DraftKings Showdown: Tampa Bay @New Orleans Captain Picks:

Tom Brady ($16,500 Capt/ $11,000 Flex)

Brady finished his first season with one of his best seasons of his career, with over 4,633 yards and 40 TDs. Certainly, the team and offense are happy to pin their hopes on his arm for success. Given the weapons that Brady has, he is almost matchup proof and already had success in the previous games against New Orleans this season.

Drew Brees ($14,700 Capt/ $9,800 Flex)

The Saints are a tough team to understand. You know that Alvin Kamara and Michael Thomas are going to get targets but then outside of that it’s hard to predict who is going to get the ball. More importantly, it’s hard to know who is going to get the looks in the red zone. But, you can avoid that guessing game by selecting Brees in your lineup. Sure, you might get frustrated if Taysom Hill steps in for Brees, but New Orleans should see plenty of passing volume.

EDIT: Hill has now been ruled out of the game. That makes Brees an even more viable play as Brees will be used in the red zone

Chris Godwin ($12,300 Capt/ $8,200 Flex)

One of Brady’s weapons is Godwin, he has been electric on offense in the past few week, scoring 5 TDs in his past four outings. Aside from the touchdowns, he has seen a healthy target share- perfect for DK’s scoring.

DraftKings Showdown: Tampa Bay @New Orleans Flex:

Antonio Brown ($7,800 Flex)

Probably the best third-receiver in the league, Brown has established himself as an important part of the offense. As with Godwin, mentioned above, he has scored 5 TDs in four games. The reason why he is more of a flex play rather than a captain nomination is that he has been very up and down in targets, with just three against Washington last time out.

Emmanuel Sanders ($5,800 Flex)

This slate is full of top-heavy options, meaning you are going to be forced to find some cheap value plays. Sanders has been an effective secondary receiver out wide. Last week he only had three targets but had 23 targets from the three games previous. Sanders isn’t a home-run hit, but a solid option to save some salary

New Orleans Saints DST ($4,200 Flex)

New Orleans defense has been a solid unit this season, and in fact, is one of the reasons they made the playoffs. Equally, Brady might be having a good season with his arm, but he is still not able to avoid pressure when it comes. That has been exactly what New Orleans has brought in their games against Tampa. In each of the matchups this season Brady has been sacked 3 times and threw two INTs in the season opener. In this slate, they could provide a cheap option.

Wil Lutz ($3,600 Flex)

This game will be played in New Orleans, meaning the game will in a dome. Lutz has been accurate all season. New Orleans have looked to him to help them out of holes this season when their offense has stalled, which could happen against the Tampa Bay defense.

Tre’Quan Smith ($400 Flex)

Smith is cheap. Really cheap. That is fine, because he was only that cheap because he was on injured reserve. However, he has now been activated and eligible to play this week. At the price point you don’t need much at all for him to hit value. If he catches just a handful of passes, he will be well on the way to getting you success this week.
