DraftKings MNF Showdown 2024 – New York @San Francisco

Ready to dominate the 2024 Week 1 DraftKings SNF Showdown slate of New York @San Francisco? This is set to be an exciting matchup with the San Francisco 49ers taking on the New York Jets, and there are plenty of fantasy points to be found. Whether you’re locking in a star like Christian McCaffrey as your captain or hunting for value plays like Braelon Allen, there’s a lot to consider.

This game has the potential to be a grind-it-out battle, with McCaffrey and Breece Hall leading their respective offenses. Expect Aaron Rodgers and Brock Purdy to lean on their playmakers — Garrett Wilson and Deebo Samuel will be heavily involved in their game plans. The Jets’ defense is coming off a dominant season, ranking first in total yards allowed per play, while the 49ers have bolstered their front seven with the addition of Leonard Floyd, setting up a showdown in the trenches.

DraftKings MNF Showdown 2024 – New York @San Francisco Captain Picks

Christian McCaffrey ($17,400 Capt/ $11,600 Flex)

Christian McCaffrey remains the most valuable fantasy option in the game. When he’s on the field, he’s a must for the captain spot unless you need the salary flexibility, then instead squeeze him into a flex position. Despite dealing with a calf injury, he’s expected to suit up for the season opener, and we all know what that means: massive fantasy potential. McCaffrey’s dual-threat ability as a runner and receiver makes him a high-ceiling play, and even at less than 100%, he’s got the upside to lead all scorers.

Breece Hall ($15,300 Capt/ $10,200 Flex)

Breece Hall is pegged as one of the top fantasy options this season, and some are projecting he could hit a jaw-dropping 2,500 combined yards. Last year, he carried the ball 223 times for 994 yards and 5 touchdowns while adding 76 catches for 591 yards and 4 scores. I love pairing him up with Aaron Rodgers; he should be a frequent target in the passing game, and if the Jets fall behind, Hall’s involvement only grows.

Garrett Wilson ($14,700 Capt/ $9,800 Flex)

Garrett Wilson is an elite playmaker who has already earned high praise from his teammates. If the Jets get behind in this matchup, expect Rodgers to funnel targets his way. Last year, Wilson posted 95 catches for 1,042 yards and 3 touchdowns, finishing 9th in the league with a 27.1% target share and leading in air yard share—all under poor quarterback play. His drive and determination to find the end zone make him a strong captain option.

Deebo Samuel Sr. ($14,400 Capt/ $9,600 Flex)

Deebo Samuel is an elite wide receiver projected to finish the season with 940 receiving yards on 63 catches. Known for his yards after catch and versatility as both a runner and receiver, Samuel will be a focal point of the 49ers’ offense. His ability to break big plays makes him a must-consider pick, especially in lineups where you need upside.

DraftKings MNF Showdown 2024 – New York @San Francisco Flex Picks

Brock Purdy ($9,200 Flex)

Brock Purdy, aka “Mr. Irrelevant,” has quickly established himself as a top young quarterback. In his first full season as a starter, he threw for 4,280 yards and 31 touchdowns. Even though the 49ers had the third-fewest passing attempts in the league, Purdy’s efficiency and elite supporting cast make up for it. He finished as QB6 from Weeks 14-18 last season, making him a solid option if you need to save salary.

Aaron Rodgers ($9,000 Flex)

Aaron Rodgers is an excellent option to round out your lineups, especially if he can connect for a few touchdowns in this game. With plenty of weapons around him this year, Rodgers just needs to stay healthy to deliver value. Pair him with his top receivers to capture those valuable touchdowns.

Brandon Aiyuk($8,400 Flex)

Brandon Aiyuk is a consistent WR option for the 49ers, and last season he averaged 17.9 yards per catch. He should see plenty of opportunities as an integral part of the offense tonight, and his deep-threat ability makes him a sneaky play if you’re looking for some big plays downfield. There have been reports of a reduced workload to start the season though- so bare that in mind.

George Kittle($7,400 Flex)

George Kittle is the definition of boom or bust, which means I’ll have him sparingly in my lineups. He finished last year with 65 receptions, 1,000 receiving yards, and 5 touchdowns. Kittle can win you a week, but he’s just as likely to leave you hanging, so proceed with caution.

