It’s finally here- Week 10 of the 2024 season, and another DraftKings main slate. We are back offering you DFS advice to try and help you navigate your way to victories throughout the season. The players selected here are based on their price, their ability to hit value and likely ownership. The selections are leaning more towards GPP slates, rather than cash (50/50) slates. But let’s get into it
Brock Purdy @ TB ($6,500)
Heading into the bye, Brock Purdy seems to have steadied the ship somewhat after a less than smooth start to the season. The San Francisco 49ers sit 2nd in the NFC West with a 4-4 record, and will look to start putting some much needed W’s on the board coming out of their bye week. Purdy sits as the overall QB11 for fantasy on the year – not too bad considering he has three weekly finishes outside the top-12 in his opening 8 games. Despite losing freshly paid Brandon Aiyuk for the season, Purdy has strung together some very usable performances in his last three outings – finishing as the weekly QB6, QB8, and QB7. This offense should be fit and ready to go after a week of R&R, and whisper it quietly…but Christian McCaffrey may return for San Fran’s trip to the other Bay Area. If CMC is back in the lineup, Purdy should have much more freedom in the pocket to hit Deebo, Kittle and Jennings. He’s a solid option at $6,500 this week.
Justin Herbert v TEN ($5,200)
This feels like a mistake – how can a guy who has back-to-back top-12 finishes (and with a QB13 the week prior, it was so close to being three in-a-row) be priced so low? The Chargers started the season very run heavy under new Head Coach Jim Harbaugh, but ever since their week 5 bye, we’ve seen a change in offensive philosophy…and it’s working. Herbert has seen his pass attempts jump from 22 per-game to 33 since week 6, with his passing yards double from 144 YPG to 290. Quentin Johnston and rookie Ladd McConkey are starting to find a rapport with Herbert – and don’t forget about Joshua Palmer. The Chargers passing game seems to be finding its rhythm heading into the second half of the year, and Herbert will get another chance to air it out this week at home to the Titans. Sure, the matchup isn’t great – but at that price, how can you not have him in your lineups. He’s a great budget QB with a high ceiling – ideal to build around with some of the more expensive names on the slate.
Also consider: Sam Darnold @ JAX ($6,200) & Derek Carr v ATL ($5,300)
Aaron Jones @JAX ($6,700)
It’s been a quiet couple of weeks for Jones after an opening four-weeks which had him on pace for almost 1,400 rushing yards on the year. Back-to-back finishes outside the top-24 at the position have seen some cool on the Viking’s lead rusher…but don’t be fooled. The volume is still there for the former Packer, with Jones averaging 20 carries in his last two games, alongside a smattering of targets in the passing game. The Vikings travel south to the Florida sunshine as they take on the Jacksonville Jaguars and their porous run defense this Sunday. The Jags are allowing over 140-yards and a score each week to opposing backs on the year – expect Jones to jump back into top-10 contention with this very favourable matchup.
D’Andre Swift v NE ($6,500)
How many times can we ride the D’Andre Swift train before the wheels fall off? Swift has been nothing short of phenomenal since the Bears victory over the Rams in week 4 – ranking as the overall RB5 in the period since. In that time, Swift has posted four top-10 finishes at the position, and after a somewhat disappointing RB23 performance last weekend, he’ll be looking to get back to business against a Patriots defense allowing over 16 fantasy points per game to running backs. Khalil Herbert has been shipped out of Chicago, leaving only Swift and Roschon Johnson in this backfield – with Johnson only truly seeing third-down work and the Bears sitting as 6-point home favourites – expect Swift to have plenty of opportunities to plough through this very ropey Pats’ run-D. Don’t expect the 6 targets he saw last week, but the extra carries in this soft matchup should more than make up for that.
Rachaad White v SF ($5,900)
The Bucs backfield is ugly – but I just can’t quit it. For the third week in a row, Tampa Bay’s leading running back found the end zone, and for the first time this season…it was on the ground. Rachaad White has disappointed season-long managers who drafted him, but his increased role in the Bucs’ passing offense in the absence of Mike Evans and Chris Godwin has started to pay back those who kept the faith. The third-year back has finished inside the top-24 at the position for three straight weeks now…largely thanks to his receiving work – something that looks set to continue for another week at least as Tampa hosts the San Francisco 49ers. The Bucs head into the game as 6-point dogs…Baker Mayfield will be looking to White plenty once again. Don’t be shocked to see Rachaad finish second best on the ground, but with half-a-dozen targets almost guaranteed, and the upside of a receiving score – he should finish as the day as the back to roster for fantasy.
