Continuing our DraftKings Showdown coverage of the 2021 season, we look at the Jacksonville @Cincinnati matchup. The matchup is an interesting affair at QB, was we have the past two seasons number 1 picks facing off against each other. The Bengals are currently the favorite for the game by over a TD, and the points total is set at 46.5, so the expectation is for a reasonable scoring game.

DraftKings Showdown 2021- Jacksonville @Cincinnati Captain Picks
Joe Mixon ($16,500/$11,000)
Mixon is a player that has long confused fantasy owners as to if they should trust him or not in their lineups. He falls into the category of being a boom or bust, even with a healthy amount of volume. Jacksonville are a mess on defense. On the ground and through the air. Mixon is the main threat out of the backfield, heavily used in the redzone. With his involvement in the passing game too, Mixon is a prime candidate for the captain spot.
Joe Burrow ($17,400/$11,600)
Burrow is another player to consider for your captain spot. The Jaguars aren’t likely to put up too much of a fight, but if they do, or Mixon isn’t able to get going, the Bengals have enough weapons to damage Jacksonville through the air. The team have a mix of weapons, so to avoid choosing the wrong one you could opt to go with their QB. Burrow has thrown for 640 yards, 7 TDs and 4 INTs so far this season. We haven’t seen him flash his leg ability yet, but this could be the game he reminds us.
Ja’Marr Chase ($15,300/$10,200)
If you did want to opt for a receiver, then it has to be Chase. The rookie has looked good since he has taken on the leading receiving role for the Bengals. He is Burrow’s first read, due to the familiarity that they have with one another. Chase has socred at least one TD in each of the games that he has played in so far. Jacksonville may look to try and cover Chase with Shaquill Griffin, but the secondary has struggled to make many stops this season.
DraftKings Showdown 2021- Jacksonville @Cincinnati Flex Picks
Marvin Jones ($8,600)
Jones is the leading receiver for the Jaguars, leading the team in targets, receptions and yards. The veteran stepped into this offense and has truly stamped his mark on the team. That can be seen in Jones’ involvement in the redzone where Jones has dominated the team opportunities. With the way this game is going to go, Jones seems the logical selection for Jacksonville while you are stacking up on Bengals.
DJ Chark ($7,200)
Chark is a slightly cheaper option at receiver and has roughly the same share of targets as Jones. The issue is that Chark has been less efficient with his opportunities than Jones. The way the team have distributed the targets, it’s likely to be Chark if it isn’t Jones leading that statistic at the end of the game, but all being equal I’d prefer Jones.
C.J. Uzomah ($4,000)
Uzomah is a cheaper option if you want exposure to the Bengals offense. He hasn’t been used too much so far this season, only having five targets for the season. But, Uzomah has the occasion vulture TD game. Against Jacksonville, he has an opportunity to do that this week.
Auden Tate ($400)
This is a risky play and is only in play with Tee Higgins out. In a GPP, Tate could be the type of player that helps you win. The price is fantastic and allows you to spend up elsewhere. He might have limited looks, but with his frame, he might be given an opportunity in the redzone, which would give him great value.
Defences and Kickers
The Bengals defense ($5,600) are the defense you want to consider if you want to go that way, with Trevor Lawrence struggling at the start of his rookie career. The Bengals themselves have gotten after the QB consistently this season, with 10 sacks. On top of that they have managed to force some turnovers, something that they could add to against the Jaguars. There’s no way I’d be looking to play Jacksonville’s unit ($3,000) with the struggles that they have had on defense. The Jaguars don’t have a slated kicker (as in they aren’t on the slate) for this game, while Evan McPherson ($3,800) may be limited to PATs only.