Mike Williams($6,600 Flex)

Cleared to play for the opener after undergoing knee surgery for a torn ACL last year, Mike Williams is a risky play. The Jets are expected to manage his snaps carefully, as he’s not yet back to full strength. Keep him in mind if you’re looking for a low-owned dart throw with upside.

Jauan Jennings($4,000 Flex)

Fun fact: Jauan Jennings is still driving his college car, a 2014 Nissan Maxima, and he’s in a contract year, so he’s playing for an upgrade! He battled an ankle injury but returned to practice Saturday. As the WR3 on the team, he could see more opportunities if Aiyuk’s workload is limited.

Tyler Conklin($3,600 Flex)

Conklin is a reliable option over the middle, which is a spot Rodgers likes to exploit. In Rodgers’ last full season, he targeted tight ends 17.7% of the time. Conklin could be a sneaky play if the defense is too focused on the Jets’ primary weapons.

Dart Throw Plays (Various)

Here are a few dart plays to round out your lineup. These are high-risk, high-reward picks best suited for GPPs—not for cash games:

  • Jordan Mason (RB, SF) $3,000 Flex – Mason is the backup running back for the 49ers, with Elijah Mitchell out and McCaffrey nursing a hamstring injury, he could see additional touches. He showed promise in the preseason as the MVP, so don’t sleep on him as a cheap flyer.
  • Braelon Allen (RB, NYJ) $2,800 Flex – Mason is the backup running back for the 49ers, with Elijah Mitchell out and McCaffrey nursing a hamstring injury, he could see additional touches. He showed promise in the preseason as the MVP, so don’t sleep on him as a cheap flyer.
  • Xavier Gipson (WR, NYJ) $2,400 Flex – Undrafted but with plenty of grit, Xavier Gipson earned his spot as the slot receiver. He tallied 21 catches for 229 yards and a touchdown on the field last year, showcasing his speed and elusiveness. He could make a difference in the return game too.
  • Allen Lazard (WR, NYJ) $2,000 Flex – Lazard has chemistry with Rodgers dating back to their Green Bay days, but he’s buried on the depth chart right now. Still, Rodgers considers him a leader in the WR room, and a few targets could come his way.
  • Jeremy Ruckert (TE, NYJ) $1,200 Flex – Second on the depth chart behind Tyler Conklin, Ruckert is expected to take on a bigger role this season. Not much upside, but if you’re looking for a low-cost tight end, he’s worth a shot.
  • Chris Conley (WR, SF) $200 Flex Backup to Deebo Samuel and had a strong preseason, but his value is minimal unless someone ahead of him gets hurt. More of a last-ditch option.

DraftKings MNF Showdown 2024 – New York @San Francisco Kickers and DSTs

Jake Moody ($4,800) is considered an elite kicker and was the first kicker drafted in 2023. He delivered with an 84% conversion rate and led the league in extra points, nailing 60 out of 61. In a game where field goals might be more prevalent than touchdowns, Moody could be a solid play. However, if the 49ers are efficient in the red zone, his opportunities could be limited. Greg Zuerlein ($4,400), aka “Greg the Leg,” is coming off a strong season and could be a viable option if you’re projecting a lower-scoring game. Zuerlein remains a reliable kicker, but his upside depends heavily on how often the Jets stall in 49ers territory. He’s worth considering if you think this matchup turns into a defensive battle.

49ers DST ($5,200) has a new defensive coordinator in Nick Sorensen, and they are looking to bring the heat with Leonard Floyd joining the front seven. With key secondary players returning from injury, the 49ers could create some chaos for Aaron Rodgers. If you believe the Niners can get to Rodgers and force mistakes, this defense is worth a look. However, keep in mind the Jets’ offense has the potential to explode with Rodgers under center. Jets DST ($3,200) was the most stingy defense in the league last year, allowing the fewest yards per play and finishing third in total yards allowed per game. They’re aiming to build on that dominance this season, and if you believe they can put the clamps on the 49ers’ offense, they’re a bargain at this price. However, the 49ers’ playmakers like McCaffrey and Deebo could make this a risky play if they break loose.
