DraftKings Football Week 10 Selections

Week 10 is upon us! That means it’s time to look at some selections for DraftKings football contests. The slate this week has a few of the big-hitters unavailable with a number of teams on bye this week, or not on the main slate. Weeks like this are a tough balancing act in spending up where needed and looking for value.

There are two games that are heavily featured in this week’s article- as good offenses meet poor defenses. Without further ado let’s get into the picks!

Week 10 Selections : Quarterbacks

Jameis Winston ($6,800) is in line for a big game this week. Tampa Bay’s offense has been one of the most potent offenses this season, and they need to be. This week Winston faces Arizona, who despite having welcomed back their star cornerback Patrick Peterson, is still unable to stop teams moving the ball through the air. Arizona gives up an average of 27.5 points to the position, and with the multitude of attacking weapons that Winston has, that should be an achievable total for the quarterback this week.

Drew Brees ($6,700) has returned! Returning before New Orleans bye week, the quarterback stepped back into the starting line-up throwing 373 yards, three touchdowns and one interception. That production was after a long time on the side-lines, and without one of the star offensive weapons on the team. This week New Orleans should have Alvin Kamara back in the line-up, having had a bye week to get back to health and install a game plan for this matchup. With Atlanta giving up an average of 24.9 points to the position, expect a big game for Brees.

Sam Darnold ($5,800) is one cheaper option worth considering this week, due to the matchup against New York. Darnold struggled last week in what should have been an easy matchup against Miami, which has kept his price low. The quarterback now enters a period of multiple weeks of matchups that will make him worth consideration. Darnold certainly could struggle in the game, but the saving here would allow for more options in other areas.

Week 10 Selections : Running Backs

Mark Ingram ($7,100) faces Cincinnati this week, a team that struggles to stop running backs, as part of a Baltimore offense that looks to run the ball early and often. While the flow of the game may allow for the team to rotate in Gus Edwards, the damage would have already have been done by Ingram before that.

David Montgomery ($5,300) is one of my favorite options in the mid-tier of costing options. Chicago has struggled to move the ball on the ground at times, but are likely to find success against Detroit. Detroit comes into the game having given up 4.5 yards per carry this season, which is where Montgomery primarily is given work and an average of 33.6 points to the position.

Ronald Jones II ($4,300) impressed last week against Seattle, and after the game, news broke that Bruce Arians was going to entrust Jones to be the team’s lead back. The matchup against Arizona on paper isn’t a great one, with the team only conceding 24.2 points to the position this season, in the lower half of the league. However, despite that, the price allows for that potential lack of production.

Week 10 Selections : Wide Receivers

Michael Thomas ($8,300) might be one of the more expensive players at the position this week. But with Brees returning as the quarterback, facing Atlanta who gives up an average of 42.9 points to the position- this is a great player to build your line-up around. Especially as a stack with Brees at quarterback.

Calvin Ridley ($5,400) allows for more exposure to what should be a high-scoring game between Atlanta and New Orleans. Ridley is currently considered the third receiving option for the team, with Julio Jones and Austin Hooper both having received more targets this season. However, Ridley is joint second in touchdowns scored so far this season. If Ridley is able to get on the scoresheet, then he should deliver significant value for fantasy owners.

Christian Kirk ($5,200) is yet to score a touchdown this season, due in part to the time he has spent on the side-lines, but his involvement in the offense means that is likely to change soon. Taking the 53 targets he has had this season and expanding that to the nine potential games that the team has played would give around 80 targets. That is by far the highest on the team. Facing Tampa Bay who has given up a league-high average of 48 points to the position should allow for Kirk to be given plenty of opportunities to score this week.

Jamison Crowder ($5,000) is, as strange as it seems, the leading receiver for New York this season. With the battle for New York this week, that should allow for plenty of opportunities in the slot this week for Crowder. Crowder has been a reliable outlet for his quarterback this season, leading the team in all receiving metrics this season.

Week 10 Selections : Tight Ends

This week there are a number of tight end options that are on bye, and not included in the main slate. That means that there are more opportunities for players this week that haven’t featured so far this season.

T.J. Hockenson ($3,900) has had an inconsistent rookie season so far, but he has become an important part of the Detroit offense. Chicago is an attractive team to target, given the team has given up an average of 16.0 points to the position, which is especially worth noting given that they have only given up three touchdowns to the position this season. With Hockenson having an established relationship with Matthew Stafford, he is likely to be given plenty of opportunities this week.

Cameron Brate ($3,700)/ O.J. Howard ($3,300) are two players that I’d consider this week, but ultimately I’ll select one once the injury reports are released. I’m not sure which player is due to start, with the recent time missed through injury by Howard. However, Arizona continues to be the matchup to target with the team giving up an average of 22.6 points to the position so far this season. Despite the struggles of both players to be involved in recent weeks, this offers a get-right opportunity for one (or both) to have a good productive game.

Week 10 Selections : Defense & Special Teams

Indianapolis ($3,500) face up against Miami this week, meaning that they are one of the higher-priced units this week. However, despite the high price they are an attractive option for owners this week. Miami has been an inconsistent offense this season, and have recently lost two of their top talents on offense (with Preston Williams now out for the year, and Mark Walton suspended for four games).

Cleveland ($2,500) face Buffalo this week, who have impressed this season. However, that has been more of the ability of their defense to stop teams scoring and holding onto the ball. Quarterback Josh Allen has now been sacked at least twice in five straight games and have only surpassed 24 points once in that same stretch. If you are faced with spending down at the position, Cleveland are a great option.

Have a good week watching the action, and I’ll see you next week for the next round of selections!
