB
Bates had an excellent week 1. He was on the waivers in most leagues, and may have been picked up. If you did play him against the top-notch offense of the Green Bay Packers. Bates has been given the opportunity to shine as THE safety on a defense. The Atlanta Falcons defense is loaded with talent and Bates has the advantage of being active in the run game (10 tackles last week), and the pass game 2 interceptions. Expect a high tackle game against the Packer high pace offense.
Nate Hobbs (LV) @BUF
He was injured last season but he is an excellent tackling DB. He led the Raiders in tackles with twelve last week, and against pass-centric Buffalo, the tackles should be over ten once again. The Raiders offense is a little out of rhythm which allows for more snaps for N. Hobbs, and as we saw Josh Allen is still turning the ball over. A big play on top of ten tackles could lead Hobbs to DB1 on the week.
Sit ‘Em
Reed Blankenship v MIN
Blankenship came out and proved his 2022 week 12 breakout game against the Packers was not a fluke. He earned 24.25 points behind 11 tackles and excellent sideline-to-sideline coverage. Here is the issue, the Philadelphia Eagles are scheduled to play on Thursday and he is injured. He could play, because football players are tough, but if he is it is a guarantee he won’t be 100%. It is trending to him not playing, do not drop him though. Put him on the pine and save him for later weeks.
