Wildcard weekend is here and another 2023 DraftKings showdown slate this time Philadelphia @Tampa Bay. An O/U of 43.5, with the Eagles favored by 3 points.
DraftKings Wildcard Showdown 2023 – Philadelphia @Tampa Bay Captain Picks
Jalen Hurts ($17,400 Capt/ $11,600 Flex)
With his dual-threat it’s hard not to just lock Hurts in as the CPT in all lineups and move on. Even with his dislocated finger he should be great here. Rushing upside, and the ability to make nearly any throw on the field. Great floor and ceiling here.
Mike Evans ($15,900 Capt/ $10,600 Flex)
Evans mas maybe the biggest ceiling on this slate. The Eagles secondary have struggled all season, and Evans has been great with Mayfield throwing the ball. Had five catches for 60 yards and a TD earlier in the year, think he could hit that or do better here. Prefer Hurts, but I’ll mix in some Evans CPT lineups.
Baker Mayfield ($14,700 Capt/ $9,800 Flex)
Mayfield isn’t the type of QB that would normally get CPT consideration. But he is playing great this year, and having him as your CPT gives you exposure to Evans and his other receiving weapons. With the struggles this secondary has had this season, he should be able to carve up here. A GREAT flex play if you don’t have him as CPT.
DraftKings Wildcard Showdown 2023 – Philadelphia @Tampa Bay Flex Picks
Rachaad White ($10,200 Flex)
White has been getting a huge amount of volume in the offense, dominating carries and getting some targets mixed in too. Not sure I can get there for White in the CPT, as the volume might nto lead to much production with how the Eagles defensive line has been this season. If the Bucs get out to a lead though he could end up getting enough volume to be effective.
DeVonta Smith ($8,600 Flex)
With A.J. Brown ruled out here, Smith is going to be the WR1 for the Eagles. Smith himself isn’t 100% though, as he has an ankle injury, but he should be fine to go here. Great matchup against this secondary, and has a nice price point. Think he is going to be a popular flex option on the slate.
Chris Godwin ($7,800 Flex)
Godwin started to put together some decent production as the season was ending. Feels like a great price point here, with the Eagles secondary struggling to stop much through the air this season. Should be able to hit value easily at this price, but doesn’t have the same ceiling as Evans.
D’Andre Swift ($7,200 Flex)
Swift is set to return after missing last week with an injury. The Eagles like to run the ball, but this Tampa front is a tough unit to move the ball on. Although, Swift did get one of the few 100+ yard performances against them earlier in the season. Decent flex play for volume though (similar to White). But has a lower ceiling with how Hurts likes to get involved near the goal line.
Dallas Goedert ($6,400 Flex)
Goedert has been ok but not great this season. Not had those big games that he has had previously. If Hurts isn’t as healthy as reports are making out, then Goedert could see more checkdowns from his QB to move the ball. But, at this price, I don’t know if I’d go crazy with him in my lineups.
Julio Jones ($3,800 Flex)
Jones had a weird game where he scored 2 TDs in a single game after struggling to get a target since he was signed. Brown being ruled out will give some opportunity for somebody to step up as the WR2 in the offense. At this price he could hit value nicely.
Trey Palmer ($2,800 Flex)
Palmer is the clear WR3 in the offense, and has some appeal given that the Eagles secondary is awful. Think Mayfield will be throwing the ball plenty here, and Palmer should be inline for some targets. Cheapest ‘viable’ option.
Dart Throw Plays (Various)
Instead of writing up a line for a few options with their own sections, thought I’d list out a few in one area. Not really worth considering these as core plays, only in multi-entry GPPs:
- Cade Otton (TE, TB) $5,400 Flex – Starting TE, but very dependent on finding the endzone with how many targets he gets. If he doesn’t find the endzone he is going to struggle to hit value here.
- Chase Edmonds (RB, TB) $4,400 Flex – Edmonds got some work to end the season, but this is clearly White’s backfield. Only way that changes is injury. At the price would need to find the endzone to hit value.
- Kenneth Gainwell (RB, PHI) $4,200 Flex – Gainwell saw more work last week with Swift on the sidelines. Don’t think that is going to be what we see here though, but still involved in the passing game which could help him hit value with DK’s PPR scoring.
- Quez Watkins (WR, PHI) $3,000 Flex – Watkins isn’t get much volume in this offense. But truly he doesn’t need that much to hit value as a deep threat. Great upside here with targets available, but not much (any!?) floor here.
- Olamide Zaccheaus (WR, PHI) $2,000 Flex – Zaccheaus could see more of a run here, but he is behind Watkins and Jones on the depth chart. Absolute dart throw.
- Jack Stoll/ Grant Calcaterra (TE, PHI) $600/ $200 Flex – These two are getting on the field, but only working as blockers really. Even at this low price tag they are unlikely to hit value unless they fall into the endzone.
DraftKings Wildcard Showdown 2023 – Philadelphia @Tampa Bay Kickers and DSTs
The kickers here have some value, given the ability of both offenses. Jake Elliott ($5,000) has been solid all year and one of the better fantasy kickers in the league. Could have a decent game here on the road. The Bucs defense is a decent unit, and can force some stops near the goal line. if the Eagles struggle a little on offense, he could see some work here. Chase McLaughlin ($4,800) should have a good game too, with his ability to boom the ball from distance. Playing at home and a discount to Elliott, I could see a scenario play out where these are both decent options
Tampa DST ($4,000) are going to be wanting to put pressure on Hurts early and see if he is fit, or if that finger is going to cause him issues. Their pass rush has been decent, and if they are able to force a turnover they could be a sneaky GPP option here. Eagles DST ($3,400) has been struggling this season, and now have a road game to face an offense that has been decent this season. They have playmakers to cause damage, but that’s what you need- a TD otherwise they could struggle here.
