Ahead of the 2024 season, there is time for a quick dynasty stock watch- specifically some Buy Low WRs that you could look to trade for now. There is some uncertainty to them. But that is exactly why you could target them and get them far cheaper than once some of that uncertainty has been lifted.
Jerry Jeudy (CLE)
After an injury-riddled season in 2021 in Denver, Jeudy came into 2022 posting a solid season. He ended 2022 with almost 1000 yards on just 67 receptions. Meaning his yards per catch was a whopping 14.51 YPC, ranking him among the top receivers in the league. Given that players often take a full year to recover from injuries, Jeudy entered 2023 at peak value, or so it seemed.
However, things didn’t go as planned for Jeudy in Denver. Reports surfaced suggesting compatibility issues with the team, and he failed to recapture his previous form from his 2022 season. A trade was bound to happen. But, Jeudy was traded to the Cleveland Browns for 2024 fifth- and sixth-round rookie picks.
Once he was traded to Cleveland, Jeudy was ‘almost’ immediately signed to a three-year extension. That deal was worth up to $58 million, signaling the Browns’ commitment to him. He now joins a WR group that includes Amari Cooper and Elijah Moore, along with promising young players like Cedric Tillman and David Bell. This bolsters quarterback Deshaun Watson‘s weapons, providing another threat to take pressure off of Amari Cooper and stretch opposing defenses.
In this new situation, Jeudy should seamlessly fit into more routes over Moore, who had an underwhelming 2023 season. With Watson at the helm and Cooper as the primary target, Jeudy can expect to see around 100+ targets in this offense. (Barring any injury setbacks). This positions him as a solid WR2 option.
For dynasty fantasy football managers, Jeudy presents an intriguing buy-low opportunity. If you can acquire him for a rookie third-round pick or by trading players like Jakobi Meyers, Romeo Doubs, or Courtland Sutton straight up for him, I would. I believe at the end of 2024, it’s going to be a worthwhile investment. A 25-year-old WR2 with a secure contract, shown flashes of upside and has a promising role in Cleveland’s offense is a valuable addition to any dynasty roster. Sign me up.
George Pickens (PIT)
George Pickens enters the 2024 NFL season with significant potential for fantasy football success. In 2023, despite playing with two experimental quarterbacks, Mitch Trubisky and Kenny Pickett, Pickens managed to shine. He now faces an incredible opportunity with upgraded quarterback options in the form of Russell Wilson and Justin Fields. This shift in talent at the quarterback position should result in a higher volume of catchable passes for Pickens, setting the stage for a breakout season.
Key Statistics
Pickens’ performance in 2023 was impressive considering the circumstances:
| Hands | Sub 5.0% Drop Rate |
| Production in 2023 | 1,140 yards on 63 receptions |
| Efficiency in YPR | 1st with 18.1 yards per catch |
These numbers highlight Pickens as a highly efficient and reliable receiver, even with the suboptimal quarterback play he has had since being drafted.
The 2024 Outlook
With the trade of Diontae Johnson, Pickens is now the clear WR1 in Pittsburgh. Reduced target competition, coupled with improved quarterback play, positions him for a potentially explosive season. Fantasy managers who have been frustrated with Pickens’ previous inconsistency could finally see the breakout they’ve been waiting for.
Dynasty Fantasy Football Strategy
For dynasty fantasy football managers, Pickens presents a small buy window opportunity before the season:
Contending Teams
If you are a contending roster, acquiring Pickens for a late 2024 or 2025 first-round pick could be a wise investment. His potential to produce WR1 numbers makes him a valuable addition.
Rebuilding Teams
For those in a rebuilding, take advantage of older veteran wide receivers who are still producing and go trade for Pickens. Consider dealing players like Deebo Samuel, Mike Evans, or DK Metcalf in straight-up trades or package deals to acquire Pickens.
Keon Coleman (BUF)
Keon Coleman, a rookie wide receiver out of Florida State, has found himself with the potential to slot into the WR1 role for the Buffalo Bills. With Josh Allen behind center, and Stefon Diggs and Gabe Davis traded away, the ceiling for Coleman in his rookie season is exceptionally high.
Coleman is a big-bodied receiver, standing at 6’4” and weighing 215 pounds. Historically, wide receivers who are 6’1″ or taller and 205 pounds or more have dominated the fantasy football landscape. His ability to make high-point catches, combined with above-average hands and agility, will make him a nightmare for defenses. The dynasty fantasy community has compared Coleman to notable players like Allen Robinson, Michael Thomas, and more recently, Drake London.
Performance and Expectations
Given the expectation of playing in a high-powered offense, Coleman’s value at his current average draft position (ADP) could be significant. His former coach at Florida State, Mike Norvell, praised him highly, stating, “He’s a human highlight reel”. This endorsement underscores Coleman’s potential impact in the NFL.
Dynasty Fantasy Football Strategy
Coleman presents a small buy window opportunity for dynasty fantasy football managers before he takes the field.
Contending Teams
If you are a contending roster, acquiring Coleman for a late 2024 or 2025 second-round pick could be a wise investment. His potential to produce serviceable fantasy numbers makes him a valuable addition with significant upside.
Rebuilding Teams:
For those in a rebuilding phase, take advantage of older veteran wide receivers who are still producing and make insulated trades for Coleman. Consider dealing players like DK Metcalf, Davante Adams, and Tee Higgins in a package with a 2025 mid/late first or second-round pick. Additionally, consider trading players like D’Andre Swift, Tyjae Spears, or Jayden Reed straight up in a one-for-one deal.
Keon Coleman, at just 23 years old, is poised to capitalize on his increased role and the high-powered offense of the Buffalo Bills. His combination of youth, talent, and opportunity makes him a highly attractive target for dynasty fantasy football managers looking to bolster their rosters for the present and future. Whether you’re contending or rebuilding, Coleman should be on your radar this offseason.
