DraftKings SNF Showdown 2024 – Chicago @Houston

Ready to crush the next 2024 DraftKings Sunday Night Football Showdown slate of Chicago @Houston? There’s no shortage of fantasy points up for grabs. Whether you’re locking in Joe Mixon as your captain or hunting for value plays like Tank Dell, there’s plenty to consider.

This game could turn into a ground-and-pound affair, with Joe Mixon and D’Andre Swift leading their respective backfields. Expect CJ Stroud and Caleb Williams to lean heavily on their playmakers — Nico Collins and D.J. Moore will be key in their offensive game plans. The Bears’ defense has shown some holes, especially against the run, while the Texans look to build on a promising start with their own balanced attack. Get ready for a showdown that could come down to which team can establish the run and control the clock.

DraftKings SNF Showdown 2024 – Chicago @Houston Captain Picks

Joe Mixon ($15,300 Capt/ $10,200 Flex)

Joe Mixon looked strong in his last game against the Colts, and he gets another favorable matchup this week against a Bears defense that has struggled to stop the run. While he logged a whopping 30 carries last game, I would expect that number to come back down to earth a bit. Still, Mixon should be in line for another productive outing. He also caught three passes for a total of 159 yards and a touchdown in that game, and he’s projected to score 14 fantasy points. Mixon is a solid play this week.

Nico Collins ($15,000 Capt/ $10,000 Flex)

Despite being under the weather early in the week, Nico Collins practiced fully on Friday and is expected to play. He still has great chemistry with CJ Stroud, and I like the idea of pairing them up for positive correlation, especially if this game turns into a shoot out. Last game, Collins caught six passes for 117 yards while playing 80% of the snaps. With a projection of 15 fantasy points, he’s a great option.

CJ Stroud ($14,700 Capt/ $9,800 Flex)

CJ Stroud had a solid showing against the Colts, but he’ll face a tougher test against a Bears defense that recently shut down the Titans’ passing game. Stroud threw for 234 yards, two touchdowns, and added 13 rushing yards in his last game. He’ll need to get the ball out quickly to avoid Chicago’s pass rush. He’s projected to score 16 fantasy points, making him a viable option.

Stefon Diggs ($14,100 Capt/ $9,400 Flex)

Last game, Stefon Diggs posted six catches for just 33 yards but found the end zone twice against the Colts. The Bears’ defense looked solid, but Diggs’ chemistry with CJ Stroud is alive and well. As a prominent red-zone threat, Diggs will be looking to show out in his first home game. He is projected to score 13 fantasy points and is worth considering in your lineup.

DraftKings SNF Showdown 2024 – Chicago @Houston Flex Picks

D.J. Moore ($9,000 Flex)

While the Bears didn’t look great in Week 1, DJ Moore displayed the best chemistry with Caleb Williams, connecting on three of the longest passes. Houston’s secondary has its share of vulnerabilities, which Moore is well-equipped to exploit. He had five catches on eight targets for 36 yards in the last game and is projected to score 16 fantasy points, making him an appealing choice.

Caleb Williams ($8,800 Flex)

Caleb Williams struggled in his last game, putting up only 93 passing yards and 15 rushing yards. This isn’t surprising given his inexperience and the learning curve of adjusting to the NFL’s speed. By the end of the year, Williams should be better, but for now, I’m not too eager to roster him due to his potential for turnovers. He does have some chemistry with DJ Moore, so if you’re using Moore as your captain, I don’t mind throwing Williams into the flex. His projection at this price leaves room for a competitive lineup, and he’s projected to score 14 fantasy points.

Keenan Allen ($8,400 Flex)

Last week, Keenan Allen was used as a decoy due to his injury but still managed four catches for 29 yards on 11 targets. If healthy, he should be able to capitalize on those opportunities and have a productive day. I like the idea of pairing him with Caleb Williams for correlation, and if you’re feeling adventurous, you could stack Allen, Moore, and Williams for a mini team stack. He is projected to score 14 fantasy points.

