Notable Players- C.J. Stroud

Stroud was taken in with the second pick in the draft, and he should be given the opportunity to lead this team for years to come. The Texans have already made moves to protect him, bringing back some players from last year and bringing in Mason. The team also made moves to add veteran talent at receiver, with Robert Woods and Dalton Schultz. 

The team are trying to give Stroud the weapons and tools to succeed, but this is still a rookie taking the helm with an inexperienced coaching staff. Outside of bye weeks, unless you are playing in Superflex leagues, Stroud isn’t worth rostering.

Notable Players- Dameon Pierce & Devin Singletary

Pierce had a great season last year, working as the volume back out of the backfield on a struggling offense. This season though, he is going to need to hand over some of the duties to veteran free agent signing Devin Singletary. Pierce should still be a nice selection in drafts where you have gone WR-heavy to start as he has shown his ability to lead a backfield.

Singletary moving teams to the Texans gives him an opportunity to actually touch the ball near the goal-line, rather than seeing his QB run the ball. But, with Pierce already on the team, it’s hard to see him taking a larger role than the one he had with the Bills. Singletary might actually end up being the better selection than Pierce with his established pass-catching ability.

Notable Players- Robert Woods, John Metchie & Nico Collins

The Texans receiving group struggled last season, and let Brandin Cooks leave during the offseason. To answer that, the team added a few veterans and talent in the draft. 

Robert Woods should see a healthy target share as an established veteran working out of the slot will be a nice safety blanket for Stroud. The touchdowns I’m not sure will be there, but really they never have been for Woods in his career. His value comes from his reception numbers, and with the lack of top-tier talent on the roster, there isn’t alot of competition here.

Metchie will feel like a new player, after missing last season due to his leukemia diagnosis and should compete with Nico Collins to work as the secondary receiver on the team. But, given the lack of scoring on this offense, it’s hard to roster either receiver to start the season.

Notable Players- Dalton Schultz

Schultz left the Cowboys after playing on the tag last year. Moving in state to the Texans puts him as one of the leading receivers on this depth chart, which should give him the opportunity to be fantasy viable from a volume standpoint. The ceiling might not quite be there on a new (and potentially struggling) offense, but in the TE landscape he is worth considering in drafts.
