DraftKings TNF Showdown 2022 – Atlanta @Carolina

We are here to cover the 2022 DraftKings showdown slate for Thursday Night Football Week 10, Atlanta @Carolina.

DraftKings TNF Showdown 2022 – Atlanta @Carolina Bay Captain Picks

Cordarrelle Patterson ($17,700 Capt/ $11,800 Flex)

Patterson feels like the obvious choice for me at the CPT spot. The Panthers have struggled to stop running production (not helped by Joe Mixon his past week), and the Falcons run the ball alot. Last week he wasn’t on the field all that much, returning from injury, but managed to get into the endzone twice. In this game, I’d expect to see him take on his heavy workload he had to start the season. Needs to score to hit value, but sees plenty of the ball in the offense- and especially the redzone.

Marcus Mariota ($15,300 Capt/ $10,200 Flex)

Mariota is having big games, running the ball plenty before throwing it downfield. The issue is that he is being massively inconsistent and the Falcons run the ball more than any other team. The lack of throwing volume hurts Mariota, who has been struggling to get the ball to his receivers efficiently. His best performance of the season was actually against Carolina in Week 8, throwing for 253 yards, 3 TD passes and 43 yards on the ground. If you get that game again- great. But don’t go wild with him in case you get his Week 4 production. For a QB having that varied range of outcomes is crazy.

D.J. Moore ($13,800 Capt/ $9,200 Flex)

If Moore had a half-decent QB throwing him the ball, this would feel like a slam dunk. He is the primary target in the offense, on the field constantly and he had his only 100 yard plus game against the Falcons two weeks ago. With DK’s PPR scoring, he is a nice floor selection.

Kyle Pitts ($10,500 Capt/ $7,000 Flex)

Pitts had his best game of the season in the reverse fixture (as alot of players did). Even in this low-volume passing offense, he is getting a decent number of targets, so they are giving him the opportunity with the ball. This past week the Falcons have spoken about how they need to get one of the best pieces of their offense the ball more, so we could see him getting even more targets. With how he has generally played this season, alot of people are going to overlook him for the CPT spot.

DraftKings TNF Showdown 2022 – Atlanta @Carolina Flex Picks

P.J. Walker ($9,600 Flex)

Walker has been announced as the starter for the game, despite struggling so much the team benched him for Baker Mayfield last time out. Any other slate, there is no way I’d consider Walker. But on a showdown slate, you need to at least think about including him in some lineups. If you need an example, look no further than Davis Mills for Houston against the Eagles. Everything pointed to him struggling, and he managed to have a good game- we could see the same thing happen for Walker.

Terrance Marshall Jr. ($8,400 Flex)

Marshall has shown the ability that got him drafted. With Robbie Anderson out of town, Marshall has established himself as the secondary receiver for the Panthers. The price feels a little high, but with the majority of the field looking to Moore, Marshall is a nice pivot away. I’d suggest not looking at the box score until the end of the game, as he has a habit of popping off right towards the end of games.

Drake London ($8,200 Flex)

London really needs more volume, with his targets really dropping off from the start of the season. The Falcons offense has really looked like it is more than happy to abandon the aerial attack, or flip flop between London and Pitts. That’s not great news considering his price-point. I’d much rather Pitts who is $1.2k cheaper.

D’Onta Foreman ($7,800 Flex)

If Hubbard wasn’t looking like he was ready to play, I’d be all over Foreman at this price. He just ruined the Falcons defense last time out, with over 100 yards and 3 scores. After struggling last week though, we could see Foreman lose some touches to Hubbard. That just knocks him down for me. I’ll still have him in some lineups, but not as heavy as I would have been.

Tyler Allgeier/ Caleb Huntley ($6,200/ $4,800 Flex)

A secondary RB for the Falcons might be a sneaky play here. The Falcons run the ball more than nearly anyone in the league, and while the expectation is that Patterson will return to his workload- it might not be the case. I’m going to have lineups with a mix of them both, but feel like I will have more of Allgeier on the slate. He had a great game last time out against the Chargers with 99 yards and a single catch for 24 yards, and on the field more often than Huntley.

Chuba Hubbard ($5,800 Flex)

Hubbard returning doesn’t feel like something that makes me want to play him, it just turns me off Foreman. Hubbard is a player I’ll have some shares in, as I expect the Panthers are going to need to dump the ball off with PJ Walker just struggling to do anything. If he manages to have 40% of the touches in this one, he will be an interesting pivot. Maybe I’m talking myself into it- ok, I’ll have him in some lineups where I don’t have Foreman, but I’m not expecting too much here.

Olamide Zaccheaus ($5,400 Flex)

Zaccheaus has been operating as the WR3 in this offense- making him extremely volatile. This is the type of game where he could have one big play and hit value straight away. I won’t have alot of shares of him, but I’ll have him in some lineups.

Laviska Shenault ($3,000 Flex)

Shenault to me feels very much like the type of player that could be in a winning GPP lineup. He isn’t on the field all that much, but when he is he is being given the ball. Against the Falcons in Week 8 he saw the field the most this season, on the field for 29% of the offensive plays. It might be my dynasty shares talking, but I could see a box score similar to his Week 2 performance against the Saints- 2 catches for 90 yards and a TD.

DraftKings TNF Showdown 2022 – Atlanta @Carolina Kickers and DSTs

With both offenses struggling to convert opportunities both kickers have decent value, and probably one of the safest floors on the slate. Younghoe Koo ($4,200) won this game for the Falcons in OT in Week 8. Koo has been largely accurate this season, only missing on deep attempts. He has slotted three kicks from 50+ yards, so he has the leg to convert if given the opportunity. Eddy Pineiro ($4,000) equally has been able to be accurate, missing 2 of his 16 FG attempts this season.

The Falcons DST ($5,200) and Panthers DST ($3,800). Not really too sure what to make of them both. The offenses of both teams struggle, so makes them interesting- but they don’t really have too many playmakers. The Falcons going up against PJ Walker is nice, given his struggles likely resulting in some sacks and turnovers. The Panthers are the team I’m more likely to lean towards though. They have more playmakers on defense, and Mariota has shown his issues for the Falcons too. The fact they are $1.4k cheaper too?
