Notable Players- Justin Fields

The value of Fields is clearly on the ground. I’m not saying that he can’t take a step forward as a QB and pass the ball a bit more, but this offense has been built on moving the ball on the ground. The addition of D.J. Moore will given him a veteran receiving target, to go alongside Darnell Mooney who struggled last season. Fields is in a mid-tier for me, with good upside to go along with his rushing floor.

Notable Players- D’Onta Foreman 

Foreman has been brought over from the Panthers and is set to lead this backfield. Last season the Bears worked David Montgomery effectively with the rushing threat from Fields. I’m expecting a similar thing to happen here with Foreman. The obvious issue with Foreman is that he hasn’t shown an ability to catch passes, which makes him very one-dimensional.

Outside of Foreman, it’s hard to trust anyone. I can’t see the team really splitting the workload in a way that helps out anyone out too much for fantasy. If forced, I’d lean towards rookie Roschon Johnson as he has youth on his side.

Notable Players- D.J. Moore, Darnell Mooney & Chase Claypool

This receiving group didn’t really have one guy who could do anything of note consistently, which forced the team to run the ball. Adding Moore as part of the trade with the Panthers for their first overall selection was a great move for the Bears, as it gave them an effective receiver who can move the chains. I’m not sure how he really fits into this offense though, with his ability on short and intermediate routes not meshing with how the Bears played last season. But, I can only imagine that the Bears will change their style to fit Moore.

Mooney is an interesting player, after looking set to be a great receiver last offseason, he struggled to make an impact for fantasy. But, as he should now get secondary coverage, he could have a season similar to his 2021 season where he had over 1,000 receiving yards.

Lastly, there is Claypool. Frankly, this was a bad trade for the Bears. He doesn’t really offer the team that much. But, he is still going to be out on the field and has the raw talent to make plays. I think it’s far more likely he frustrates Moore and Mooney owners with random scores than has his own fantasy value.

Notable Players- Cole Kmet & Robert Tonyan

In having 2 TEs, in a run-first offense, both of them are just unable to be relied upon for fantasy. Their styles are going to eat into each others production, with Kmet the better receiver, but Tonyan the more effective red zone weapon. They’ll have some weeks of relevance, but you can’t really draft either of them.
