We are here to cover the DraftKings Showdown slates for the 2021 season, continuing with Kansas City @Baltimore. This one is shaping to up to be a new league rivalry. These two teams have faced off against each other four times in the past four years and the last time they played it was high scoring. Vegas has the total at 53.5 and Kansas City winning with a spread of -3. This game looks to be a rough one for Baltimore as they are missing many key players to injuries. The goal today is to stack as many Kansas City players and fill in the rest with Baltimore pass catchers.

DraftKings Showdown- Kansas City @Baltimore Captain Picks
Patrick Mahomes ($18,900 Capt/ 12,600 Flex)
The Baltimore Ravens in their last game allowed 435 passing yards to Derek Carr. This should bode well for Patrick Mahomes in this game. Last week he completed 75% of his passes and exploded for 337 yards and three touchdowns. He always finds a way to get the ball to Travis Kelce or Tyreek Hill and I expect him to tear up the Ravens’ secondary.
Tyreek Hill ($15,900 Capt/ $10,600 Flex)
Marcus Peters, one of the most expensive players in the Ravens organization, is out with a torn ACL. Jimmy Smith and Marlon Humphrey are unavailable to play this week. Chris Westry also hasn’t attended the last few practices, just solidifying the icing on the cake. What does this mean- no one on the Ravens’ secondary can guard Hill. He tore it up last week with 11 catches, a touchdown, and just under 200 receiving yards! The ceiling is the moon for him and I will have him every single lineup.
DraftKings Showdown- Chicago @Los Angeles Flex
Travis Kelce ($10,400 Flex)
The former quarterback has a knack for finding the holes in the zone. As mentioned earlier the Ravens’ secondary is non-existent and will be playing against mediocre players. Last week he had six catches on seven targets while finishing the day with 76 yards and two touchdowns. He plays a critical role in close games and if the Ravens can find ways to get in the end zone we can expect a lot of action from Kelce. I plan to stack him with Mahomes and Hill in a majority of my lineups.
Clyde Edwards-Helaire ($9,000 Flex)
He wasn’t much of a factor last week but if this game blows out it will be the Edwards-Helaire show. He is number one back on this team which was apparent with Darrell Williams one rushing attempt against the Browns. The Browns were able to contain Clyde to only 43 yards on 14 rushing attempts and the game script didn’t favor him. I like taking my chances on him especially with the blowout risk on the horizon.
Lamar Jackson ($11,800 Flex)
The Ravens defense is banged up so the Chiefs will inevitably score a lot of points. Lamar is going to have to channel the superstar in him to keep this game close. His strong arm and speed are always a factor so he shapes up to be a great play. He is super expensive, especially for a player on a team expected to lose. The Chiefs gave up 457 all-purpose yards to the Browns last week and I doubt they’ll make any adjustments to prevent this from happening again. Historically they have been known to let teams move the ball up the field because they can always reciprocate with a touchdown. Jackson could earn 100 yards rushing on the ground and make the high price tag worth every penny.
Ty’Son Williams ($6,800 Flex)
Last week we saw Williams emerge as the team’s lead back. This was expected as a bunch of newcomers joined the team days before game day. It’s going to take some time for Latavius Murray and Devonta Freeman to learn the playbook so expect Williams to shoulder most of the running duties in this one. In the game against the Raiders, he had 9 rushes for 65 yards and a touchdown. He also walked away with three catches for 29 yards. I expect these numbers to be higher in this game, especially as he gets more comfortable with the speed of the game at the pro level.
James Proche and Tylan Wallace ($200 and $200 Flex)
Both Marquise Brown and Devin Duvernay are questionable. If one of these guys aren’t available Proche and Wallace will be relied on to move the ball in the air to keep it up with the Chiefs’ high octane offense. Wallace and Proche weren’t given any opportunities in the game against the Raiders. This shouldn’t discourage anyone from playing them. Last week the main core of receivers were healthy.
Justin Tucker and Harrison Butker ($3,600 and $3,800 Flex)
This is going to be a high-scoring game and it could come to a last-minute 50-yard kick to seal the deal. With plenty of opportunities for them to shine, both kickers are in play. One of these guys will be critical for your lineup as we need to find cheap plays.
