Welcome to Week 4 of the 2023 season IDP Start ‘Em Sit ‘Em series. For those new to the article, know that Play or Pine will cover IDPs that might seem like an obvious start. The reason being IDP leagues vary so much; one time use for the season, 2 IDP starters in 10 team leagues, 11 starters in 14 team leagues, and roster requirements of various sorts through out the world. So if one seems obvious it could be because the projections indicate this could be their best week of the season. So without further ado, here are the Play and Pines of week 2

- LB Jerome Baker (MIA) 7.00pts, 3 Total tackles, 2 QB Hits
- DB Tre Brown (SEA) – 0.00pts, left early due to injury
An excellent week for the Plays with everyone but Chubb scoring great points, and the Maye suspension news coming after the release of the article. 40.90 by Bernard will be difficult to surpass. What an outstanding hit as well as DeMarcus Lawrence best game since 2021, and Kamu Gruiger-Hill coming off the bench for Shaq Thompson filled in nicely.
The Pines of week 3 were absolutely great calls through and through.
Start ‘Em
Haason Reddick (PHI) v WAS
Reddick was an All-Pro last year but has 2.75 points on the season! That is less than a point a game, and in fact he has not scored a point in the past two games. The great thing for Reddick this week is he is playing the Washington Commanders who gave up nine sacks and turned the ball over five times. Reddick may have been dropped or could be the perfect trade candidate. Pick him up and play him.
Uchenna Nwosu (SEA) @NYG
Nwosu has only seven tackles on the season, and zero sacks. Fortunately for him he is playing a night game against the New York Giants… who have really only played 1 quarter through three football games. The Giants have no rhythm on offense and Jones seems panicked and stressed, play Nwosu and watch him have a game similar to the games he had in 2022
Sit ‘Em
Harold Landry (TEN) v CIN
Landry had lofty expectations as one of the few linebackers brought back from last year, but has not lived up to the expectations. He has only one sack and six tackles on the season. To make matters worse he is on a questionable tag as of now. To top it off the Titans play the Cincinnati Bengals this week. With Joe Burrow’s injury the Bengals have switched to a Tom Brady like offense. That is to say they are getting the ball out in less than 2 seconds, leaving no time for the pass rush to get to him. Pine Landry and drop him if needed.
Start ‘Em
Alex Singleton (DEN) @CHI
Singleton may have to increase his snap count and have more responsibility. Fellow teammate Josey Jewell left week 3 with a groin injury. Those usually take time to heal and limit your mobility. Singleton had an excellent year last year, and should be able to take on the responsibility. The Broncos play the Bears this week, and there could be a big play from Singleton on top of ten tackles. Snag him and play him.
Divine Deablo (LV) @LAC
The Las Vegas Raider has been a key piece of the defense this season, but had his worst statistical performance last week. Do not worry. He still has 27 combined tackles on the season, and will likely get double-digit tackles against the LA Chargers this week. The Raiders could be playing with a second or third-string quarterback and that will lead to more snaps for Deablo. Play him with confidence this week.
Sit ‘Em
Frankie Luvu (CAR) v MIN
Luvu has been a man on fire and was listed as the author’s ‘My guy’ with a projection of a top five linebacker. He injured his hip last week, and it forced him to miss the rest of the game. He did not practice Wednesday and could be in line to miss his first game of the season. DO NOT DROP HIM! If you are in a league with 3 or more IDP requirements he should not be dropped. The Carolina Panthers are going to continue to have offensive woes and the defense will see several snaps. Pine him for now and let’s hope he can play full strength after some rest and recovery.
Start ‘Em
Kamren Curl (WAS) @PHI
Curl has had a decent tackling performance with 25 in three games this season. His production has steadily been dropping, but the opportunities are there. The Commanders are playing bitter division rival, the Philadelphia Eagles this week. The Eagles have an offense that gets a lot of snaps and connects first downs for a long drive. This will help Curl immensely. Look for him to get double-digit tackles and possibly have a few passes defended against the high-flying Eagles
Grant Delpit (CLE) v BAL
Delpit is coming off of his worst game in a long, long time. This season alone his score totals have been; 18.25, 19.00, and 3.00 last week. The truth is he was not needed as the Cleveland Browns blew out the Tennessee Titans with an excellent game from the defensive line. Delpit will be needed against the division foe, the Baltimore Ravens this week. Delpit should be helping in run the game, and be glued to Mark Andrews (Lamar Jackson’s favorite target) all game. Look for a return to the teens in points for Delpit and possibly an interception.
Sit ‘Em
Derwin James (LAC) v LV
James has been cited as the number one DB across several IDP rankings. He is one of the best hybrid safeties the league has seen. The problem is, that the six-year vet has not played a full season since his rookie year. A hamstring injury can be tricky, usually takes a full 5 weeks to heal, and if pushed early can end a season. With those facts, do not be surprised if he doesn’t play this week against the Las Vegas Raiders. The Chargers should be able to keep a second-string QB in check with their secondary and a bye week next week would give James at least four weeks of recovery. James should only be dropped in redraft leagues if ruled out for the season. His ceiling is simply too high to give away. Pine him this week and have a DB for the remainder of the season.
