DraftKings MNF Showdown 2023 – Philadelphia @Seattle

Finishing Week 15 of the 2023 season it’s the DraftKings showdown slate- Philadelphia @Seattle. This game has one big question mark- will Jalen Hurts play? And if he does, which version is going to turn up here. Yes, the Seahawks have a question at QB too, but think it’s far more likely that Lock is the starter here. The O/U here is around 45, with the Eagles favored by around a FG.

DraftKings MNF Showdown 2023 – Philadelphia @Seattle Captain Picks

Jalen Hurts ($17,100 Capt/ $11,400 Flex)

Hurts is on the injury report with illness. If he is a go, then for me, he is a CPT consideration. He runs the ball effectively, gets goal line scores with the Brotherly Shove, and has elite receivers. There isn’t really much to not like for Hurts against this Seattle defense. Just keep an eye on his status for the game.

A.J. Brown ($16,800 Capt/ $11,200 Flex)

Brown is an elite receiver who should be given plenty of opportunity in this one to get after the Seattle secondary. Regardless of who is throwing the ball, he is a great option on the slate. Has a good floor with his target start, with double-digit targets in each of his last two games. His ceiling is high too, with his ability to make big plays, finding the endzone and getting high yardage totals. His ownership is going to be dependent on Hurts’ status- but Mariota isn’t the worst QB that has thrown the ball his way.

DK Metcalf ($14,400 Capt/ $9,600 Flex)

Metcalf is a similar type of receiver to Brown, in that he is a big alpha receiver capable of making plays with his size and speed. The difference is that the Seattle offense really isn’t as high-powered and scoring as the Eagles. With Lock (likely) throwing the ball, he has some CPT viability, but I’m mainly going to be opting with the significant saving to Lockett if I go for a Seahawk.

Tyler Lockett ($9,900 Capt/ $6,600 Flex)

Lockett offers a massive saving on Metcalf, and had a decent outing last week with Lock throwing the ball (catching all 6 of his targets for 89 yards). His salary saving is huge, and allows you to have plenty of studs in your flex if you go with him as your CPT.

DraftKings MNF Showdown 2023 – Philadelphia @Seattle Flex Picks

Geno Smith/ Drew Lock ($9,400/ $9,200 Flex)

I really don’t think that Smith is going to be a go in this one, and Lock will be throwing the ball. He was actually fine last week against a tough 49ers defense on the road. Playing at home, against a secondary that has been beaten up all season, he could have a good game here. He could even have sneaky CPT appeal here.

DeVonta Smith ($9,000 Flex)

Smith is a good receiver, and a great WR2. Has double-digit targets in each of his last two games, for decent box scores. The thing is, unlike Brown, his value comes from deep passes and I don’t know if he would have an immediate connection with Mariota (if he starts).

D’Andre Swift ($8,000 Flex)

The Seahawks have really struggled to stop the run this season, and Swift seems to have nailed the starting RB position for the team. Should see a decent amount of volume, regardless of who is starting here. The issue for DK’s PPR scoring, is that volume is mainly carries. If Hurts is ruled out, then he is likely to see a bump in ownership, but I’m more interested in him if Hurts does play.

Kenneth Walker ($7,800 Flex)

Has had a full week of practice, so is likely to take the RB1 role in the offense and the volume that comes with it. Given how Charbonnet has performed though, I’m not sure if it will be quite the workload that he would normally have had. The weak spot of the Eagles defense is in the air too, so this could be a lean game for Walker. At the price, think he is going to struggle to hit value.

Dallas Goedert ($6,200 Flex)

Goedert returned last week and looked decent enough. Doesn’t have a massive (for fantasy) role in the offense though, but is likely to have more value if Mariota is throwing the ball as a big body in the middle of the field. Feels like a floor play more than anything else though here.

