We are here to cover the 2022 DraftKings showdown slate for Monday Night Football Week 9, Baltimore @New Orleans. The Ravens head down to the bayou to face the Saints in an AFC vs NFC matchup. Vegas expects this to be high scoring with the O/U at 47.5 and Ravens winning by a point. Since these teams rarely play each other I expect a lot of off-script plays for big gains. Also, the additional day to prepare always allows for a better product. I plan to make balanced lineups having 3 New Orleans players and 3 Baltimore players. I will also mainly fill my lineup with skill players since it’s going to be lot of points on the board.
DraftKings MNF Showdown 2022 – Baltimore @New Orleans Captain Picks
Lamar Jackson ($18,600 Capt/ $12,400 Flex)
I see Lamar stepping up in this one and using his legs to get a few points on the board. The Saints have been doing a good job of containing opposing quarterbacks. A couple of weeks ago Joe Burrow scored a 19-yard rushing touchdown on them; I expect Lamar to quadruple that production. He’s a star and belongs in the captain spot no matter the price. Also if you pair him with some of his pass catchers you will benefit from the correlation.
Alvin Kamara ($17,100 Capt/ $11,400 Flex)
The best player on the Saints and the guy most likely to finish with the most touchdowns in this game is back in legal trouble. He is facing felony battery charges in Nevada but is still to good go for this game. Kamara will be the focal point for the Saints as they try to neutralize Lamar Jackson and slowly bleed out the clock. Last week Kamara scored 3 touchdowns and could easily do a repeat against this sorry Ravens rush defense. I also love how he is game script independent. No matter if they are up or if they will down, the Saints will feed Kamara the ball. Lot of my lineups are going to have Kamara in the captain spot.
DraftKings MNF Showdown 2022 – Baltimore @New Orleans Flex Picks
Andy Dalton ($10,200 Flex)
The Saints appear to be happy with their decision to start Dalton. He has done well for them as of late and has been able to move the ball in the air if needed. I like stacking Dalton with Kamara or pairing him with one of his pass catchers like Chris Olave or Juwan Johnson. If Lamar can score quickly and early the tempo of the game will pick up providing many opportunities for the red rifle to score
Chris Olave ($8,600 Flex)
The rookie has been amazing for the Saints and can catch the ball at all levels of the field. He has been playing so well he has put Andy Dalton in the top 10 of many QB statistics this season. Also it was announced Michael Thomas is back on injury reserve. I like Olave a lot this week because he will be peppered with targets.
Kenyan Drake ($7,200 Flex)
It doesn’t look like Gus Edwards is going to suit up so Drake will be the starter. In his game against the Giants where he rushed 10 times, he had 119 yards and a touchdown. If the Ravens line can get the push going and generate some gaps Drake will have a field day.
Devin Duvernay ($6,800 Flex)
I like pairing the speedy receiver up with the Ravens defense. Every game I watch he is super close to taking one all the way to the house. He has also been productive as a WR. Last week he had 4 catches and surprisingly rushed for a touchdown. The team is finding ways to utilize his speed so we must find ways to get him our lineups
Taysom Hill ($6,400 Flex)
You can’t not at least consider Hill on a showdown slate. The thing is, you need to be fully prepared for Hill to either win you the slate, or do nothing for you. The pricing is a little high for a player that is so boom-or-bust, but you should have at least one lineup with him in.
Isaiah Likely ($5,800 Flex)
Mark Andrews out means Likely will likely get all the starter reps. He did well last week filling in for Andrew, finishing the day with 6 catches 77 yards, and 1 touchdown. He will be the focal point in a lot of play-action and red-zone opportunities. With the pricing, he is going to be a popular play, but you really have to have him in your lineup.
Juwan Johnson ($4,400 Flex)
He was targeted 4 times in his last outing and he is projected to score the bare minimum. The Ravens have given up the 15th most fantasy points against TEs. I like Juwan because at some point in the game they will be behind and have to air it out- getting points for cheap.
James Proche II ($3,800 Flex)
This pricing is cheap, as they set it before Mark Andrews and Rashod Bateman were really trending to being out. With the Saints secondary without Lattimore, they are really average and that should mean that Proche is able to convert his target share into production. With Demarcus Robinson potentially missing, there is alot to like about this selection.
Tre’Quan Smith ($3,400 Flex)
Smith isn’t getting alot of the ball, but is on the field constantly. That really must be the reason for this low price on the slate. I’ll have a decent share on him in this one as a cheap upside option.
Adam Trautman ($1,800 Flex)
Juwan Johnson is back so Trautman’s opportunities are slim. If you play him you are relying on him to find the end zone. I think its a strong possibility this could happen since its going to be so high scoring. Also his price allows you to squeeze in the other studs.
DeSean Jackson ($200 Flex)
You don’t really need an uber cheap option on this slate, with injuries really hitting the slate and offering plenty of value, but if you want to have a crazy lineup Jackosn could be an option for you. The stories from camp are positive on his progress and the Ravens don’t have alot of options at receiver. At this price really only needs to catch one long pass to hit value.
DraftKings MNF Showdown 2022 – Baltimore @New Orleans Kickers and DSTs
The kickers are priced up this week Justin Tucker ($4,200) and Will Lutz ($4,000), as they should be since both are averaging 7 plus points a game. I’m going to stick with skill positions in this one since it’s going to be a lot of scoring, which doesn’t always translate to kickers having good games.
The same is true for the defenses- Saints DST ($3,600) and Ravens DST ($4,800). If you want to go super contrarian I would such a build where you go both defenses and kickers and the skill player you think who will score the most in the captain spot.
