So here we are back for DraftKings Superbowl Selections! Each year, all of the roads lead to the big game and unfortunately, the end of the season. I hope that this game lives up to the expectations, with both teams being impressive all season. The game itself should be interesting clash of styles, with Kansas City attacking through the air and San Fransisco attacking the ground.
With the slate being only one game, the game style is different from other weeks- with users forced to play a ‘Showdown’. The style is slightly different, with your lineup made up of 1 Captain slot and 5 flex slots. The Captain scores 1.5x his normal score, but costs 1.5x his normal salary. That change allows for diversification in lineups, but also makes the captain selection vital for success.

Superbowl Selections: Captain
Patrick Mahomes ($18,900) is the most expensive player on the slate this week, and likely the most popular choice for captain. San Fransisco might have a great defense, with a great pass rush forcing quarterbacks to throw into tight windows. But if there was a quarterback that would manage it- it’s Mahomes.
George Kittle ($12,600) is my selection if I’m not opting for Mahomes this week. Kansas City has an effective pass defense but has struggled against tight ends this season. Kittle is a big part of San Fransisco‘s offense, and if they are forced to pass the ball to keep with Kansas City, he should get plenty of volume.
Superbowl Selections: Flex Positions
Jimmy Garoppolo ($8,000) is cheap for a quarterback in a showdown, but there is a reason why. San Fransisco just doesn’t seem to want to trust him with the ball- especially in the playoffs. In the post-season, he has attempted to pass the ball just 27 times. So why the inclusion? Kansas City are going to be airing it out- meaning Garoppolo is likely to be forced to pass the ball this week.
Emmanuel Sanders ($5,200) is a valuable player for San Fransisco off the field, with his experience in the league. Kansas City are likely to try and stop Deebo Samuel having an impact on the game, Sanders could find himself having a big game.
Harrison Butker ($4,200) is a good option, given that Kansas City might struggle to always convert their possessions into touchdowns. If that happens then the kicker with the most field goals in the league is a fantastic option.
Mecole Hardman ($2,200) is a risky play, but at some point, you need to have a player in your lineup that isn’t an obvious play. Hardman has big-play ability, and a single touchdown would give him value. As the team’s return man, he has another (unlikely) method of scoring.
