Another Patriots-esque offseason is in the books. They bolstered their defense in the draft, took some offensive guards on Day 3 along with some late-round wide receivers, and finished it off with spending next to nothing in free agency. The team is on the edge of competing for playoff contention, but without either a big step from Mac Jones or a splash trade/pickup, I don’t see them capable of making a deep playoff run with this roster.

Draft Recap

It was a classic Patriots draft. They went defense through the first three rounds. Picked up a couple of small school guards Jake Andrews from Troy and Sidy Sow from Eastern Michigan, plus Atonio Mafi out of UCLA in the fifth. Then picked up a couple of pass catchers in the sixth with home run swing Kayshon Boutte out of LSU and Demario Douglas out of Liberty. Don’t forget the placekicker out of Maryland in the fourth round and a punter in the sixth as well.
