2024 IDP DB Sleepers

Entering 2024, regardless of your league structure, you want to find sleepers in your IDP drafts- here we are going to look at Defensive Back (DB) options. The thing with IDP, is that players can have different positional eligibility. For the purposes of this article, we are going to use the positions on the Sleeper platform.

Talanoa Hufanga (SF)

Hufanga missed a whole chunk of games last season through injury. But before that, he was an important part of the 49ers secondary. In 2022, his first full season, he recorded just under 100 tackles, and also made plays around the field. Ended the season with 4 INTS, 2 FF, 2 sacks, 5 TFLs and 3 QB Hits. He was still having an impact on the field in 2023, until he suffered an ACL injury

Hufanga has been overlooked as a result of his status for Week 1 still in the air. But, if you are able to hold him on your bench, or you have multiple IR spots in your league, then Hufanga should be a great IDP sleeper.

Justin Reid (KC)

Reid has been an important part of the Chiefs secondary since he moved over from the Texans, only missing one regular season game in his two years with the team (season finale against the Chargers with nothing on the line). Has nice tackle numbers, with an average of just under 90 tackles in his Chiefs career. So tackle numbers should be there for a decent week-to-week floor.

With the team letting L’Jarius Sneed go, the team have lost a playmaker in their secondary, so there is a need for someone to step up. Trent McDuffie is going to be tasked with being the lockdown corner, but Reid has shown that he can make plays (mainly during his time with Texans). In deeper formats, Reid could have nice value.

Julian Blackmon (IND)

Blackmon comes off the back of his best season in his NFL career, with 88 combined tackles, along with 4 INTs, 2 fumble recoveries, 5 TFLs and a single QB Hit. Blackmon was third in snaps on the team, and there hasn’t been any moves that would impact his ability to see the field.

Depending on your league settings, Blackmon could be a free agent come draft time. His tackle numbers should give him a decent floor, and if he is able to make a few more plays, he could introduce a nice ceiling. If you are in a deeper league, he is worth considering as a bye week fill-in at least.
