Finishing off another Sunday of the 2022 season with Dallas @Philadelphia with the DraftKings showdown slate. The Eagles are the last undefeated team in the league, and face the toughest defense of their season so far. The Cowboys are interesting, as we could see the return of their starting QB (FWIW I think Cooper Rush likely keeps the job one more week). AN O/U of 42, with the Eagles currently favorites between a TD and a FG (although we could see that line move, depending on QB news)
DraftKings SNF Showdown 2022 –Dallas @Philadelphia Captain Picks
Jalen Hurts ($17,700 Capt/ $11,800 Flex)
Another slate where I recommend a QB captain, although I generally wouldn’t. The thing is when you have dual-threat QBs who are able to be a threat on the ground and have top-level receivers, you are getting pretty much every part of the offense in selecting them. This is probably the hardest defensive unit that he has faced this season, but he should be able to overcome it.
Miles Sanders ($12,600 Capt/ $8,400 Flex)
Sanders has been pretty involved in the offense, leading the backfield in touches. With his usage in the passing game too, he should see over 15 touches overall in this one. With Dallas’ pass-rush being so effective, they have struggled to stop the run. A nice low-ownership CPT play on the slate.
DeVonta Smith ($11,100 Capt/ $7,400 Flex)
If you are wanting a lineup full of high-priced options, you need to save at the CPT position. Smith can be that option. The Eagles offense is concentrated on A.J. Brown, Smith and Dallas Goedert with 112 of the 152 targets in the offense to date. Smith has had double-digit targets in two games this season, and has done well with them as a deep threat.
DraftKings SNF Showdown 2022 – Dallas @Philadelphia Flex Picks
A.J. Brown ($10,600 Flex)
Brown has been decent, but not slate-breaking for a few weeks, and only scored once this season, with the team heavily scoring on the ground. I mean, it’s actually just Hurts, with him scoring 6 of the team total 16 TDs. If the Cowboys are able to stop Hurts in the red-zone he is going to need to pass the ball, which should help Brown on the slate be one of the top-scorers.
CeeDee Lamb ($9,800 Flex)
Lamb has been fantasy viable with Dak Prescott out, he just hasn’t had that massive upside in the same way. His target share has been fantastic all season, and as a result of volume he can put up big scores. The Eagles secondary has improved, which caps his upside here, but his volume should see him through- especially in DK’s PPR scoring.
Ezekiel Elliott/ Tony Pollard ($8,200/ $8,000 Flex)
The Dallas backfield is a tough one to navigate, but getting the right option in this one could really pay off. Elliott hasn’t really done anything of note this season, but he seems to continue to be handed the ball on the ground. If the Cowboys manage to get the ball down to the redzone, then Elliott is going to get usage- if he scored 2 TDs in this game I wouldn’t be shocked. With the carries on the ground too, offers a safe floor.
Pollard has looked the more explosive and efficient back, but he isn’t really getting the volume of touches that you would hope for. Pollard’s floor is lower, as he could be overlooked in the passing game, as he has been against the Rams and Giants (although he dominated on the ground against the Giants).
Dallas Goedert ($6,800 Flex)
Goedert has been one of the favored targets of Hurts, with 15 targets in the last two weeks. I’m expecting there to be a few more dump-offs in this game too, as the Cowboys push the pocket with their pass-rush. A nice cheap flex option with upside if he falls into the endzone.
Dak Prescott ($6,000 Flex)
In true Jerry Jones style, Prescott hasn’t been ruled out for the game. I don’t think he will actually play in a meaningful way in this one. But check the reports before the game to see if he is going to suit up. If he does, then the price point is a smash.
Michael Gallup ($5,400 Flex)
Gallup stepped right back into the offense as the secondary target. The issue is that under Cooper Rush, that secondary target isn’t a huge role. Gallup has the ability to convert a reception for a big gain, which is exactly what he needs in this one to hit value. If he were slightly more expensive, I wouldn’t be considering him in this one.
Dalton Schultz ($4,800 Flex)
Schultz’s appearances on my lineup are literally tied to Prescott being able to play. With Cooper Rush throwing the ball, Schultz has struggled for fantasy. If Prescott were to be brought back, Schultz should see a significant target bump as the QB tries to establish some rhythm in the offense.
DraftKings SNF Showdown 2022 – Dallas @Philadelphia Kickers and DSTs
Despite the effectiveness of the Eagles offense, I’m fine with playing the Cowboys DST ($3,400). They are HUNTING the QB with 3 games with 5 or more sacks this season, with turnovers forced as a result. With the speed of the playmakers on defense too, they can return any one of them for a TD. They likely need the score to hit value with how effective the Eagles offense are, but I’ll have some lineups with them. Equally, the Eagles DST ($4,200) are a nice play if they are able to turn up the pressure on Cooper Rush. I’d prefer the upside of the Dallas unit though, and they are cheaper.
On this slate, both kickers are worth considering. The Eagles to date haven’t had to settle for FGs, but the Cowboys DST are likely to force a few stops, creating FG opportunities which is what you need. Jake Elliott ($4,000) is an effective kicker, with the leg and accuracy you need. Brett Maher ($3,800) is going to be mover owned in this one I feel, as he is slightly cheaper and you’ve seen it from him this season. The Cowboys have needed Maher to convert kicks, where the offense has stalled under Cooper Rush. Maher has only missed one FG on the season too.