Marcus Mariota ($6,000 Flex)

Mariota will always have a place in my heart after he won me a DFS contest for a decent chunk in the playoffs. That catching his own TD pass was a big play for me- so I kinda hope that he plays here. Hurts has been struggling with an illness, and Mariota is a similar type of player (mobile QB with a decent arm). Priced as a backup QB, so has a fantastic chance of hitting value here. Obviously if Hurts is a go, then he isn’t worth considering.

Jaxon Smith-Njigba ($5,600 Flex)

JSN is the WR3 in this offense, but he is getting a decent number of targets here. Led the team in targets last week, and had double digit targets the week before. With DK’s PPR scoring, this is a great price point for a floor play on the slate. His floor and ceiling is slightly higher, even with Lock throwing the ball, with this matchup.

Kenneth Gainwell ($4,400 Flex)

Gainwell isn’t getting many carries, but he does have involvement in the passing game. With how bad the Seahawks defensive line is at stopping the RB position this season, and his passing game work he has some GPP appeal.

Zach Charbonnet ($4,000 Flex)

There’s no doubt that Charbonnet has been great while Walker has struggled with injury. But, with Walker likely fit now, Charbonnet I think reverts to playing backup. He is tempting at the price, but just think the Seahawks look to air it out instead of running it. GPP roll here.

Dart Throw Plays (Various)

Instead of writing up a line for a few options with their own sections, thought I’d list out a few in one area.

  • Noah Fant/ Colby Parkinson/ Will Dissly (TE, SEA) $3,200 Flex – The TEs for the Seahawks really feel very similar in this game. They aren’t really given the ball all that often with their receiving talent, totalling 70 targets on the season between the three of them. You are really hoping that one of them snatches a RZ TD. If they don’t, then there isn’t much to hope for.
  • Olamide Zaccheaus (WR, PHI) $2,200 Flex – Really not sold on him with this price tag. We could have a situation where Hurts isn’t throwing the ball, and Watkins was on the field more than Zaccheaus was last week.
  • Boston Scott (RB, PHI) $1,800 Flex – This isn’t a game against the Giants, so it’s hard to think he will find the endzone. RB3 for the team, so has a really low floor here with the lack of usage
  • Julio Jones (WR, PHI) $1,200 Flex – Jones has struggled to get on the field with any real consistency, and not getting targets. Can’t see that changing with a QB change here. Watkins (who is cheaper) is at least getting out on the field.
  • Jake Bobo (WR, SEA) $1,000 Flex – Bobo has seen his snap count decrease as JSN has been getting out on the field and being productive. Was really more of a blocking WR anyway, so limited fantasy appeal.
  • Quez Watkins (WR, PHI) $800 Flex – Watkins is really nicely priced here. Getting on the field more than any receiver other than Brown and Smith. The floor is zero, particularly with a potential change of QB, but the price means he really doesn’t need that much to hit value here.

My favorite play from the above is Watkins, by quite a distance. Just so cheap here leaving plenty on the table to use elsewhere.

DraftKings MNF Showdown 2023 – Philadelphia @Seattle Kickers and DSTs

The kickers here don’t feel like they have as much appeal as in other slates. Jake Elliott ($5,000) is a great kicker, but he hasn’t really seen the usage in recent weeks (at least not FG attempts). He could see more attempts here though, if Hurts’ status means more stalled drives. Jason Myers ($4,800) has seen more work this season, as the Seahawks offense has struggled plenty of times this season. Whether he is given the opportunity here though comes down to if the team overall are able to keep pace with the Eagles. If they are, he is a great value. If not, he is going to dud.

The defenses here have some appeal too. The Eagles DST ($4,600) has struggled this season, especially in the secondary. They have talent, especially upfront, but they haven’t really managed to turn that into fantasy production. Things have been that bad, they’ve changed playcallers this week. On the road, it’s a tough ask to see them perform here. The Seahawks DST ($3,400) has some appeal- especially if Mariota is brought into being the starter here. Playing at home, if they force the Eagles to play the game the Seahawks want it could be a good fantasy performance here. Still a GPP play only though.