Also consider: Jonathan Taylor v BUF ($7,500), Brian Robinson Jr. v PIT ($6,300) & Tyler Allgeier @NO ($5,200)
Darnell Mooney @NO ($6,500)
Have a week Darnell Mooney! The Falcons’ summer acquisition entered the week as the overall WR2 on the team and left it as the new WR1. Mooney now leads all Atlanta pass-catchers in total receiving yards and sits just one solitary score behind Drake London on the year. Mooney should get a chance to widen the gap between him and his team-mate this weekend with London facing an uphill battle to face New Orleans after picking up a hip injury in the win over Dallas last Sunday. If London does indeed sit, Mooney has WR1 upside on the week in the divisional matchup against the Saints in a game with a relatively appealing O/U of 46.5. Kirk Cousins has been on fire recently, expect Mooney to continue to reap the benefits of his quarterback’s stellar form.
Khalil Shakir @IND ($6,000)
This could be a case of last man standing in the Bills wide receiver room. Curtis Samuel continues to be plagued by a pectoral injury which has seen him play only a handful of snaps in recent weeks, and rookie Keon Coleman has been added to the injury report with a wrist issue. Shakir has already finished as a top-24 receiver on four occasions this season, and will certainly have the opportunity to do so again as Josh Allen’s first read for the trip to Indianapolis. The Colts are a bottom-10 defense against the pass, and although Buffalo appeared to favour the run game in the early part of the season – Joe Brady has loosened the reins on Josh Allen in recent weeks, allowing his QB to air it out a little more at times. Shakirk will lead the team in targets, and should be set for a solid fantasy outing – he’s excellent value at only $6,000.
Jauan Jennings ($5,100)/Ricky Pearsall ($4,400) @TB
This is a budget-led choice – but one which represents excellent value either way. Jauan Jennins should return to action this week after missing the 49ers’ previous two games with a hip injury – and if he does, will return right into the WR2 role for Brock Purdy in the absence of Brandon Aiyuk. Deebo Samuel and George Kittle will be Purdy’s primary targets downfield, but Jennings has already proven this season he is a more than suitable substitute for any of the top weapons on this offense when required. The narrative for Pearsall is similar – this is a 1st round rookie who is slowly being eased into the gameplan after a shooting incident delayed his pro debut until week 7. Christian McCaffrey looks set to make his first appearance of the year against the Bucs and will likely command his usual handful of targets out the backfield…however, CMC’s involvement will allow Purdy far more time to look downfield more often, benefitting all of his more traditional pass-catching weapons.
Also consider: George Pickens @WAS ($6,800), Jordan Addison ($5,300) & Quentin Johnston ($4,900)
George Kittle @TB ($5,800)
Speaking of George Kittle…the 8th-year veteran leads the team in targets, receptions, yards and touchdowns – and unsurprisingly is the TE1 on the season for fantasy. Kittle has finished inside the top-10 in every week he has suited up so far this year, with a top-5 finish in 5-of-7 appearances. Week 10 will be an excellent opportunity for Kittle to pad out his stats further with the Bucs giving up the second most fantasy points to the position in the entire league. With Kittle being priced $200 cheaper than Kelce, and only $100 more than McBride – he is far and away my favourite play at tight end this week. If you can squeeze Purdy, CMC and Kittle into your lineups – you may just have a week winning superstack on your hands.
Dalton Kincaid @IND ($4,900)
Are we finally starting to see the usage we had hoped for Dalton Kincaid heading into the 2024 season? Week 9 saw the sophomore tight end receive his highest number of targets on the year so far with 10…sure, he only turned those into 4 catches for 32-scoreless yards – but the opportunity is there, and this week Kincaid gets to face a much more appealing opponent in the form of Indianapolis. The Colts rank 29th against opposing TEs and the Bills could be missing both Keon Colemand and Curtis Samuel at the wide receiver position – expect Kincaid to have another busy day.
Also consider: Taysom Hill v ATL ($4,000) & Juwan Johnson v ATL ($3,300)
Philadelphia Eagles @DAL ($3,500)
It appears we’ve entered the Cowboys are in crisis part of the season a little earlier than usual this year – but nevertheless, we’re here! Dak Prescott left last week’s defeat in Atlanta early, due to what was being called a hand injury at the time. Turns out it is a hand and hamstring injury, with the latter looking to sideline the Dallas signal caller for at least four weeks…with some reports signalling he may need season ending surgery. One thing is for sure, Dak ain’t playing against the Eagles, so it will either be Cooper Rush or Trey Lance under center in Arlington for Sunday’s divisional clash against Philadelphia. The ‘Boys have lost three straight and will need a miracle to stop that from being four. Oh, CeeDee Lamb is also hurt, so yeh…good luck Dallas. Philly are my number one DST on the week by a mile.
Chicago Bears v NE ($3,000)
In what feels like an unfair correlation, Drake May’s return to the field for the Pats last weekend went hand in hand for their seventh loss of the season, one week after bettering fellow AFC East strugglers – the New York Jets. Jacoby Brissett led New England to victory over their divisional rivals in week 8, leaving Maye still winless 9 weeks into his NFL career. I am being somewhat harsh, Maye looks relatively competent and is working well with the weapons around him…but that simply won’t be enough to get it done against this very stout Bears defensive unit. If you can’t spend up for the Eagles, settling for Chicago at Soldier Field isn’t the worst back-up.
