DraftKings SMF Showdown 2024 – New York @Minnesota

Here we have the next DraftKings Showdown slate of the 2024 season- New York @Minnesota. This week, we’re kicking things off bright and early with an exciting international matchup between the New York Jets and the Minnesota Vikings in London. With star power on both sides of the ball and plenty of fantasy points to be had, this game promises to offer some intriguing options for DFS players.

Both teams bring dynamic offenses into the game, led by Justin Jefferson and Breece Hall, but don’t overlook the defenses either. The Jets’ defense remains one of the stingiest in the league, while the Vikings’ pass rush is primed to pressure Aaron Rodgers. Whether you’re locking in a top-tier captain like Jefferson or looking for value plays like Ty Chandler or Braelon Allen, this slate offers plenty of paths to victory.

DraftKings SMF Showdown 2024 – New York @Minnesota Captain Picks

Justin Jefferson ($17,400 Capt/ $11,600 Flex)

Justin Jefferson continues to be a dominant force, securing six of eight targets for 85 yards and a touchdown in last week’s win over the Packers. He’s now scored in every game this season and has been the focal point of the Vikings’ passing attack with back-to-back eight-target games. Jefferson’s ability to make plays at all levels of the field keeps his ceiling sky-high, and he’ll look to keep that momentum going in Week 5 against the Jets. Despite the tough matchup, his talent and target volume make him an elite captain play, especially with the Vikings relying heavily on him to move the chains. Even at a high price, Jefferson’s consistency and upside make him hard to fade in this London showdown.

Breece Hall ($14,100 Capt/ $9,400 Flex)

Breece Hall has struggled in recent weeks, managing just 10 carries for 4 yards and 2 catches for 14 yards in the Jets’ loss to the Broncos. It’s been a frustrating start to the season for Hall, who’s averaging just 3.1 yards per carry through four games, and he was notably outplayed by backup Braelon Allen last week. Still, Hall’s dual-threat ability makes him an intriguing captain option if you believe the Jets can get their offense back on track against the Vikings. He’s been getting the touches near the goal line, and if he can find the end zone, Hall has the potential to deliver a high return at captain. If you’re banking on a bounce-back performance, Hall could be a contrarian play with big upside.

Jordan Addison ($10,800 Capt/ $8,600 Flex)

Jordan Addison made an instant impact in his return from injury last week, catching 3 of 4 targets for 72 yards and a touchdown while also rushing for a score. The second-year receiver wasted no time reminding the Vikings of his playmaking ability, finding the end zone twice against the Packers. With Addison back to full health, he becomes a high-upside option, especially in a game where the Jets may focus their defensive attention on Justin Jefferson. If you’re looking for a more affordable captain option with big play potential, Addison fits the bill. His versatility as both a receiver and rusher makes him a sneaky pick to deliver in this international clash.

Aaron Jones ($13,800 Capt/ $7,200 Flex)

Aaron Jones has been a workhorse for the Vikings since joining the team, rushing 22 times for 93 yards and adding 46 yards on 4 receptions in last week’s win over Green Bay. He’s averaging over 90 rushing yards in three of his first four games and has been heavily involved in the passing game, making him a high-floor option in both captain and flex spots. While he hasn’t found the end zone since Week 1, Jones continues to be a focal point of the offense and will have plenty of opportunities to break that drought against the Jets. In a game that could lean on the running backs, Jones offers both consistency and upside, making him a solid captain choice. With his volume and versatility, Jones is a great play in any lineup.

DraftKings SMF Showdown 2024 – New York @Minnesota Flex Picks

Sam Darnold ($9,800 Flex)

Sam Darnold had a solid performance last week, completing 20 of 28 passes for 275 yards, three touchdowns, and one interception while adding seven carries for 15 yards. He led the Vikings to a dominant first-half lead, with two touchdown passes to Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison. However, Darnold made some costly mistakes in the second half, including a fumble and an interception that allowed the Packers to claw back. Despite the miscues, Darnold’s yardage total was a season-high, and he’ll look to build on that in Week 5 against the Jets in London.

Aaron Rodgers ($9,000 Flex)

Aaron Rodgers shook off a knee injury scare and is set to start in Week 5 against the Vikings after returning to full practice. Rodgers didn’t miss any snaps in last week’s loss to Denver, but his chemistry with the Jets’ receivers has been inconsistent. With a tough Vikings defense on deck, Rodgers will need to rely on his top targets to make plays, but he always has the potential for a multi-touchdown game. He’s a solid flex option if you’re looking for a reliable quarterback to anchor your lineup in a game that could go either way.

Garrett Wilson ($8,600 Flex)

Garrett Wilson struggled last week, catching five of eight targets for 41 yards while losing a fumble in a frustrating loss to the Broncos. Wilson’s connection with Rodgers has been shaky at times, and tight coverage from the Broncos limited his effectiveness. Despite the underwhelming stat lines, Wilson remains the Jets’ top receiving option, and if the Jets can find their rhythm in London, he could bounce back. He’s a riskier flex play given his recent form, but the upside is there for a big game if the Jets get their passing attack going.

Allen Lazard ($6,600 Flex)

Allen Lazard caught five of eight targets for 58 yards against the Broncos, tying for the team lead in targets alongside Garrett Wilson and Tyler Conklin. Lazard made some key plays, including drawing a pass-interference penalty in the end zone, but he also committed an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty in the third quarter. He’s been a steady presence in the Jets’ offense and remains one of Rodgers’ trusted targets, especially in critical moments. Lazard’s consistency makes him a reliable flex option, though his ceiling may be capped if the Jets struggle to move the ball.

