Notable Players- Trevor Lawrence

What a difference a season makes. With new coaching, a new offense, and a few new faces Lawrence looked like the generational talent that the Jaguars hoped for. This season he should be equally impressive, and has some additional tools and weapons to use- including returning receiver Calvin Ridley.

Notable Players- Travis Etienne & Tank Bigsby

Etienne had a good ‘rookie’ year last season after missing the whole 2021 season with injury. He obviously has good chemistry with his college QB, but he looked effective in the backfield. He should continue to be the lead back for the Jaguars this season too, if he got more involved in the passing game he could put together a great season for fantasy.

Bigsby is one of my favourite rookie selections this season. He often gets overlooked but he fits in really well in the offense. The way the Jaguars run their backfield, using a zone scheme is exactly how Bigsby performed at his best in college. He should be able to work as an effective relief back, and step into a bigger role if Etienne were to miss time.

Notable Players- Calvin Ridley, Christian Kirk & Zay Jones

This trio could really help Lawrence take another step forward. Ridley missed all of last season due to suspension but has been looking good in camp and was able to show his talent early in his career with the Falcons. Ridley could struggle to start the season, as he shakes off the rust, but he should be effective for the season as a whole.

Kirk was given a big contract last season, and while it still looks large, his performances last season repaid the faith that the team had in him. In PPR leagues, his slot performances were great, and he helped out teams that drafted him. But, given the strength of those performances, and the impact of Ridley in the offense, I think he is verging on being overdrafted this season. If he falls into the mid-rounds, then I’m fine with it- otherwise I’ll skip him.

Jones I’m not sure on taking until the impact of Ridley can really be seen. Late round flier, and maybe trade out early season if he pops and Ridley struggles.

Notable Players- Evan Engram

Engram had a decent season last year, and was a big part of why Lawrence was able to feel comfortable in his second year. That was a great season, but with additional receivers, including rookie TE Brenton Strange, there is a squeeze on targets for Engram. With the TE landscape being what it is, he is going to have some TE1 weeks, but with his new price tag, I’m going to take a shot on another TE with upside.
