DraftKings Showdown 2021- Buffalo @Tennessee

Following a 38-20 dismantling of the Chiefs in Kansas City, the Bills hit the road once more, heading to Nashville to take on Ryan Tannehill and the Titans. Tennessee sits atop the AFC South and enter this one off the back of a 37-19 victory over Jacksonville, led by yet another monster Derrick Henry performance. Buffalo are 6-point favourites, with an O/U of 54.

DraftKings Showdown 2021- Buffalo @Tennessee Captain Picks

Josh Allen ($19,200)

Allen has been incredible through five games and should continue that streak tonight. Opposing QBs have ripped this Tennessee side to pieces so far, averaging 279 yards through the air per game, with Murray, Russell and Zach Wilson, and Trevor Lawrence the beneficiaries of this awful secondary. Allen is a prime candidate for MVP if he keeps up his early-season form, and his 12-2 TD: INT ratio certainly backs this up. He’s also averaging 37.6 yards on the ground, to go with two TDs. He should be the highest scoring player on this slate, and is a prime candidate for a captain, especially in cash games.

Stefon Diggs ($14,400)

Diggs has had a quiet start to the year and is due to a breakout game any time soon. I’m confident it should be tonight versus this porous defence. The Titans are surrendering 8.4 yards per passing attempt, third-worst in the league, and their pass-rush has been almost non-existent, registering just 10 sacks and 25 QB hits through 5 games. Allen should have plenty of time in the pocket and should find his favourite receiver on a regular basis.

Julio Jones ($9,900)

With AJ Brown drawing a late questionable tag due to illness, Jones’ price is great for his potential production. He hasn’t been able to replicate his talents from Atlanta just yet, with injuries hampering his first months in a Titans jersey. If Brown misses this one, Jones could have a solid game. Whilst this Bills defence is currently ranked first in team DVOA on defence, the volume should be there for Jones in what could be a pass-heavy Titans offence if they fall behind. If Brown does play, I still like Jones at this price, but he certainly gets bumped down a notch.

DraftKings Showdown 2021- Buffalo @Tennessee Flex Picks

Derrick Henry ($11,400)

He obviously comes in with a monster price tag, but Henry certainly has the upside to pay it off. He’s hit the 100-yard rushing mark in 4 straight games and looks to be far more involved in the passing game this year too, seeing 15 targets so far – good for 14 catches and 125 yards. Because of this, I think the notion that Henry can’t have a good game when the Titans are trailing simply doesn’t hold true anymore. This Bills defence certainly poses a stern test, as they are yet to surrender a rushing TD to an opposing RB. He’s not a lock like he frequently is, but the ceiling is always high. His red-zone usage is monstrous, with 22 carries and 1 target, good for a 48% team share.

Ryan Tannehill ($9,800)

I think one of Tannehill’s attributes that often gets overlooked is his rushing ability. He certainly has the ability to find the end zone with his legs, and whilst this Bills defence is elite, Mahomes was able to run for 61 yards last week. Granted, Tannehill isn’t quite at Mahomes’ level, but I think it shows vulnerabilities in this defence. Prior to last week, the Bills had faced Big Ben, Brissett, Heinicke and Davis Mills. I’m struggling to see much quality in those names. Tannehill could surprise some people tonight.

Dawson Knox ($7,600)

Only Diggs has seen more targets in the red zone on this Bills offence than the TE. Again, don’t be fooled by Tennessee’s supposedly solid numbers versus opposing TEs. Demetrius Harris, Gerald Everett, Mo Alie-Cox and Ryan Griffin headline the opposing TEs this Titan’s defence has faced this year. Last week Dan Arnold put up 64 yards, more than doubling the total yardage given up to opposing TEs through the first 4 games. Jacob Hollister also got a 1-yard TD grab. I think Knox’s TD streak has to end soon, but I don’t think it’s tonight.

Cole Beasley ($5,400)

Whilst he’s at a higher risk of catching COVID-19, it seems Beasley has struggled to catch many passes (sorry) so far this year. He’s had back-to-back games with just a pair of targets and has seen his price crash. However, in Buffalo’s pass-heavy offence, the potential for a big game is never far away. We saw that in Week 3, where he went 11-98 against the WFT.

Nick Westbrook-Ikhine ($1,200)

This really comes down to injury news. AJ Brown and Chester Rodgers are currently questionable heading into Monday evening. If Brown plays, I think Westbrook-Ikhine is possibly worth a shot, but if both miss, he could be an absolute smash play. If they end up playing this one from behind, someone has to catch those passes right?

Reggie Gilliam ($200)

My super-crazy TD dependent dart throw in this one is the Bills FB/TE Gilliam. He’s listed as an RB on DraftKings, but I’m 99% sure he spent last year as a TE or a FB on the depth chart. He’s actually seen a target and 2 red zone rushing attempts so far this year. Admittedly, those both came in blowout victories, but it’s always nice to have a complete shot in the dark play sometimes.

DraftKings Showdown 2021- Buffalo @Tennessee Defences and Kickers

Buffalo is probably the only viable defence in play tonight. They’re tied-2nd in the league with 9 INTs so far, and 9th with 14 sacks. Whilst this projects to be a high scoring game, this Bills side have the capabilities to create multiple turnovers. Both kickers are certainly in play and are both crazy cheap in this one. Bullock would probably be my preferred choice, in the hope that Tennessee struggle in the red zone.
