Well we are done with the second week of 2023 action, so time to finetune your roster with our Week 3 Waiver Wire pickups. Going to be alot of action this week on the wire with Saquon Barkley and Nick Chubb missing time (Chubb far more significant). If you were caught by any of the injuries from this past week- this should help you navigate your way through.
Making the right moves on the waiver wire is how you can really win your league. Getting those upside-depth pieces, and cutting the players that are going to struggle from your roster is going to help you going forwards
Rules for Selection & Order Priority
For a player to be considered to be added, they have to:
- Have an rostered % of 50% or under on ESPN
- Players below are listed by their roster %, not priority. Know your league settings. If there is a high-priority add, you’ll know.
Jordan Love (GB) 39.8% rostered
Love didn’t get the victory over the Falcons, but he looked comfortable leading the Packers offense, with another 3 passing TD display. Next up will be his first game at home, and while the Saints defense is a tough unit, Love is worth considering.
Matthew Stafford (LAR) 29.6% rostered
Stafford has been performing well on the field, but that hasn’t quite translated to fantasy just yet. With the receiving corps that he has, he has good streaming appeal for the next few weeks.
Baker Mayfield (TB) 10.4% rostered
Mayfield has started the season looking alot more assured than many expected. He has developed an almost immediate relationship with Mike Evans, and looked comfortable in the offense. Next up is a tough Eagles defense, but they can be attacked through the air.
CJ Stroud (HOU) 7.4% rostered
The rookie QB impressed with 384 yards and 2 touchdowns in Week 2, making him a promising fantasy option. Stroud is the 1st rookie QB to have 600+ passing yards and 0 INTs through Week 2 of his rookie season. Hasn’t really started to boom, as he hasn’t rushed the ball, but he has the ability to.
Others to Consider
- Desmond Ridder (ATL) 2.3% rostered
- Joshua Dobs (ARI) 0.8% rostered
Jaylen Warren (PIT) 40.4% rostered
Warren is most likely owned in your league, but if he isn’t, you should add him. The Steelers offense isn’t potent, but Najee Harris is looking sluggish on the field. Warren has carved the pass-catching role in the offense, and has looked good in it. If Harris were to miss time, he would be a huge add.
Zack Moss (IND) 32.1% rostered
Moss had a stellar Week 2 performance and is a priority pickup with Jonathan Taylor’s status uncertain. Ending the week playing 98% of snaps and no other running back touched the ball in this game. Ending the week with 18 rushing attempts, 4 targets and a touchdown on the ground..
Gus Edwards (BAL) 32.0% rostered
Edwards looks to be the every down back in Baltimore with the injury to Dobbins in week 1. He rushed just 10 times for 62 yards and a touchdown. Edwards could be headed towards touchdown dependency with Mark Andrews and Zay Flowers as receiving options, but viable if you need a starter at running back with injuries popping up.
Damien Harris (BUF) 18.9% rostered
James Cook had a great week 2, but Damien Harris was the goal line back. Ending with a touchdown on just 7 rushing attempts for 33 yards. If you need a spot fill in for Saquon, and Breida is picked up. Harris could be a great touchdown-dependent option.
Jerome Ford (CLE) 9.1% rostered
With Nick Chubb going down for the season with an unfortunate knee injury, Ford is going to step right into that Chubb role. In the offseason, Kareem Hunt leaving was a big story for Nick Chubb’s opportunity and second to that was the talk of Jerome Ford. He needs to be picked up in any format as he ended his week 2 with 31 carries, 142 yards, 1 touchdown and 3 receptions.
Matt Breida (NYG) 1.1% rostered
Matt Breida is going to once again step up for Saquon Barkley in the backfield to fill in for injury. Barkley suffered an ankle sprain in the Giants’ win over the Arizona Cardinals that will keep him out three weeks, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Others to Consider
- Tyjae Spears (TEN) 13.0% rostered
- Chuba Hubbard (CAR) 16.0% rostered
- Kareem Hunt (FA) 5.6% rostered
- Ty Chandler (MIN) 4.6% rostered
- Pierre Strong (CLE) 0.2% rostered
Tutu Atwell (LAR) 31.7% rostered
The headline receiver hasn’t been Atwell, but he has had some good performances to start the season. The Rams offense has certainly been performing more effectively than expected without Cooper Kupp in the first two weeks, and Atwell has been getting a healthy target share.
Jayden Reed (GB) 13.9% rostered
Jayden Reed had a breakout performance in Week 2 with 8 targets and 4 receptions. He’s being used as a versatile gadget player, and if Christian Watson continues to struggle with injury, Reed could see increased opportunities in Week 3.
DeVante Parker (NE) 11.7% rostered
After missing Week 1, DeVante Parker came back strong, receiving 8 targets and making 6 receptions. Given his offseason contract extension, expect him to play a significant role in the Patriots passing game going forward.
Josh Reynolds (DET) 4.7% rostered
As the WR2 in Detroit during Jameoson Williams’ suspension, Josh Reynolds found the end zone twice and was targeted 6 times for 66 yards. He’s a reliable flex option if he continues to perform well.
Tank Dell (HOU) 3.8% rostered
Tank Dell, posing to be potential of a 1A/1B in Houston, showcasing his skills in Week 2, playing on 80% of snaps and catching 7 of 10 targets for a touchdown. With a college history of over 1300 receiving yards, he’s poised to be a key player in Houston’s offense.
Others to Consider
- K.J. Osborn (MIN) 27.8% rostered
- Rashid Shaheed (NO) 25.0% rostered
- Allen Robinson (PIT) 11.7% rostered
- Marvin Mims (DEN) 7.2% rostered
- Robert Woods (HOU) 6.4% rostered
- Michael Wilson (ARI) 1.5% rostered
Sam LaPorta (DET) 49.5% rostered
LaPorta has established himself as a great target for Jared Goff, with 11 targets in the opening two weeks. He is most likely owned in your league. But, if he isn’t, he is worth adding before he is unavailable.
Zach Ertz (ARI) 47.3% rostered
Ertz is among the top 5 tight ends in usage through Week 2, with 18 targets. He’s earned 29% target share so far. Last season in 2022, that would have ranked top 2 in tight ends. The last time we saw Ertz healthy all season, we saw a TE6 season from him.
Dawson Knox (BUF) 12.4% rostered
Knox played 84% of snaps in Week 1 and caught a touchdown in Week 2. He’s a solid option in an offense that likes to involve its tight ends Knox got the best of both of the two startable tight ends as he caught the touchdown, after seeing 5 targets for 3 receptions on only 10 yards.
Cade Otton (TB) 1.1% rostered
Otton could be a viable season-long starter at tight end if you don’t have elite options. He caught all 6 of his targets in Week 2, and with a touchdown, he could be a week winner for your team.
