Well we are getting into the middle of the 2023 season with the bye weeks to consider, so time to finetune your roster with our Week 7 Waiver Wire pickups. As the NFL season charges into Week 7, the fantasy football landscape continues to evolve with unexpected performances, injuries, and intriguing opportunities. In this article, we’ll explore the top priority waiver wire additions and some key pickups for various positions.
Whether you need a wide receiver, tight end, running back, or quarterback, there are players available to bolster your fantasy roster. Let’s take a look at some of the recent players increasing in value.
Rules for Selection & Order Priority
For a player to be considered to be added, they have to:
- Have an rostered % of 50% or under on ESPN
- Players below are listed by their roster %, not priority. Know your league settings. If there is a high-priority add, you’ll know.
Derek Carr (NO) % rostered
Carr has returned to form after recovering from a shoulder injury, offering reliable fantasy production. View Carr as a low-end QB2 with potential upside, making him a valuable asset during bye weeks or in case of injuries to top-tier options.
Sam Howell (WAS) 19.1% rostered
Howell continues to impress and ranks as the QB5 before Monday night games in Week 6. He provides a well-rounded package for fantasy production, serving as a suitable QB2 for filling in during bye weeks and potentially becoming a reliable starter in deeper leagues.
Others to Consider
- Desmond Ridder (ATL) 5.2% rostered
Chubba Hubbard (CAR) 46.0% rostered
Miles Sanders’ prospects in Carolina have dimmed due to a groin injury that forced him to miss Week 6. Chubba Hubbard seized the opportunity, rushing for 88 yards and a touchdown on 19 attempts while playing on 77% of snaps. Whether as a lead back or a valuable RB2/RB3 for the rest of the season, Hubbard is a noteworthy addition.
Roschon Johnson/ D’Onta Foreman (CHI) 41.8/ 31.1% rostered
With Roschon Johnson and Khalil Herbert sidelined, Dionte Foreman stepped into the running back role for the Bears, playing on 61% of snaps. It’s possible Johnson reclaims his spot after recovering from a concussion, making both Johnson and Foreman intriguing pickups. Johnson could still be valuable, while Foreman serves as a backup during Khalil Herbert’s IR absence.
Tyjae Spears (TEN) 39.3% rostered
Spears remains a priority waiver pickup, complementing Derrick Henry and the Titans’ offensive scheme effectively. In Week 6, Spears continued to see the field and snaps. Spears also had an impressive 48 yard reception which saved his day as Derrick Henry was dominating on the ground, yet again.
Elijah Mitchell/ Jordan Mason (SF) 26.4/ 1.4% rostered
In the wake of Christian McCaffrey’s Week 6 injury, fantasy owners must exercise caution and look to secure their backfield. Both Jordan Mason and Elijah Mitchell should be regarded as high-priority pickups as we await further news. Mason shouldered the bulk of the workload and found the end zone in Week 6, while Mitchell is a more familiar name in the league.
Zach Evans (LAR) 0.2% rostered
With Kyren Williams nursing a sprained ankle and Ronnie Rivers dealing with an injury, Zach Evans is on the brink of potentially earning a starting role for the Rams. If you’re navigating bye weeks or have Kyren Williams, consider picking up Evans.
Others to Consider
- Ezekiel Elliott (NE) 40.1% rostered
- Latavious Murray (BUF) 6.6% rostered
- Craig Reynolds (DET) 6.5% rostered
Joshua Palmer (LAC) 49.0% rostered
If he’s still available, Palmer is looking like the “alpha” wide receiver 2 behind Keenan Allen, putting the rookie Quinteon Jonston behind in production. Palmer was peppered with targets in week 6 and should look to build off of positive momentum going forward. He can be viewed as a low-end WR2 going forward.
D.J. Chark (CAR) 43.2% rostered
Although D.J. Chark’s Week 6 performance wasn’t as spectacular as his Week 5 outing, he remains an attractive option. Chark continues to see action on 67% of snaps, making him the third-highest in snap share behind Adam Thielen and Jonathan Mingo.
Josh Downs (IND) 32.0% rostered
Downs, the rookie standout for the Colts, has emerged as the team’s second option. He’s on the field for an impressive 78% of snaps, second only to Michael Pittman. Downs added a touchdown in Week 6, and with Gardner Minshew at the helm, his production is likely to continue.
Rashee Rice (KC) 30.4% rostered
Rashee Rice continues to build rapport with Patrick Mahomes and offers reliability as a wide receiver option. With bye weeks approaching, injuries cropping up, and a favorable schedule for Rice and the Chiefs, he’s a compelling pickup. His next three games before the bye week feature matchups against the Chargers, Denver, and Miami.
Curtis Samuel (WAS) 28.6% rostered
Samuel is steadily gaining momentum over the past few weeks and is poised for continued production. He played on 63% of snaps in Week 6, ranking third among Washington’s wide receivers.
Others to Consider
- Jameson Williams (DET) 34.2% rostered
- Kendrick Bourne (NE) 20.0% rostered
- Rashid Shaheed (NO) 13.5% rostered
Jonnu Smith (ATL) 14.8% rostered
The Atlanta Falcons’ offense is firing on all cylinders, generating significant fantasy production, and Jonnu Smith is reaping the benefits. Smith has now posted three consecutive games with double-digit fantasy points. In Week 6, he found the endzone, capitalizing on five targets. Smith’s consistent performance makes him a compelling addition for fantasy owners seeking a reliable tight end option.
Michael Mayer (LV) 1.4% rostered
Rookie Michael Mayer is gaining prominence for the Raiders as he played on 81% of snaps, ranking third behind Devante Adams and Jakobi Meyers. Mayer tallied 6 targets, resulting in 5 receptions for 75 yards in Week 6. His upcoming schedule includes favorable matchups against CHI, DET, NYG, and NYJ, making him a potentially valuable addition.