Tank Dell ($7,400 Flex)

I have got big expectations for Tank Dell this season. Although he had a quiet performance against the Colts, I anticipate a bounce-back game The Bears’ secondary is strong, but it only takes one play for Dell to slip past the defense and hit value. In his last game, Dell caught three of seven targets for 40 yards and added 19 rushing yards. I expect him to be a crucial factor for Houston’s chance of winning, and he is projected to score 12 fantasy points.

D’Andre Swift ($7,000 Flex)

D’Andre Swift rushed for 30 yards on 10 carries last game and was targeted once in the passing game. Chicago claims to be using a committee approach, but Swift was the clear leader with no other back seeing more than two carries. He’s the number one option on passing downs and could be a decent flex play if the Bears fall behind. He is projected to score 8 fantasy points.

Rome Odunze ($6,400 Flex)

Rome Odunze dealt with an injury tag all week but returned to practice on Friday. His production has been limited, and I expect that to continue in this game. At his current price and with a low projection, I’m not too excited about rostering him. The only scenario where I would consider him is if Keenan Allen ends up sitting out. Odunze is projected to score just 4 fantasy points.

Dalton Schultz ($5,600 Flex)

Dalton Schultz carried an injury designation for most of the week, causing him to miss several practices. While it’s mainly for veteran rest days, I’m not enthusiastic about using a low-usage tight end in showdown formats, particularly at this price. Last game, he had just three catches for 16 yards—nothing to write home about. I have him projected at 5 fantasy points.

Cole Kmet ($5,000 Flex)

Cole Kmet was targeted just once in the last game, which is concerning considering the game script favored passing. It appears Chicago is focused on getting the ball to their wide receivers, so I’m fading Kmet at this price point. He is projected to score 3 fantasy points.

Dart Throw Plays (Various)

Here are a few dart plays to round out your lineup. These are high-risk, high-reward picks best suited for GPPs—not for cash games:

  • Khalil Herbert (RB, CHI) $3,600 Flex – Khalil Herbert barely saw any opportunities in the last game, and I expect that trend to continue barring an injury to Swift. Even though Chicago claims to run a committee, the touch distribution tells a different story, with Swift looking like the clear number one. If you think Swift might get injured, then Herbert could be a viable pick; otherwise, look elsewhere. I have him projected at less than a fantasy point.
  • Gerald Everett (TE, CHI) $2,400 Flex – I’m not interested in playing Gerald Everett due to his low usage; he’s overpriced and should be closer to the $200 range. The only reason to consider him is if you believe he might snag a red-zone target and sneak one in.
  • Deandre Carter (WR, CHI) $2,000 Flex – I’m more inclined to play Deandre Carter over any of the Chicago tight ends. He had the same number of targets as Kmet and Everett combined. Chicago seems focused on getting the ball to their wide receivers, so if you’re looking for a cheap option, Carter would be my pick. Plus, he’s lightning-fast and could return a punt, which makes him an interesting pairing with the defense.
  • Travis Homer (RB, CHI) $2,000 Flex –Travis Homer is in the same situation as Herbert. If you think Swift might get injured—which, let’s face it, he’s been known to do—then Homer becomes a viable option. I like him at his price, especially since there’s no clear indication who the true RB2 is.
  • Brevin Jordan (TE, HOU) $1,600 Flex – If you’re looking for a Houston player, Brevin Jordan might be a sneaky play. His price is low, and while his usage isn’t high, if he can find the end zone, he makes for a great cheap option.

DraftKings SNF Showdown 2024 – Chicago @Houston Kickers and DSTs

Ka’imi Fairbairn ($4,800) made three field goals last game, including a 50-yarder that he drilled with ease. If you’re expecting a low-scoring game, I like Fairbairn as a cheap play. Cairo Santos ($4,400)was perfect on his field goal attempts last week, hitting all three, including a 50-yarder. He could be a good stack with the Bears defense if they struggle to move the ball.

Texans DST ($4,000) had one interception and two sacks in their last game. Considering the Bears posted the fewest yards in Week 1, this should be an easy matchup where they can build on last week’s performance. Bears DST ($3,000) notched three sacks and three turnovers, including a pick-six in their last outing. They also have an elite returner capable of taking it to the house. I like the Bears D/ST, and they could be responsible for a win if the Bears pull it off. Pair them with a skill player and kicker for a solid lineup option.
