Welcome to Week 9 of the 2023 season IDP Start ‘Em Sit ‘Em series. For those new to the article, know that Play or Pine will cover IDPs which might seem like an obvious start. The reason is that IDP leagues vary so much; one-time use for the season, 2 IDP starters in 10 team leagues, 11 starters in 14 team leagues, and roster requirements of various sorts throughout the world. So if one seems obvious it could be because the projections indicate this could be their best week of the season.
As always, if you are struggling with a decision you can checkout our rankings for each Week. Or, if you want a more personal touch, reach out on social media. You can find us on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram. Or jump into our Discord server.

Quite possibly the best ‘Play’ list in seven years of writing this column, an absolute smash! 125.40 points from 6 IDPs, that is 20.9 points per player… imagine if your entire team did that. One miss on Metelllus but all in all one of the best weeks for IDP at King Fantasy Sports.
Start ‘Em
Justin Madubuike (BAL) v SEA
This man has been on a tear in his fourth year, already surpassing his career-high sacks. He has 6.5 on the year, and 26 tackles too. The former, Texas A&M Aggie has 0.5 sack or more in five straight games! His ceiling is stack-dependent but with the Seattle Seahawks traveling across the country and playing at 10:00 AM PT, J. Madubuike has an opportunity to keep the streak going.
Jonathan Greenard (HOU) v TB
Greenard is coming off a wonderful game against the Panthers, despite the loss. He leads the Texans in sacks, and has 0.5 sacks or more in three of his last four games. This week he plays against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers who have given up 3 sacks in back-to-back games.
Sit ‘Em
Montez Sweat (CHI) @NO
Sweat was the week’s big news, as he was traded to the Chicago Bears. He shold have a good opportunity in front of him, but he will need more than four days to learn the communication and rhythm of his new coaches and teammates. Pine him this week.
Start ‘Em
Jamin Davis (WAS) @NE
Davis has recorded two bad weeks in a row, 5.25 and 6.75 points in those outings. However, all but one other week, he has produced 9.5 or more points. He could be dropped due to this fact and is so go get him on the waiver wire. He is up against the Patriots who could be without their top two wide receivers. In addition to that they will run often and pass to their tight ends which Davis will help cover. Play him
Jahlani Tavai (NE) v WAS
Tavai may be in for an increased workload if teammate Je’Whuan Bentley is currently questionable. Even if J. Bentley plays Tavai has been a quite defensive leader for the New England Patriots. He has 47 tackles this season, including seven last week. He is available in most leagues and if you need a LB go get him.
Sit ‘Em
Devin White (TB) @HOU
White is an IDP favorite, and likely rostered in every league, if not starting. The truth is he has not been playing well this season. He has 47 tackles which does put him on pace for 100 tackles, but he doesn’t look explosive. He has zero sacks despite 20.5 in his career, and has only been involved in one turnover this season. Bench him and look elsewhere this week.
Start ‘Em
Josh Metellus (MIN) @ATL
Metellus was a pine last week and earned himself a play this week. It was a risky pine, but with Kirk Cousins going down, the defense will rally. Luckily for them (and him) they are up against back-up Taylor Heinicke this week. Metellus could have a high tackle volume with another big turnover.
Justin Reid (KC) v MIA
Reid is on pace to have a better year than 2022. He has scored 18 or more points in three of his last four games, and could be in line for a huge week nine. Not only are the Kansas City Chiefs playing against the Miami Dolphins, but the linebackers are desperately thin. Reid could be adding more in the ground game, as well as covering Travis Kelce. J. Reid could have his highest tackle volume of the season, play him.
Sit ‘Em
Dax Hill (CIN) v BUF
Hill is stuffing the stat sheet this season, and although expectations were low with the departure of Vonn Bell and Jessie Bates, the Bengals safety play has not dipped. Hill could have his hands full versus a Bills offense that seems to be getting into rhythm. Deep passes along the side might take away some of Hill’s tackle opportunities. Pine him this week.
