This fantasy impact article feels like it could have been written last year, but finally, Juju Smith-Schuster signed with the Kansas City Chiefs. Last season, the Chiefs were rumored to be looking to bring in Juju, but it could work out and his season with the Steelers didn’t really work out for various reasons.
To be totally honest, Smith-Schuster didn’t get the real kick on in his career once Antonio Brown left the team. Part of that was the availability of Ben Roethlisberger, part of that was his own personal injuries. This season, he looks to slot into an all-star offense with one of the best passers in the league.
Juju’s best season came when he was opposite Antonio Brown, with the veteran pulling the attention of defenses, and operating out of the slot. That is something that he could very much happen again in this offense. Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce are more than enough of a headache for defenses to deal with, and they don’t currently have a slot receiver on the roster.
The thing is, as the other parts of the roster are already established, it’s hard to see Juju getting a large target share like he did in his 2018 season. With how the targets are shared in Kansas City, you lose around 300 to Hill and Kelce, which caps the ceiling for Juju in the offense (assuming no injury).
If you own Juju and don’t need anything other than WR3 numbers, keep him otherwise look to trade on the hype of his joining the Chiefs.
