DraftKings Showdown 2021 Buffalo @Kansas City

We are here to cover the DraftKings Showdown slates for the 2021 season, continuing with Buffalo @Kansas City. It’s a rematch of the AFC Championship game and the Bills look ready to get their first win against their conference rivals. They are coming off an impressive blowout win against Houston while Kansas City finally got their ducks in a row with a win against Philadelphia. Vegas has listed this game as a shootout with the O/U at 57 and a spread of -3 with the Chiefs winning. I feel like we were in a similar spot when the Chiefs faced Baltimore earlier this season. I’m not going to make the same mistake a pick the hot Bills team to win this one. As a result, we are going to stuff our lineups with 4-5 Bills players to maximize our point total and take advantage of correlation. With that let’s take a look at the picks.

DraftKings Showdown- Buffalo @Kansas City Captain Picks

Josh Allen ($18,600 Capt/ $12,400 Flex)

On a fast track, Allen is set to recreate last year’s numbers. The Bills should run the ball to keep the Chiefs sidelined but historically the Bills do not do that. They keep the ball in their MVP hands and allow him to make plays even when they have a tremendous lead. Pro Football Focus (PFF) ranks Allen as third in “turnover worthy” plays this season. This could be due to him having the ball longer than he should but he seems to make it up for with a lot of big-time plays. He ranks fourth in “big-time throws” by PFF which bodes well for a captain candidate. Know that Allen is a guaranteed lock at captain but has the ceiling to be worth every shot you take. He spreads the ball around pretty well and the team relies on him a lot to move the ball up the field no matter the situation they are in.

Travis Kelce ($13,800 Capt/ $9,200 Flex)

Tyreek Hill will have his work cut out for him when he lines up against the best corner in the league, Tre’Davious White. Mahomes will need someone else to rely on this game if the Chiefs plan to win this game. Travis Kelce has a 75% plus catch rate and gains 12.2 yards per catch. He is super reliable, has an uncanny way of breaking down zone defenses and finding the soft spots. Even though the I think the Bills win this one, the Chiefs will put up a fight. Kelce should be gobbling up the targets and potential touchdowns to keep them in this one.

DraftKings Showdown- Buffalo@Kansas City Flex

Zach Moss ($6,600 Flex)

He’s been splitting carries with Devin Singletary and taking over lead back duties when Buffalo has solidified a lead. Zach Moss has looked good with all the opportunities he has been granted. Many people argue that this production will not continue as the Bills go into more competitive games such as this one. The issue with that argument is Singletary has been turnover-prone. He already has four fumbles this season and all it takes is one key turnover to lose the game. Singletary is also ranked by PFF as one of the worst starters at his position. I can see the Bills handing the keys over to the rookie as he looked good in the three games he’s played.

Patrick Mahomes ($12,000 Flex)

Mahomes leads the league in passing touchdowns and has been on fire to start the season. He also leads the AFC with 119.6 passer rating. I have a feeling the Bills will win this one, so hero Mahomes will be needed to win this game. I’m avoiding the Chiefs run game altogether but could see the Kansas City backs getting involved in the passing game plan. If you put Mahomes in your lineup then it would make sense to stack him with Kelce or one of the secondary options. This one should be high scoring so you want to absorb as many points from both teams.

Stefon Diggs ($8,800 Flex)

Diggs has shown us he is unguardable- whether it’s a double team, triple-team he always finds a way to come down with the ball. In his last outing, he had 7 catches out of 11 targets, 114 receiving yards, and didn’t even play the fourth quarter! He has only caught 1 passing touchdown this season and I expect that to change in today’s game. Pair him with Allen + Bass you have the making of a tournament-winning lineup.

Tyler Bass ($4,200 Flex)

Tyler Bass has been on a scoring spree. I almost landed him in a trade in my season-long league and was pretty bummed when my friend backed out at the last minute. This will be a high-scoring game so Bass will be involved in all parts of the game. Averaging 11.5 DraftKings points (more than Devin Singletary) and a low price tag he will be in the majority of my lineups.

Gabriel Davis ($1,000 Flex)

To fit in all these high-producing players we need some cheap plays. Gabriel Davis has been riddled with injuries but looks healthy. He has been overshadowed by the newcomer Emmanuel Sanders. Kansas City may put attention on Diggs, Beasley, and Sanders so Davis could potentially outperform his salary. Also, he is touting an impressive 21.5 yards per catch. I am willing to take a shot on him
