DraftKings SNF Showdown 2023 – Baltimore @Jacksonville

Another 2023 DraftKings showdown slate this time Baltimore @Jacksonville. This game has massive importance for the AFC playoffs. The loss of Christian Kirk for the Jaguars is a big one, but they have some receivers returning to fitness here. If the Ravens can get on top early and dial up pressure, it could be a long one for the Jaguars at home. The O/U here is 40.5, with the Ravens around a FG favorite.

DraftKings SNF Showdown 2023 – Baltimore @Jacksonville Captain Picks

Lamar Jackson ($18,600 Capt/ $12,400 Flex)

Jackson is a monster for fantasy, and this is a fantastic matchup for him. It’s going to take some completely unexpected for him to not hit value here. Has a great floor with his rushing ability, and has upside through the air. The only downside here is that his price tag burns up alot, so you need to consider the rest of your lineup here.

Calvin Ridley ($12,900 Capt/ $8,600 Flex)

Ridley had a huge 13 targets last week. The issue was that he only managed to catch 4 of them for 53 yards. Ridley has been a little streaky this season, but this offense is going to give him the opportunity to make plays with Christian Kirk on the sidelines. Leaves plenty on the slate for you to spend up here too.

Evan Engram ($11,400 Capt/ $7,600 Flex)

Engram is probably my favored Jaguar CPT on the slate. Ridley has a great ceiling, but Engram gets plenty of checkdowns for a safe floor AND he has involvement in the redzone too. Has been on a scoring streak too, with 3 in his last two games (2 in his last game!).

DraftKings SNF Showdown 2023 – Baltimore @Jacksonville Flex Picks

Trevor Lawrence ($10,400 Flex)

Lawrence misses out on CPT consideration for me as he is still affected by his ankle injury. But, he is still playing well and has a good chance of having a solid game here. It’s not an easy matchup, and the Ravens pass rush is going to be trying to get Lawrence to move often to test his ankle. Lawrence is a great flex option though. Stacking him with Engram feels like a nice way to start your lineup.

Travis Etienne ($10,200 Flex)

Last week the Rams ripped this defensive line apart on the ground. Etienne absolutely has the ability to do the same this week. The issue will be how the Jaguars approach this game. If they decide to air it out then Etienne is really going to struggle to hit value. Doesn’t really get many checkdowns either, with Engram an important part of this passing attack.

Zay Flowers ($8,800 Flex)

Flowers is having a great rookie season. Moves all over the offense, and has the agility and speed to find the endzone when he has the ball in his hands. Has great upside here as Jackson’s favored receiver. If he is given the opportunity, Flowers should have a great game against this secondary.

Gus Edwards/ Keaton Mitchell ($7,400/ $5,800 Flex)

I really considered leaving the write up of Edwards into the dart-throw section. He is losing plenty of work in the backfield- but still is getting the goal line work. Could punch his way into the endzone twice on three carries here. But if he doesn’t find the endzone he could really struggle to get any real score.

Mitchell’s price means I can see him being really highly owned here. Explosive runner, who has been getting plenty of touches out of the backfield. He feels like he has a much safer floor than Edwards, but Edwards and his goal-line work really caps his ceiling here.

Odell Beckham Jr. ($7,200 Flex)

Beckham is showing that he still has some ability, making big plays downfield in the Ravens pass attack. Has a massive amount of upside in this one, and a decent floor. I think you really have to choose between one between Flowers and Beckham though- you can’t really get them both in your roster unless you went for a cheap CPT play.

Isaiah Likely ($6,800 Flex)

Likely is the starting TE for Ravens, with Mark Andrews out. Has had decent usage in the offense too, with 5 catches last week for 83 yards and a score. Not sure he sees that same usage this week, but he has the trust of Jackson in key downs- including near the endzone. The upside is there, but not sure you have a safe floor here.

D’Ernest Johnson ($6,200 Flex)

Johnson was buried on the depth chart to start the season, but now seems to be getting RB2 usage. The price is rough though considering his usage in the offense. Just not getting the touches here. Going to need to snipe and endzone carry, or an injury to Etienne to hit value here.

Zay Jones ($5,600 Flex)

Jones is the WR2 for the Jaguars (maybe the third target, but still) with Christian Kirk on the sidelines. Had a huge 14 targets last week, but didn’t manage to do much at all with them- only 5 catches for 29 yards. Has some appeal at this price, but not a huge amount of upside for him in the offense.

Parker Washington ($4,000 Flex)

Washington popped last week, after struggling early, to score his second TD in two weeks. The price is nice though for a player that has the trust of Lawrence near the goal-line and has shown his ability to make plays if given the opportunity. Feels like he is the easy cutoff to the dart-throws.

Dart Throw Plays (Various)

Instead of writing up a line for a few options with their own sections, thought I’d list out a few in one area. Not really worth considering these as core plays, only in multi-entry GPPs:

  • Tank Bigsby (RB, JAX) $3,800 Flex – Bigsby started the season as the RB2 vulturing TDs, but has lost that role to Johnson. Can’t see much here for him to hit value in this one.
  • Rashod Bateman (WR, BAL) $3,200 Flex – Hasn’t had a great season as he has fallen behind in the depth chart behind Flowers and Beckham. He has the ability to have a big game, but I’m just not sure if he gets the opportunity here.
  • Justice Hill (RB, BAL) $2,600 Flex – Hill is the RB3 here, and doesn’t really feel like he has much of a role here. Edwards gets the goal-line work, Mitchell gets alot of the other work on the ground. He gets some usage as a pass-catcher, but that’s really it.
  • Nelson Agholor (WR, BAL) $2,400 Flex – Agholor is on the field alot, at least he was last week, but isn’t seeing that translate into opportunity in the offense. Has speed, and safe hands, so plenty of appeal at the price. Just doesn’t have that much upside.
  • Luke Farrell (TE, JAX) $1,200 Flex – TE2 in the offense. Doesn’t get alot of work in the offense, but has the body size to give him redzone appeal. BUt it’s almost truly TD or bust.
  • Jamal Agnew (WR, JAX) $200 Flex – Agnew was activated from IR, and could be active in this one. Washington has been great as the WR3, but Agnew has played that role plenty in his career. At min-price he has to do next to nothing for him to hit value.

My favorite plays from the above are Agholor and Agnew. Agholor is on the field a decent amount, and has the ability to convert if given the opportunity with his speed. But, if he is active, my preferred play would be Agnew. Min-price opens up alot of options on the slate and he should get a few touches.

DraftKings SNF Showdown 2023 – Baltimore @Jacksonville Kickers and DSTs

Whenever Justin Tucker ($5,400) is on the slate you have to at least consider him. Has been great in recent weeks, as the Ravens have stalled on offense. Not sure they will stall all that much against this defense, which impacts his value here. Brandon McManus ($4,800) has been solid this season, and the Ravens defense is one that is more than capable of forcing stops here. As a result, he is probably my preferred kicker overall as the home kicker and cheaper.

The Ravens DST ($4,400) are a solid unit, capable of getting after the QB consistently and make them feel the pressure. With Lawrence’s ankle injury they are going to be trying to get him to move around. If they can force a turnover or two, they are going to be a decent play on the slate. Not as sold on the Jaguars DST ($3,600). Generally they have been matchup dependent and this isn’t a great matchup to target here. You are really going to be hoping for a score on a turnover, or Jackson having one of his high turnover games.
