2024 Week 3 Dynasty Reaction

With Week 3 of the 2024 season in the books- time for a dynasty reaction!

Malik Nabers– Dynasty WR1 Contender?

Nabers could end the season in the Dynasty WR1 conversation. In what was supposed to be a tough matchup v the Browns stingy defense, Nabers caught the ball 8 times for 78 yards and 2 TDs. He’s now the WR1 in fantasy through 3 weeks pending MNF and is the first WR in NFL history with at least 20 receptions and 3 TDs in his first 3 games. Daniel Jones at QB or not, Nabers is reaching untouchable status in dynasty and if you haven’t got many shares it looks like you’ve already missed out.

Anthony Richardson– Hero or Zero?

Are we concerned with Anthony Richardson? He looks every bit like a QB who’s only started 7 games in the NFL. A perfect tweet I saw over the weekend sums Richardson up perfectly (from @Haas_Football) ‘Anthony Richardson can complete passes that 99% of NFL QBs cannot complete… Anthony Richardson cannot complete passes that 99% of NFL QBs can complete’. He’s ultra talented but the NFL is exposing some of his fundamental flaws and that’s basic ball placement. The worry is the Colts look bad and Richardson completing less than 50% of passes and turning the ball over isn’t helping. He’s not under pressure yet but if this continues into mid-season then we have a proper conversation on our hands.

Patrick Mahomes– Slow Start to the Season

Mahomes is having a career low start to the season, and it doesn’t look like changing anytime soon. Mahomes is averaging less than 220 passing yards per game this season and 1.67 passing TDs. That’s not what we have come to expect with this Chiefs offense that added exciting playmaker Xavier Worthy from the Draft to the already Super Bowl champions loaded roster. Even with Isaiah Pacheco now on the shelf with a fractured fibula, the Chiefs didn’t change their game plan and undrafted Carson Steele came in and looked assured at RB. The Chiefs sit 3-0 and will continue to play this effective balanced style until something changes and that’s the most frustrating thing as a Mahomes owner. The safest asset in all of dynasty football is not producing at an elite level but it’s a risky play to trade him away and seek upside.

Veteran TEs on the way out?

Where in the world is Mark Andrews & Travis Kelce? It’s only week 3 but I’ve officially moved to ‘seriously concerned’ on the panic scale. These were the two elite TEs everybody was scrambling for in the past several years but for dynasty owners in 2024, these are the hot topic and not in a positive way! A saving grace I’m seeing in the community is the fact that the tight end landscape is in tatters to start the season with most of the so called ‘elite’ players not performing. I feel these two cases are much worse though with Mark Andrews running just FOUR routes in Week 3. My hope is he’s still not 100% and playing with a decent lead for most of the game prevented the Ravens from needing his services. Because of your investment and the slow start from most TEs, it’s difficult to trade these immediately but the case is growing.

Saquon Barkley– Soaring High

Barkley will finish the year as RB1. Currently carrying the Philadelphia offense, the concerns over Jalen Hurts siphoning away TDs has been quashed pretty quickly with 2 more rushing TDs on Sunday and 5 total in his first 3 starts. Running behind this Eagles offensive line, Saquon is dominating touches in the backfield and only occasionally coming out for a breather. He’s heavily involved in the passing game to and anything now outside of an injury impact, if Saquon finished outside of the top 3 at the RB position this year, I’d be shocked. If you are a true contender needing a RB upgrade, he’s my target and I’m willing to go all in.

Tyler Huntley to rescue Miami?

Miami weapons need Tyler Huntley to revive their season. It was a horrific showing by the Miami offense at Seattle on Sunday and they need a spark while Tua is getting his body healthy again. Huntley could be that guy to get hem going again, but I wouldn’t expect usual levels of Tyreek Hill & Jaylen Waddle. Huntley famously awarded honours to the pro-bowl one time, hasn’t thrown for 200 passing yards in a game since 2021. Still I think things have gotten so bad that there could be discounts out there for this passing attack and I would be buying if I’m a contender.

Panthers ready to Roar?

Diontae Johnson is back, look out for Xavier Legette. Bryce Young to Andy Dalton is the biggest upgrade since.. Well since Deshaun Watson got hurt and Joe Flacco came in for the Browns in 2023. It was beautiful back then and it was just as pretty on Sunday to the tune of 300+ passing yards and 3 TDs (the only QB to register those stats so far this season, pending MNF). Diontae has new life and looks to be the target hog of the offense. Adam Thielen left the game injured and rookie Xavier Legette benefitted with extra snaps in 11 personnel (he was already out-snapping Thielen in 12 personnel). This could be a buy low offense to target this week and I’m looking to try acquire some Leggette shares before he really starts to pop!

End of the Road for White in Tampa?

Buccaneers might be making a change at RB. Rachaad White is struggling. Yes he has a niggling groin injury but his yard per carry is abysmal and he’s getting trounced by 4th round rookie Bucky Irving. ‘Bucky Bucky Bucky’ was the cry from the home Bucs crowd (the only thing they were able to cheer about in the walloping by the Broncos), the coaching staff are listening. 154 rushing yards from just 25 attempts (6.16 ypc), compare that to Rachaad White’s 66 yards from 33 attempts (2.0 ypc) and you can see why the fans want the change. There’s still time to buy into Bucky Irving while it’s getting ever closer to more of a 50-50 split, there’s only one way this seems to be heading.
