Welcome to Week 7 of the 2023 season IDP Start ‘Em Sit ‘Em series. For those new to the article, know that Play or Pine will cover IDPs which might seem like an obvious start. The reason is that IDP leagues vary so much; one-time use for the season, 2 IDP starters in 10 team leagues, 11 starters in 14 team leagues, and roster requirements of various sorts throughout the world. So if one seems obvious it could be because the projections indicate this could be their best week of the season.
As always, if you are struggling with a decision you can checkout our rankings for each Week. Or, if you want a more personal touch, reach out on social media. You can find us on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram. Or jump into our Discord server.

Only one unacceptable score from the plays this week, while the pines showed out as well. Can’t be perfect every week, but if you started anyone listed besides Ed Oliver you were happy.
Start ‘Em
Myles Garrett (CLE) @IND
Garrett is being summoned for his one-time use against the Indianapolis Colts, starting back-up QB Gardner Minshew. The Colts offensive line is back in great run-blocking shape, but their pass protection is not… it’s not even up to average. Richardson was injured, Minshew is taking hits and the Browns defense is rolling! Trust Garrett for his one-time use this week.
Jarran Reed (SEA) v ARI
Reed is coming off of a game which included a sack against the Bengals, and playing the Arizona Cardinals this week. The game is at home with the help of the loud crowd, ‘the 12th man’, which should aid Reed in his pass rush against J. Dobbs. Look for Reed to get another sack against a subpar offensive line. The Seahawks are right in the middle of the wild-card race and can make a jump with a division win. Play him.
Sit ‘Em
Ed Oliver (BUF) @NE
After spending last week as a play an earning 0 points despite playing 67% of the snaps. Oliver finds himself on the pine. ON top of that the Bills are playing the Patriots who have the worst offense in the league. Do not be surprised if the Bills defense has their lowest snap volume of the season. Pine him
Start ‘Em
Jordan Hicks (MIN) v SF
Hicks was the highest-scoring IDP of week 6. The veteran just keeps delivering and was ranked the 16th LB on my season-long projection article, Mano y Mano. While almost the entire IDP community sleeps on him year after year we just keep ranking him as LB 1. Expect him to be just that on Monday when the 49ers come to Minnesota.
Micah McFadden (NYG) v WAS
The second year linebacker has to really fight for points playing alongside Bobby Okereke, but he’s doing it admirably. He has 82 points on the season and is playing against a division rival this week. The Giants host the Commanders and Sam Howell. Howell has been playing well, and the Commanders run several plays. Another plus for Micah this week is Howell throws interceptions and McFadden got one last week. Play him this week.
Sit ‘Em
Cody Barton (WAS) @NYG
It is difficult putting a top tier LB on the pine, but this week is a bit more about being bold. If you are caught with a roster that has several players on bye you might need to play him, and that is okay. If not pine him, as the Giants are playing and Washington could force several 3 and outs… not good for someone that is averaging just under 10 tackles per game.
Start ‘Em
Minkah Fitzpatrick (PIT) @LAR
Fitzpatrick has been more mediocre than magic this year, but he is playing banged up and has a high tackle volume (41 in five weeks). He is coming off of a bye week and was likely dropped in several leagues due to so. The Steelers have a match up against the pass happy LA Rams this week. That should boost Minkah’s production, and with Stafford playing banged up could lead to an interception. If not Minkah is always around the ball and could force or recover a fumble. Play him and expect a big week!
Jerry Jacobs (DET) @BAL
If you are looking for a deep dive, look no further. Jerry Jacobs does not earn many tackles but has 3 interceptions on the season. The Lions are traveling to Baltimore and this could be the best offense the Ravens have seen this season. This will force Baltimore to play with more tempo than they prefer and Lamar Jackson already has 3 interceptions on the season. If you need a big play, deep dive candidate look no further than Jacobs.
Sit ‘Em
Alontae Taylor (NO) v JAX
Taylor has had some hot weeks, but has cooled down as of recently. The Saints have had the easiest schedule we have seen since the Tom Brady Patriot era, and Taylor has not been asked to blitz as much. Pine him aginast Jacksonville this Thursday and keep the DB slot open until Sunday.
