We are here to cover the DraftKings Showdown slates for the 2021 season, continuing with Green Bay @San Francisco. The Packers had a rough start to the season and were blown out by New Orleans. It was a shock to the sports world, but they found a way to bounce back and had a decisive victory over Detroit. San Francisco on the other hand has looked outstanding in their first two games. However, the injury bug has taken over their RB room and they only have two viable running backs. Vegas has the O/U at 50.5 points and San Francisco winning by a field goal. Expect a shootout, Rodgers and gang to pass a lot and if/when San Francisco gets a lead expect them to run the ball. With that, let’s build some lineups.

DraftKings Showdown- Green Bay @San Francisco Captain Picks
Davante Adams ($17,100 Capt/ 11,400 Flex)
At the beginning of the season, there were talks on Marquez Valdes-Scantling getting more involved in the offense. Although he has seen more targets, he hasn’t capitalized on any of his opportunities. In a shootout, Davante Adams is my guy. Green Bay has a funnel offense and the reigning MVP loves throwing to Adams. In his last outing, he had 8 catches for 121 yards, while Robert Tonyan and Aaron Jones gobbled up all the touchdowns. The second closest wide receiver on the team had 3 catches for 26 yards. Adams is my guy in captain today and I’m willing to pay any price tag to play him in a shootout.
Deebo Samuel ($14,100 Capt/ $9,400 Flex)
Deebo Samuel, third in the league in receiving yards, has emerged as the team’s number one passing option. If this game goes as predicted, expect to see a lot of action out of him. Jaire Alexander is a problem for any wideout facing him from week to week. However, Samuel primarily lines up in the slot position so no need to worry about his lockdown coverage. Deebo was outstanding last week against Philadelphia and should see more looks today especially now that San Francisco’s RB position has been depleted.
DraftKings Showdown- Green Bay @San Francisco Flex
Trey Sermon ($3,000 Flex)
Trey Sermon has passed concussion protocols and is cleared to play today. He will be featured a lot since most of the running backs on the team are injured and the ones that are healthy weren’t on an NFL team last week. It’s no secret the 49ers like to run the ball and with a lead, we can almost guarantee they will. His 3k price tag is an added bonus and gives us enough salary to fit in the Green Bay studs.
Aaron Rodgers ($11,800 Flex)
The reigning MVP looked disinterested in the first game of the season. Not happy with his team’s performance he was able to motivate the group to come out strong against the Lions. In a shoot out Rodgers is always in play, he can generate points with his arms and legs. There are enough cheap options in this game you can pair him up with Tonyan, Adams, or Jones. You can even jam in all 4 and throw in a couple of cheap San Francisco players.
Aaron Jones ($11,200 Flex)
What a game Jones had against Detroit! 4 total touchdowns and walked away with 41.5 Draftkings points! Can we have a moment of silence for my lineups(Aaron Jones was featured in none). Today I’m not making the same mistake and loading him up every chance I get. In terms of the run offense, it’s all going to come down to how well the Packers’ Tackles can handle Nick Bosa. Bosa is a problem, but Jones can contribute in other ways. As we saw last week, Jones is an integral part of the passing offense. He had 6 catches on 6 targets and was third on the team in receiving yards behind Adams and Tonyan.
Kyle Juszczyk ($800 Flex)
Kyle Juszczyk is a salary saver and large GPP play. If you decide to fit in all the studs you are going to need to save elsewhere. Two things he has going for him are 1. San Francisco is expected to win and 2. San Francisco doesn’t have many running options. With game script in his favors and a chance at more opportunities, Juszczyk could shape up to be a tournament-winning play.
Robert Tonyan ($6,800 Flex)
Rodgers’s safety blanket had 11 touchdown receptions last year and is on pace to do the same this season. Nick Bosa is going to bring a ton of pressure to the Packer O-line so I expect a bunch of dump-offs to Tonyan and Jones. Robert performed last week against a mediocre defense so that should give him some confidence on the road playing against a great defense. He’s a little overpriced but if he gets a few catches, couple of touchdowns, and at least 50 yards it will be well worth it.
Robbie Gould and Mason Crosby ($4,000 and $3,800 Flex)
Robbie Gould in an interview this morning said “[he expects] it to be really loud…[and] a hard place for Green Bay to play in.” Although the noise may pose an issue for the kickers they will be relied on heavily. Both teams have good defenses and I expect many drives to come up short. Pick your poison and don’t fret, Gould or Crosby make great lineup fillers at a cheap price.
