DraftKings MNF Showdown 2022 – New Orleans @Tampa Bay

We are here to cover the 2022 DraftKings showdown slate for Monday Night Football Week 13, New Orleans @Tampa Bay. When this game was played earlier in the season it was the battle of the defenses. I’m hoping we see more offensive play in this one. The O/U is set at 41, with Tampa a FG favorite.

DraftKings MNF Showdown 2022 – New Orleans @Tampa Bay Captain Picks

Chris Godwin ($15,900 Capt/ $10,600 Flex)

Since returning in Week 4, this offense has really been giving Godwin every opportunity for success. This defense is just not going to be able to deal with Godwin if he starts getting things moving. With the pricing on this slate, I’m going to be having Godwin as CPT in the majority of lineups.

Tom Brady ($15,600/ $10,400 Flex)

There is a saying for this play. Sometimes it’s better to go for the icing than the cake. If one of these two (or both) click and start getting TDs to go with their yardage totals, then Brady will have had a good game. The ground game is going to be limited by the strength of the Saints defensive line, which should allow plenty of volume for Brady through the air.

Mike Evans ($14,400 Capt/ $9,600 Flex)

Where I’m not going with the floor of Godwin at CPT, I’m going with the upside of Evans. He has the multiple-TD upside that you want for GPPs, but his floor has been eaten at a little with the ability of Godwin in the offense. A nice leverage/ pivot play at CPT.

DraftKings MNF Showdown 2022 – New Orleans @Tampa Bay Flex Picks

Alvin Kamara ($10,000 Flex)

Kamara really hasn’t done anything of note in this offense this season, outside of one or two games. He is just getting squeezed everywhere. Taysom Hill has been getting carries, and the emergence of Chris Olave has been taking targets away. He has the ability to blow up, but the price tag makes him a tough play here. Just needs to do too much to hit value.

Andy Dalton ($9,000 Flex)

There’s something about this Saints team. It looked like it tamed Winston’s turnover-prone play, and seems like its made the normally predictable Dalton unpredictable. He has put up some decent numbers this season too, with some great performances against Arizona and the Rams (two strong defenses). Feels like a low-level flex play on the slate. The Saints are going to need to throw the ball here, it’s all dependent on whether the production follows.

Chris Olave ($8,400 Flex)

Olave is having a great rookie season, and leading the team in targets. It doesn’t really seem to matter all that much who the matchup is either, which is great. Olave has had 3 separate 100+ yard games, so comes with a good ceiling as well as a solid floor with DK’s PPR scoring.

Leonard Fournette/ Rachaad White ($7,400/ $7,000 Flex)

The fact that Fournette is back and looks set to play kind of kills me on both of these players. The Saints defensive line is effective and is going to frustrate this ground game with the struggles Tampa have on their offensive line. With likely limited volume and a split, I’m not overly confident with this play. I’ll have some shares, but that’s more as a GPP play than one you can dependent on.

Taysom Hill ($6,400 Flex)

Hill always needs to be considered when it comes to showdowns, because he can ruin them at times. Crazy thing here is he has an easy-ish route to being on the field with Juwan Johnson set to miss this game through injury. I’ll have some lineups with him as CPT too. Not too many, but at the price you can’t write off his role here.

Julio Jones/ Russell Gage ($5,400/ $4,600 Flex)

The battle of the third receivers. Jones has made some nice plays in the offense but hasn’t really managed to carve out a reliable role in the offense. Has big-game ability, especially with his history against the Saints, but I’m not looking to slot him in too many lineups at all.

Gage looks like he is going to be able to play in this one after practicing all week. Think he is on the field for of this game than Jones. But, I’m not sure if that is going to translate to targets. Of the two I’d rather go for Gage.

Jarvis Landry ($5,200 Flex)

Landry is the WR2 for the Saints but he’s done anything this year after struggling with injuries. This pricetag feels high considering Landry has only double-digit DK scores twice in the season (one time where he caught a TD).

Cameron Brate/ Cade Otton ($3,000/ $1,800 Flex)

Another positional battle for Tampa Bay is the TE battle between Brate and Otton. Otton was getting plenty of play when Brate was out, but has seen his targets dry up recently. Brady seemed like he had a good connection with the rookie, but at the moment looks to prefer Brate. The issue with Brate for me is that he isn’t getting a reliable amount of targets in the offense.

Adam Trautman ($1,200 Flex)

Trautman is looking like he could get a decent run out in the offense in this one with Johnson set to miss the game. Trautman hasn’t done too much this season, as he has had to deal with Johnson being the starter on the offense, but he has shown the receiving ability to do well previously. A nice bit of salary relief that allows you to stack the Tampa top-tier receivers and not kill your lineup.

DraftKings MNF Showdown 2022 – New Orleans @Tampa Bay Kickers and DSTs

This game has two defenses that are both worth some consideration. The Buccaneers DST ($4,800) are a nice play, with their ability to force turnovers and get sacks. Against a weak Saints offense that has struggled this season with both, we could get a repeat performance from their 26 points from earlier in the season. The consideration for the Saints DST ($4,200) is a little bit more forced, but they seem to just have Brady’s number. The ownership will be significantly lower than Buccaneers, but with reason. I don’t know how many shares of both I’ll have ultimately, but I’d prefer the Tampa unit.

Two good defenses matching up against offenses that can move the ball, but can stall out? Yep, kickers are in play. Both Ryan Succop ($4,000) and Wil Lutz ($3,800) have been accurate this season and have the leg to kick from distance. I don’t mind playing either or both on this slate to create savings to spend up elsewhere.
