Notable Players- Patrick Mahomes

This is a situation where my projections don’t fully tell the story. The receivers for the Chiefs give me plenty of pause, and there isn’t a top tier talent in that room. So it’s hard to allocate players a bunch of TDs. BUT, there is little doubt that Mahomes won’t be throwing high 30’s/ 40+ TDs this season. Draft him with confidence if you want to get a stud QB.

Notable Players- Isiah Pacheco & Jerick McKinnon

The Chiefs backfield used to be a trove for fantasy points- and it is still, just spread out a little than it used to be. Pacheco established himself as the early down back, with McKinnon working on receiving downs- and they split goal line work (although McKinnon lit it up on short passes). And then CEH came in an ruined the day for fantasy players occasionally. 

Pacheco is a nice selection where he is going for teams that have gone WR-heavy to start, or are looking to add another RB2/ flex option. McKinnon feels like a player that is primed for coming back to earth after scoring 10 TDs on limited touches last year. With his fantasy value greatly reliant on getting in the endzone, he is a player you either need to accept will have dud weeks but you put him into your lineup, or avoid completely.

Notable Players- Kadarus Toney & Marquez Valdes-Scantling

The weakspot of the Chiefs is their receivers. There isn’t really one player that you can truly say “that’s the guy to own” yet this offense is going to put up points. Honestly, outside of Kelce it’s a crapshoot. But, there is going to be value here- Mahomes simply will force it.

Of the receivers available, I’d go for Toney ahead of them as he was able to show in limited time last season his versatile skillset. But, if his injury troubles follow him he could be a bust. I don’t think I really want to take any receiver long-term here though. We have seen plenty of times under Mahomes a mix of receivers perform and then completely disappear the next week.

Notable Players- Travis Kelce

I mean…….there isn’t much need to write too much here. Kelce is elite, and barring injury will finish TE1 as the primary receiver for Mahomes. The only question really will be the points gap between him and the TE2. Last season, it was essentially another player being on your roster- that was the size of the advantage you got.
