Well we are done with the second week of 2023 action, so time to finetune your roster with our Week 4 Waiver Wire pickups. If you were caught by any of the injuries from this past week- this should help you navigate your way through.
Making the right moves on the waiver wire is how you can really win your league. Getting those upside-depth pieces, and cutting the players that are going to struggle from your roster is going to help you going forwards
Rules for Selection & Order Priority
For a player to be considered to be added, they have to:
- Have an rostered % of 50% or under on ESPN
- Players below are listed by their roster %, not priority. Know your league settings. If there is a high-priority add, you’ll know.
CJ Stroud (HOU) 7.4% rostered
The rookie QB, CJ Stroud, continues to impress in Houston, validating his status as the #2 overall pick in the NFL draft. Stroud has made history as the first player to accumulate at least 900 passing yards, four passing touchdowns, and zero interceptions in his first three career starts. Scoring 20 or more fantasy points in two consecutive games, Stroud is emerging as a potential weekly starter.
Jameis Winston (NO) 0.1% rostered
With Derek Carr sidelined due to a shoulder injury, Jameis Winston could become a viable fantasy starter, given the offensive weapons at his disposal. Winston showcased his deep ball prowess in previous seasons, with a career-high of 5,109 passing yards. Keep an eye on Winston, especially with an upcoming matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 5.
**IF YOU HAVE IR SPOTS** Kyler Murray (ARI) 14.6% rostered
While Kyler Murray’s return from the PUP list may not happen in Week 5 as initially hoped, he remains a valuable asset to hold, especially if your league offers IR spots. Murray’s dual-threat ability places him in the elite QB1 category in fantasy, making him a worthy addition for the long term.
Ezekiel Elliott (DAL) 46.8% rostered
Ezekiel Elliott showcased his ground game with 16 carries for 80 yards in a ground-heavy Patriots offense. With New England favoring run plays on 72.1% of their snaps. Last season with the Dallas Cowboys, whenever Elliott touched the ball 15+ times on the ground, he averaged 12.35 PPR fantasy points. He is a viable flex option going into Dallas this weekend.
Elliott stands as a viable flex option, especially with an upcoming matchup against Dallas.
Elijah Mitchell (SF) 36.7% rostered
Elijah Mitchell returned to the field in Week 3, capturing 34% of the snaps. He displayed promise with 11 carries for 42 yards on the ground. Mitchell remains one of the top handcuffs in the league, with the potential to step into an NFL starting role should Christian McCaffrey face any setbacks.
De’Vone Achane (MIA) 16.1% rostered
De’Vone Achane should be your top priority on the waiver wire this week. Thriving in Miami’s high-powered offense, Achane emerged as the RB1 overall in Week 3. His remarkable performance included 18 carries for 203 yards, averaging an impressive 11.28 yards per carry with 2 touchdowns. Given the injury histories of Jeff Wilson and Raheem Mostert, Achane is a valuable asset to hold for the remainder of the season.
Tyjae Spears (TEN) 15.8% rostered
With Derrick Henry nursing a turf toe injury, Tyjae Spears has been impressive with 46% of snaps, an average of 6.9 yards per carry, and involvement in 98% of 3rd and 4th down plays. As an insurance policy, Spears is a top tier addition, primarily if Henry’s health becomes a concern later in the season.

- Rico Dowdle (DAL) 2.1% rostered
Quinton Johnston/ Joshua Palmer (LAC) 46.2/ 0.7% rostered
Michael Gallup delivered a solid performance in Week 3, catching 6 of 7 targets for 92 yards. While he faces less-than-ideal matchups against New England and San Francisco in the upcoming weeks, he remains a viable flex option, especially for deeper leagues. Keep an eye on his potential as the season progresses, culminating in a matchup against the Chargers in Week 6.
Michael Gallup (DAL) 43.9% rostered
Michael Gallup delivered a solid performance in Week 3, catching 6 of 7 targets for 92 yards. D.J. Chark (CAR) 43.2% rostered
With Jonathan Mingo sidelined due to a concussion, D.J. Chark stepped up in Week 3, attracting 11 targets. Chark’s next challenge lies against the Minnesota Vikings, whose defense has been conceding 1.5 touchdowns to wide receivers and 23.8 fantasy points on average.
Marvin Mims (DEN) 6.6% rostered
Despite playing just 24% of snaps in Week 3, Marvin Mims showcased his potential in the Broncos’ offense. He hauled in 3 of 5 targets for 73 yards and even added a return touchdown to his resume. As the season unfolds, expect Mims to see an increase in playing time, making him a player to watch closely.
Others to Consider
- Rashee Rice (KC) 8.3% rostered
- Josh Downs (IND) 3.2% rostered
Jake Ferguson (DAL) 19.8% rostered
In Week 3, Jake Ferguson tied for the team lead in targets with 7, securing 5 receptions. Given the scarcity of reliable tight ends in fantasy football, Ferguson presents a potential weekly value, especially since Dak Prescott tends to heavily target his tight ends.
Donald Parham (LAC) 0.4% rostered
Donald Parham’s two touchdowns in Week 3 have put him on the radar as a sleeper in a pass-heavy offense. Although he was targeted only twice, both catches found the endzone, highlighting his red-zone potential. Playing 52% of snaps compared to Gerald Everett’s 58%, Parham is worth monitoring as a streamable option, particularly in the upcoming matchup against the Raiders.

- Jonnu Smith (TEN) 0.2% rostered
- Cole Turner (WAS) 0.1% rostered
