DraftKings SNF Showdown 2023 – Green Bay @Minnesota

Another 2023 DraftKings showdown slate this time Green Bay @Minnesota. The battle for the ‘best of the rest’ in the NFC North, after the Lions secured the division title last week. The O/U here is around 44, with the Vikings around a one-point favorite.

DraftKings SNF Showdown 2023 – Green Bay @Minnesota Captain Picks

Justin Jefferson ($18,000 Capt/ $12,000 Flex)

The Packers secondary are without two of their starting CBs, and Jefferson is a handful for any secondary. Has had double-digit targets in each of his last two games, with his last ending up with 141 yards and a TD. If Hall manages to move the ball effectively, Jefferson could be the highest scorer on the slate.

Jordan Love ($16,500 Capt/ $11,000 Flex)

Love looks great throwing the ball, and as a Packers fan I love it. Has thrown multiple TDs through the air in nine of his 15 games this season, and only turned the ball over once through the air in his last six games. In an ideal world he would run the ball a little more, but he has had good success sharing the ball around his receiving options. Tempted to put him as a CPT here, rather than guess at a receiver popping off, but the other options on the slate make him a stronger flex play.

Jaren Hall ($12,600 Capt/ $8,400 Flex)

The Vikings have decided to move back to Hall throwing the ball, after Nick Mullins struggled last time out. Playing at home, and the availability of some of the Packers secondary, he should be able to have a decent game here. The pricing of him gives him CPT appeal, but I think I prefer him as a flex with Jefferson as CPT. But I’ll mix Hall in some lineups.

Ty Chandler ($12,300 Capt/ $8,200 Flex)

The Packers have struggled to limit RB production this season, giving up an average of 24.1 DKPts to the position. Chandler has looked great with the increased volume he has been given, finding the endzone in each of his last two games on the ground. The return of Mattison doesn’t really put me off too much, and the pricing makes him an interesting CPT option if you decide on the ground game working this week.

DraftKings SNF Showdown 2023 – Green Bay @Minnesota Flex Picks

Aaron Jones ($9,800 Flex)

Jones blew up last week against the struggling Panthers defensive line. This matchup is much harder, with the Vikings on’y allowing an average of 20DKPts to the position this season. Jones’ volume has been there, it’s been his lack of scoring that has really affected him for fantasy. With Watson ruled out, and the status of some other receivers in question, Jones is inline to get increased targets here.

Romeo Doubs ($9,000 Flex)

Doubs is likely to be the WR1 for the Packers with Watson ruled out. Leads the team in targets, receptions, yards and TDs this season. Has the ability to make plays on minimal work loads, with him only having double digit targets twice this season (both at the start of the season). Typically getting around 5-6 targets, which hurts his floor a little, but solid ceiling here.

Jordan Addison ($7,800 Flex)

Addison is back to being the WR2 in the offense with the return of Jefferson. Dealing with a high ankle sprain, but is questionable to play here (looking likely to suit up at the time of writing). With Hockenson on IR, he should see a bump in targets here. With the coverage he is likely to face, he could be inline for one of his boom games. At this price, think he should hit value. Think you could go with him and Jefferson in the same lineup too in some lineups.

Jayden Reed ($7,400 Flex)

Reed is second on the team in most receiving metrics, and should be the WR2 for the Packers here. Think we could see the Packers need to throw the ball here if the Vikings get out to a lead. If they do, then Reed could be inline for a decent game with his importance to the offense. With Watson ruled out too, he should be on the field for more snaps.

K.J. Osborn ($6,400 Flex)

Osborn is the WR3 for the Vikings, but with Hockenson on IR, there are more opportunities and targets in the offense. Had a great game last week against the Lions with 5 receptions for 95 yards and a score. With the Packers secondary missing two of their starters, Osborn is going to be facing some backups in coverage. We could see one of those bust games, but at the price, I’ll spin him in some GPP lineups.

Tucker Kraft ($5,800 Flex)

Kraft struggled to get involved in the offense to start the season. Since Musgrave was on IR though, he has been given more opportunity in the team. Gets redzone looks with his big body. The Vikings defense have been great at limiting production to the position this season, but with 22 targets in his last four games, he could have a decent game here.

Dontayvion Wicks ($5,600 Flex)

Wicks is officially questionable heading into this game at the time of writing, after missing some time earlier in the week. Not sure he actually suits up here though. If he does, he should see the field a little more this week, with Watson ruled out here. Has the ability to make a defender miss, and in the open field he is a dangerous runner. As with Doubs, doesn’t need much volume to be productive and hit value.

AJ Dillon ($5,400 Flex)

Dillon has been fine in games where Jones has struggled, or missed, this season. The way the Packers offense has been playing though, it limits their backfield scoring. Jones and DIllon have only combined for 5 TDs all season. With that cap on his ceiling, and not much of a floor with Jones fit, I’d look elsewhere on the slate.

Josh Oliver ($5,200 Flex)

Oliver comes in as the TE1 here, with Hockenson on IR. Was close to being a dart-throw only, given his limited action in the offense, but decided to give him a little bit of a boost here. The reason being the old adage that a young QB likes a big body in the middle of the field. Don’t go crazy here, as think the Vikings will get it to their receivers instead, but worth some consideration here.

Dart Throw Plays (Various)

Instead of writing up a line for a few options with their own sections, thought I’d list out a few in one area. Not really worth considering these as core plays, only in multi-entry GPPs:

  • Alexander Mattison (RB, MIN) $4,400 Flex – Mattison has missed some time recently, which has allowed Chandler to stake his claim as the RB1 for the Vikings. With how well the rookie has done, Mattison should (surely?) be limited to being the RB2 here. Mattison hasn’t scored a rushing TD this season, which feels odd, if he manages to find the endzone here he will hit value. Otherwise, I’m not sure he will.
  • Malik Heath/ Bo Melton/ Samori Toure (WR, GB) $3,400/ $2,400/ $1,600 Flex – There is room for one of these (or more) to have a decent game here. Watson is out, Wicks is questionable (maybe closer to doubtful), which should mean that the team will have more rotation for their WR4 position. Heath and Toure have been more involved this season, but Melton has been involved down the stretch, with six targets last week. I’d go with Melton who has momentum in the offense between them.
  • Brandon Powell (WR, MIN) $3,200 Flex – Powell has been relegated to the WR4 with Jefferson returning to health. Had three receptions last week for 53 yards, so could pop, but think it’s far more likely he duds here.
  • Johnny Mundt (TE, MIN) $2,800 Flex – TE2 here with Hockenson on IR, but has mainly been used as a blocking TE. Could fall into the endzone, but far more likely to struggle to hit value.

DraftKings SNF Showdown 2023 – Green Bay @Minnesota Kickers and DSTs

The kickers here could be decent, with the game being played in a dome. Greg Joseph ($5,000) has hit 21 of his 27 FG attempts this seaosn, with a long of 54. With a new QB throwing the ball, we could see some drives stall out, which should allow Joseph to hit some kicks. Anders Carlson ($4,800) has been ok this season too, with 24 of 29 FG attempts hit- and a long of 53. The Packers kicker could see limited opportunity, if Love can keep the offense moving. Playing on the road, I prefer Joseph here.

The DSTs have some appeal here too. The Vikings DST ($4,000) bring the pressure often, and have managed to succeed in hiding it too. Playing on the road, Love could give up a decent number of sacks here. The Packers DST ($3,600) have some appeal with Hall getting the start here. But, the team are missing several players- especially in the secondary. If they can get some advantage up front, Hall could be forced into making some bad decisions with sacks and turnovers. GPP only play though.
