We are here to cover the DraftKings Showdown slates for the 2021 season, continuing with Tennessee @Los Angeles. The Titans are in a rough shape- their star player Derrick Henry is sidelined for the rest of the season with a foot injury and the Titans have to play against one of the best defenses in the league that just added Von Miller, a future hall of fame linebacker. Stafford has been outstanding with his new team and has developed incredible chemistry with Cooper Kupp . Also their run game has been spectacular with third year back Darrell Henderson. This one is shaping out to be an easy win by the Rams. Right now Vegas has the O/U at 52.5 with a spread of Rams winning by 7.5 points. The odds lead me to go heavy Rams, and since the Rams’ defense is good I want Tennessee’s pass catching backs and secondary receiving options.
DraftKings Showdown- Tennessee @Los Angeles Captain Picks
Darrell Henderson Jr. ($13,800 Capt/ $9,200 Flex)
In his last game he caught one pass for a touchdown and rushed for 90 yards and another touchdown. The third year back is making a name for himself becoming a reliable runner for the Rams. He is averaging 17.5 fantasy points per game due to his high volume ( 15.7 rushing attempts and 3.4 targets per game). I like him a lot today and think he will thrive against the Titan’s defense. Also throw in the fact this will be a blow out and the Rams will most likely try to run the clock out, I like Henderson even more. I think his price is very reasonable and can help us win a big tourney as he will be lower owned compared to Kupp and Stafford.
Cooper Kupp ($18,600 Capt/ $12,400 Flex)
Well if Henderson doesn’t eat like its Thanksgiving dinner in this one its most likely cause Kupp’s keeps getting the opportunities. Stafford likes to throw the ball even when they have an insurmountable lead so I can see Kupp exceed value even though he is the most expensive player on this showdown slate. Kupp is averaging 28.7 fantasy points and 11.2 targets per game. He is Stafford’s favorite target and they have developed great chemistry which is why Vegas has this game high scoring and favored for the Rams.
DraftKings Showdown- Tennessee @Los Angeles Flex
Matthew Stafford ($8,600 Flex)
Everyone is raving about Stafford’s greatness. Eric Dickerson came out said that Stafford is “the guy now that can get in a position to make it successful. Not all the time, but he doesn’t need me to basically hold his hand”. He is averaging 35 passing attempts and over 300 passing yards per game. He is the most likely the reason the Rams gain a large lead. Lock him at 8.6K and expect him to exceed value.
Rams DST ($4,800 Flex)
The Rams defense is one of the best in the league. I see them producing turnovers in this game as the Titans have to find a new identity. Also the Titans will be forced to throw the ball a lot playing from behind. At this price point and the amount of potential points they will score makes Rams defense a great pick for all types of lineups.
Jeremy McNichols ($7,800 Flex)
Derrick’s injury really hurt the Titans chances of making it far in the playoffs. Everyone knows how much he means to this team and now they will have a committee to fill his role. The Titans will most likely be playing from behind so they will need someone with hands to help push the ball up field. The Titans will need the secondary pass catchers to step up to keep up with the high octane Rams offense. This will lead to more passing opportunities for back up Jeremy McNichols. Tannehill is no slouch and he will either get the ball to him or his TEs. Even though his price is kind of high I like the volume he should see in this game, which should exceed the amount of opportunities Adrian Peterson gets.
A. J. Brown ($10,200 Flex)
AJ Brown is a nightmare for any defense that has to face him. Now that he has been ruled active, the Rams defense will have their hands full trying to contain him. He is averaging 8.5 targets a game and at least 12 yards a catch. Even though he is super expensive he is well worth the price.
MyCole Pruitt ($1,200 Flex)
The Rams will most likely focus their attention on Brown and Jones leaving opportunities for other pass catchers. Pruitt has been involved in the passing game the pass couple of weeks. He’s averaging 2.5 targets per game and I see that going up in this game. A lot of the players you want in your lineup are expensive so you will have to find someone who is cheap. Pruitt fits that build and is a good pick with the game script where the Titans are playing from behind.
