DJ Chark has quickly moved on from Jacksonville, signing with Detroit- head we take a look at the fantasy impact of the move. Chark had a great season in 2019, before struggling with injuries and inconsistent QB play. That’s not the whole story though, as Chark struggled to make an impact on games with struggles of getting more defensive attention.
Moving to Detroit gives him an opportunity to become a leading target on their offense. The question-mark of QB effectiveness is likely to rear it’s head again, as it’s not like Jared Goff is even an average QB. However, Detroit do have some other effective weapons in their offense, as well as a sneakily effective offensive line. That should allow Chark the space to operate as a downfield option in this offense.
The biggest concern to many fantasy owners is the impact on Amon-Ra St. Brown, who had a great rookie season. It shouldn’t impact his role, as St. Brown is still going to play out of the slot. The impact it might have, is that Chark is likely to get more targets than Kalif Raymond (71) or Josh Reynolds (36). With T.J. Hockenson and D’Andre Swift getting targets too, as well as the ground game impact, there may be fewer targets for St. Brown this season.