Mike Williams ($6,200 Flex)

Mike Williams continues to gain momentum in the Jets’ offense, catching four of five targets for 67 yards in last week’s loss to the Broncos. He led the team in receiving yards and made several key catches, including a 21-yard toe-tap along the sideline. Williams has increased his production each week and looks to be getting back to form after last year’s ACL tear. Heading into the London game, Williams offers good value in the flex spot as one of the few Jets players with recent positive momentum.

Braelon Allen ($5,400 Flex)

Braelon Allen was more efficient than Breece Hall last week, rushing eight times for 34 yards and catching his only target for 12 yards. The rookie’s strong performance has prompted Jets’ coaches to consider giving him more goal-line carries after Hall was stuffed twice at the one-yard line. With Allen averaging 4.8 yards per carry compared to Hall’s 3.1, he could see an increased workload in London, especially in short-yardage situations. If you’re looking for a value flex play with potential touchdown upside, Allen is a solid option.

Jalen Nailor ($5,200 Flex)

Jalen Nailor caught one of two targets for 31 yards and didn’t gain any yardage on a punt return in last week’s win over the Packers. Despite moving to the No. 3 receiver role behind Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison, Nailor made the most of his limited opportunities. His speed and big-play ability give him some upside, especially if the Vikings look to spread the ball around in London. Nailor remains a dart throw in large tournaments, but his potential for explosive plays makes him an intriguing low-cost flex option.

Tyler Conklin ($3,200 Flex)

Tyler Conklin hauled in four of eight targets for 17 yards in a disappointing performance against the Broncos last week. He had a 12-yard reception wiped out by a penalty, but he still managed to tie for the team lead in targets. Conklin’s involvement in the passing game remains steady, making him a decent PPR option despite his limited yardage output. He’ll look to bounce back against his former team in London, where his target volume could make him a valuable low-cost flex play in a Jets offense that needs all the help it can get.

Dart Throw Plays (Various)

Here are a few dart plays to round out your lineup. These are high-risk, high-reward picks best suited for GPPs—not for cash games:

  • Ty Chandler (RB, MIN) $4,000 Flex – Ty Chandler had just three carries for five yards and one catch for eight yards last week, playing only eight snaps as Aaron Jones dominated the backfield. Chandler is clearly the second option behind Jones, but he could see more work if the Vikings decide to mix things up in London.
  • Josh Oliver (TE, MIN) $2,800 Flex – Josh Oliver caught both of his targets for 10 yards and a touchdown last week while playing a season-high 70% of snaps. With T.J. Hockenson still sidelined, Oliver remains a sneaky dart throw for a red-zone score in this game.
  • Johnny Mundt (WR, NYJ) $2,400 Flex – Johnny Mundt grabbed two receptions for 15 yards on two targets last week, but his fantasy value may fade with the return of Jordan Addison and a potential comeback for T.J. Hockenson. He’s a low-upside dart throw in a crowded Jets offense.
  • Brandon Powell (WR, MIN) $2,000 Flex–  Brandon Powell is ready to suit up after dealing with a chest injury, and he’ll continue his role as the Vikings’ No. 3 receiver. While his offensive involvement is limited behind Jefferson and Addison, he has some appeal as a return specialist in deeper GPP formats.
  • Xavier Gipson (WR, NYJ) $1,600 Flex – Xavier Gipson had four targets last week but only managed one catch for six yards, struggling to make an impact in the rain-soaked game. While he contributes on special teams, his role in the passing game remains limited and inconsistent.
  • Jeremy Ruckert (TE, NYJ) $1,200 Flex – Jeremy Ruckert has posted back-to-back two-catch games, but he’s still far behind Tyler Conklin in the target pecking order. Unless the Jets’ offense suddenly turns things around, Ruckert’s fantasy upside remains minimal.

DraftKings SMF Showdown 2024 – New York @Minnesota Kickers and DSTs

Greg Zuerlein ($5,000) made three of his four field-goal attempts in last week’s loss to the Broncos, scoring all of the Jets’ points in the 10-9 defeat. While he connected on kicks from 23, 35, and 40 yards, his missed 50-yarder in the final minute ended the Jets’ chances of a comeback. Zuerlein’s accuracy has been decent this season, but he’s just 5-for-7 on field goals heading into Week 5. If you think the Jets will struggle to finish drives in London, Zuerlein is a reliable play with solid volume. Will Reichard ($4,800) has been perfect through the first four weeks of his NFL career, going 6-for-6 on field goals and 14-for-14 on extra points. He made his only field-goal attempt last week and all four of his extra points in the Vikings’ close win over the Packers. The rookie kicker has shown great consistency, and with the Vikings’ offense moving the ball well, he should continue to get scoring opportunities. Reichard offers a safe floor as a kicker in what could be a high-scoring game.

Vikings DST ($4,400) been solid in applying pressure, ranking 7th in rush success rate allowed (36%) and generating consistent disruptions in the passing game. However, they’ve allowed 1,097 passing yards through four games, which could make this a favorable matchup for Aaron Rodgers and the Jets. If you believe the Vikings can get after Rodgers and force mistakes, they’re worth considering in GPP lineups. Just keep in mind that the Jets’ offense has the potential to find its rhythm, making this a riskier play. Jets DST ($3,600) continues to be one of the stingiest in the league, ranking 5th in points allowed per game and tied for 4th in sacks. They’ve been strong against both the run and the pass, and will be looking to contain Sam Darnold and the Vikings’ offense in London. If you think the Jets can control the game and pressure Darnold into mistakes, this defense offers good upside at an affordable price. However, if the Vikings’ playmakers like Jefferson and Addison get loose, it could be a risky play.
